R4: Team #9 ~ Nth Power

Good decision Judithe.
It's a good thing there are too many good series out there to read while we're hangin'! :P
Isn't it time for our new shelf yet?

3, 558 books...think I'll try the search through "my" book's shelf page instead...fingers crossed!

As nfor Mead spinoffs, I have already jumped in and read the first... Not quite the same, but it was kind of like a drug, and I couldnt stay away! LOL!
Tons on my to read list in the Demon shelf... Will have to think about it... So many to choose from, I need to decide what I feel like!

What a ride!
Like the rest of the books in this series it is full of action, snark and flawed but oh-so-lovable characters.
I've been postponing reading this one since the next one is still a long way away and I think I may have been a little afraid that it wouldn't live up to my expectations. The first reason is still true but I was so wrong on the second!
I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed Kate's sarcastic comments to herself, Kate and Curran's banter and the delightfully bullheaded pair those two make.
The world is still very complex but we are familiar enough with it by now that it's not overwhelming, the characters are flawed and deep, all of them have reasons for their reactions, pasts, their own stories. Kate might be a little reckless but she always knows she is taking risks and their possible consequences.
I am really looking forward to the next book and while I wait, I might just read the authors' other series to tide me up until then.
P.S.: Kate and Curran's interactions were so sweet they hurt. Even when they were arguing. Curran being flawed actually makes them even better. Lucky, lucky Kate!

It will be interesting to see your review for that one. I was ready to throw the book across the room with that one. If you have an ereader, have a proxy book ready.

Let me tell you...after the telescope angst, I can take ANYTHING!!!!!!!!! Sheer escapism...though I identify with Rose, and the telescopes are my Dmitri~love 'em and hate 'em!
BTW, the telescopes are part of a translation project due 2/29 that I've been working on since December... now down to the wire!...along with submitting student grades for my full-time, even though I'm a part-timer, uni class load...as soon as this is finished, I have to finish my tax stuff to submit to my accountant on FRIDAY! Sometime last week, I ordered my family to LEAVE ME ALONE, you have hands, gawd d*amn*t! Kid Locust, who has taken over dinner duties, is REALLY excited to see me almost finished...and has even gently suggested I need a little more reading time to calm down....

I did sneak in a few pages after dinner and am just up to where (view spoiler)

I will be reading Desire Unchained for my demon shelf read.
Will be posting my review in a bit for this past weeks book.
Awesome review and I use my phone as my ereader too, so can totally understand the frustration of not being able to toss it;)

Was pleasently surprised by this book. I had previously read Marr's "Wicked Lovely" series, and had enjoyed it. Coming into this book, (The first non-YA designated book of hers) I was uncertain as to what to expect. I had gotten used to her "Fairy" Tales as it were. While this book is firmly situated in the supernatural world, it is a far different world that that"home" town to fulfill a pre-destined roll that she didnt know Designated as the new "Graveminder" she must come to terms with all that comes with the title (which is a lot) in time to save her small town from certain disaster.
A very good read in my oppinion. I would reccomend it.

This is my first Sookie book in a while. I took a bit of a break for a while. I actually enjoyed this book more than the last one or 2. Sookies life is as crazy as ever, and this is compounded by the fact that her brother Jason is now a changing shifter. Sookie struggles with trying to help solve the mystery of a series of shootings, trying to avoid being murdered herself, and juggling the affections of an increasing number of potential love interests.

Review:
I actually started this series with the third book, "Passion Unleashed", which ended up with a case of information overload. If I had started the series properly; I would have been introduced more gradually and been able to relax and enjoy that wonderful read.
I found "Pleasure Unbound" to be such a delectable treat!
Larissa has created an intricate exciting new world, with demons, angels, fallen angels, vampires, wargs, werewolves, werebeasts, shifters, slayers, humans, half-breeds and others I'm sure I'm forgetting. The physical environment is new and unique, described in such a way that I could actually imagine myself alongside the characters.
I have to admit though, my favourite feature was the individual characters and how they interacted throughout the novel. From the uncontrollable chemistry and magnetism between Eidolon and Tayla; the family devotion between the Eidolon and his siblings...and the role of "Guardians" aka "Demon Slayers" and their twisted antics of protecting humans.
Tons of action and great characters. This book had me riveted, invested and wanting more. If you want a great read and crazy hot romance, stop everything and pick this up!

There are serious stories, stories that make you think, stories that make you cringe, fall in love, despair, make you mad, leave you completely unaffected, change you and stories that can cause every reaction imaginable.
Well this one was interesting, light and nothing too serious. It is superficial and at times a little disconnected, but enjoyable nonetheless. It is fun, but not one of those stories that you remember for a long time after you've read them, although it does have its share of drama.
There are a couple of characters whose stories I'd love to read, hoping that the writing gets a little more engaging in future books. Especially looking forward to Will's story.

Good Job!! :D

Ahhhh......done. Well, and wasn't that an interesting ride. Road trip, with Rose periodically slipping back into Lissa's mind to keep us up-to-date on what's happening back at court...
Rose has been accused of murdering Queen Tatiana. She's imprisoned, and about the time her forced inactivity is starting to drive her crazy, she's broken out. On the road with Dmitri, you know there is going to heartbreak in there somewhere for her, Dmitri or Adrian. (view spoiler) Lots of characters showed up from previous books, and they didn't have such minor roles after all. Those on the road with Rose get into some tight situations, but managed to find solutions somehow. Rose does have an amazing amount of troubles, and while many of them are not her fault, she often doesn't "help" the situations. It does keep the story moving, though. Besides, it would be boring if she didn't!
I like the story and the series. I'll read Bloodlines, but not for awhile. (Have an aversion to Mead's love of cliffhanger/dangling ends leading up to the last book). I loved and hated most of the characters at different points in the series, and was happy for the main cast at the end. (view spoiler) ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Where to start? If you look at my status updates for this book, you can get a taste for the author's sense of humor. This is a dark, urban fantasy written from a male's point of view. There are no kick-ass female heroines clad in leather. Instead, our hero is often in tattered or singed clothing.
James Stark or Stark or Sandman Slim was sent to Hell by his magician friends. When he manages to escape from Hell, Stark wants revenge upon the people who sent him there. Stark likes his weapons and his magic and he possesses a magical key that allows him to travel through the shadows to anywhere he wants.
The characters were well developed and varied. There are magicians, humans, Kissi (a type of angel), angels, demons, a Jade (a kind of freaky sharky vampire), even Lucifer makes an appearance. LA makes the perfect backdrop for this book.
I'm sold on this series and I will continue to read these books.

Review:
I can't believe I'm writing this, as I love Shade's character; however, this was not my favorite book in this series that has riveted me up till now.
I found that there was just too much going on in this novel. Certain situations were not followed through without drifting to a totally different storyline. Now maybe my ADD was messing with me, but the lack of flow made it hard for me to totally "invest" in the book.
I still love this series and this book does continue on with the amazing character interactions, smoldering chemistry and action. I just found it a harder read, which is surprising since I couldn't read fast enough to satisfy my cravings with the others.
Despite giving it 4 stars, I would still recommend it. Especially to those completing the "Demonica" series, as it provides tons of information on the characters, their relationships and the overall "Demonica" environment.

Oh...there are more than 13,000 books...I went with the "check if the book I want to read is on it" method...LOL! Top shelves for both (very happy to see that!), and now my runny nose and I are off to catch some sleep.

I did not remember Elena being this stupid in the first book! She's practically useless for most of this book. (view spoiler) I won't even mention her insecurity issues with Clay especially.
It's not just her, either. What can I possibly say about Sandra..? (view spoiler)
Finishing this book was painful. There was a whole lot of nothing happening for long intervals and some things had no reason for happening (and not in a good 'this is life, bad things happen' kind of way). The main "bad guy" was like a half-witted hormonal spoiled teenager who was supposedly intelligent but showed no evidence of the fact anywhere in the story and whose sadistic tendencies were out-staged only by those of his employees.
The only redeeming character is Jeremy, who was the voice of logic in the chaos and maybe Adam, who displayed a bit of humor. Xavier might have been an interesting character but we don't get to see all that much of him. Also, the sorcerer's identity was a surprise which is a good thing considering that I'd forgotten all about him and his "importance" up until his appearance.
All in all, I did not enjoy this book and I'm probably not going to read the next in the series.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Still considering the PR book- will let you know!

Chloe Saunders is a fifteen year old girl who begins to see things that no one else can. She sees ghosts. Uncertain as to what is going on, and not knowing what these strange beings that others cant see, she suffers from a sort of melt down one day at school, and is admitted into a group home for mentally disturbed teens. She is told that she is suffering from schizophrenia, and is administered medication. While trying to become acclimated to her new surroundings, she begins to realize that everything may not be as it seems, and there are many things in this world that have been hidden. Her supposed disease is actually a power, and she is not the only one in the home who is “different”. Is this a coincidence, or could something more sinister be going on??
I really enjoyed this book. As most YA books tend to be, it was an easy read, but the plot was entertaining and fast moving, with several turns that I did not even vaguely see coming. It is written well, and though telling the story of a young girl, really never gave me that “ugh, I have to roll my eyes now because this is juvenile” feeling.
My one surprise after finishing this book, is that even though it did end in a bit of a cliffhanger, I am not ravenous for the next one. I do ABSOLUTELY plan on continuing with this series, but don’t have the overwhelming need to continue with book 2 immediately. That is how I know it is not a 5 star for me… Then again, 4 stars isn’t too shabby!

Thenia- I'm thinking I'll wait till it's done (or almost) for the spin-off series. The waiting annoys me in Mead's series' (well, in some others, too, but she tends to leave ya hangin'!)
