message 352: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments Yay Jennifer! I really liked the Succubus series, I can't believe she finished it and we aren't going to get any more Georgina books. I hope you plan to continue, they keep getting better.

message 353: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments It's time like these that I wonder why I'm in SOS when I don't seem to have read the hundreds of popular series that everybody else seems to have. Other times, I just look at the TBR and I know :P

message 354: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments LOL Oh so true Vi, I feel like I'm always behind as well.

Whilst I've read a lot of books, most of them aren't PNR/UF. I started reading long before they wrote these sort of books.

But I'm having fun catching up :D

message 355: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments I agree, Sandra! We get to experience things from the start while others have already finished/all caught up. Plus, we get more info from the experienced readers.

Midu Hadi | 1732 comments Vi, what are you reading for the demon shelf?

message 357: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments Reading Summer Knight (The Dresden Files, #4) by Jim Butcher

message 358: by Midu (new)

Midu Hadi | 1732 comments another series I'm dying to start!

message 359: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments What are you reading?

message 360: by Midu (new)

Midu Hadi | 1732 comments no idea yet!

message 361: by Heather (new)

Heather (heathermb) | 132 comments Finished: The Darkest Night
Shelf: Demons
Read: 2/27/12
Rating: ★★★★

Review:
Maddox and Ashlyn were awesome characters. Even though Maddox is possessed with violence, he was able to channel it away from her and towards anyone who'd do her harm. As for Ashlyn, I thought it was interesting how her "power" worked.

Overall, the book was great. Sometimes the first in a series is slightly lacking due to all the world-building that must be done, not so for this book. I enjoyed the shifting view-points also. The book reminded me of the BDB series in that manner and in the group of males all housed together. Will definitely be returning for more when I have a chance.

message 362: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments Yay Heather! It is a pretty good series. The next one The Darkest Kiss with Lucien is one of my favs of the series. I've got the the last couple to get to yet.

I think I started the series because I thought covers were great.

message 363: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments Way to go, Heather!! Another series that I've to resume.. Read only the first :)

I;m getting a move on my demons read today. Hope to finish it by tomorrow at the latest.

message 364: by Heather (new)

Heather (heathermb) | 132 comments Lol, yeah, since I have two days to kill before March challenges all start I decided to give the second one a go. So far it's good too. :)

message 365: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments LOL, Heather. I know what you mean.

I'm down with a bad, bad cold which means I have all the good stuff that goes with - headache, throat ache, blocked nose and headache. Yes, two times the normal headache. I couldn't concentrate on any new book. I'm going back to tried and tested method: rereads. I'm reading Angels' Blood (Guild Hunter, #1) by Nalini Singh which 2 kind souls have shelved as demons. Hopefully, I can read this one.

message 366: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Look after yourself Vi. It seems to be going around, that's for sure.

message 367: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments Hope your feeling better soon Vi... Do you have Zicam available where you live? It seemed to kick my re-coup time in half, it's loaded with Zinc.

message 368: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments Thanks, Sandra and Lis!!

Lis, we don't have any independent pharmacy in Singapore. To get any serious medicine, you need a doctor's prescription. A bit of a bore here. And I don't think we get Zicam here. I'm feelings loads better today at any rate.

message 369: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments Glad you feeling better. It's just like a super vitamin loaded with immunity boosters. It's an over the counter medicine that here you can pick up at a grocery store.

message 370: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments Oh, I need to check if I can get that here. So far, the only things we get here are some vitamins, or the super strong lozenges and some of the skin ointments.

message 371: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments Finished: Angels' Blood By Nalini Singh
Shelf: Demons
Read: 29/2/12
Rating: ★★★★
Review: As re-reads go, this book was perfect. I loved revisiting the whole world and the characters. I loved the interaction between Raphael and Elena especially the last scene. Now, on to Angels' Flight.

I don't get why two people shelved it as demons though - not that I'm complaining. ;)

message 372: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments Yay Vi!

message 373: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (dawn_e) | 185 comments Almost done... only 2 hours left and Im really enjoying the book and yet I'm so sad that is coming to an end and the next one won't be out until November! Booo...

message 374: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments Vi, maybe they considered fallen angels as demons.

message 375: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments Lis, you haven't read the series yet??? Technically, there are no fallen angels in the series so far. You have to read this series!!

message 376: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (dawn_e) | 185 comments Finished: Daughter of Smoke and Bone
Shelf: Demons
Date: 3.2.12
Rating: ★★★★★

Once upon a time an angel and a devil fell in love... It did not end well.

All i can say is wow! I love this book its definitely a favorite. I enjoyed the whole cast of characters and absolutely love Karou, Akiva and of course Brimstone with his "...and no inessential penises."
( -- ok just had to throw that in cuz its pretty funny).

This is a very unique story and unlike anything Ive read and for the most part kept me guessing where the story would go next. Now i just have to wait until November...

message 377: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments I've read it, I was just trying to rationalize why someone might mark it as a demon book instead of psycho archangel...

message 378: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 150 comments Yay, dawn! I might have to read that one!

message 379: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments And... It's less than a day away from shelf announcement and I'm between books again. I'm afraid of starting a new one that might be called or starting one I won't be able to put down for a couple of days...

message 380: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments Yay, Dawn!! I'm definitely reading that one but only after the next one comes out.

Oh, oops. Sorry, I saw the wrong person on the book page. I was thinking that might be it or did the persons mean demons from the past.

I'm starting Bone Crossed as a BR. Hope tomorrow's shelf's good one. The weird thing is I always seem to be between books just a while before the shelf announcement day.

message 381: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments Dawn finishing her book means we're all done for the demons shelf as well. I've requested for the stamp. We're doing fantastic, ladies!! Excellent job, Divas!!

message 382: by Lis (last edited Mar 02, 2012 08:36PM) (new)

Lis | 4037 comments Yay Dawn and Yay Divas!

I was off reading smoke and bone reviews Dawn, you've got me tempted. I'm not real big on YA if it's full of teenage angst, but if there's a good story in there I'll give it a try.

message 383: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (dawn_e) | 185 comments All I can say is that I really really enjoyed the book and I loved it as an audio. Definitely not a lot of teen angst or attitude or youngness. Karou is lonely and they do delve into that a bit but it's not so much as pity me but that she feels empty. It's worth putting on the TBR pile however may want to wait a little closer to November because the ending is a cliffhanger.

Woohoo another stamp!

message 384: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments Steph announced the shelf early!! It's paranormal romance! Link: www.goodreads.com/shelf/show/paranorm...

Now, it's 1:10 am here and I'm off to bed!

message 385: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments Wow that was early... And of course on a weekend that I was busy and not stalking GRs for the announcement... Oh well, this should be an easy one and gives us 3 in a row, right?

message 386: by Lis (last edited Mar 03, 2012 02:42PM) (new)

Lis | 4037 comments I think I'm going with Pack Challenge (Magnus Pack, #1) by Shelly Laurenston Raziel (The Fallen, #1) by Kristina Douglas or Embrace the Night (Cassandra Palmer, #3) by Karen Chance Will let you know for sure after a take the first couple of chapters for a spin and see which one sticks.

message 387: by Dawn (last edited Mar 03, 2012 04:54PM) (new)

Dawn (dawn_e) | 185 comments Hmm it's either Dime Store Magic (Women of the Otherworld, #3) by Kelley Armstrong or Bitter Night (Horngate Witches, #1) by Diana Pharaoh Francis .
And Raziel that is one yummy cover.

message 388: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments I know Dawn, I just "ponder" it each week so I can post it again.

message 389: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments LOL

message 390: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments LOL, Lis!! Yep, we're getting our first 3 in a row. There are no 4 in a row for any team.

I'm not sure which book I'm going to read: Fair Game (Alpha & Omega #3) by Patricia Briggs , Hostage to Pleasure (Psy-Changeling, #5) by Nalini Singh or Touch the Dark (Cassandra Palmer, #1) by Karen Chance

Fair Game comes out Tuesday which most likely be Tuesday evening and I need to slow down on the Psy-C series. Too many choices.

message 391: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments I know Fair Game (Alpha & Omega #3) by Patricia Briggs and Oracle's Moon (Elder Races, #4) by Thea Harrison both come out on Tuesday, but I like to the bingo books done early in the week.

message 392: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments Me too, Lis! I'm still undecided.

message 393: by Heather (new)

Heather (heathermb) | 132 comments I'll be reading His Darkest Hunger (Jaguar Warriors, #1) by Juliana Stone . I'm on a reading roll with 4 books in 3 days so I'm thinking I should have this done by tomorrow.

message 397: by Heather (last edited Mar 04, 2012 01:28AM) (new)

Heather (heathermb) | 132 comments Finished: His Darkest Hunger
Shelf: Paranormal Romance
Date: 3/4
Rating: ★★★★1/2

I thought this book was amazing. The plot was original and the series-world-building was done extremely well. The story grabs you from the very beginning as the Hero, Jaxon, is setting his sniper sights on ex-girlfriend and alleged traitor Libby who he has just found after three years. Of course there would be no story if he took the shot so he decides to get up close and personal. But he soon realizes Libby has no idea who she is. Her first memory is getting off a bus two months prior with no money, no memory other than her name, a sense of fear of "them", and a boat-load of scars and still healing injuries.

This book keeps you guessing while it twists and turns along at a steady clip. I'll certainly be reading the next two in the series once I finish my monthly challenge books.
