I've started Sense and Sensibility , the audiobook, here at home (best adapted screenplay, 1995). As for a book to read-read, I think I'll go for either Sticky Fingers (body part) or The Opposite of Invisible (first-time author).
I SHOULD read Breaking Dawn , since it's worth 25 pts, but I own that one. I can read it any time. The library books have due dates!

Queen Emma and the Vikings - Harriet O'Brien

Total @ 09/02/2009 = 275 Pts

Mostly it's due to lots of reading time due to travel this weekend, and cutting back TV time to do more reading!
And Alice--you should definitely get a hold of Up From Slavery! For a book published in 1901, the writing felt very modern. I loved both autobiographies and really sympathize with both Malcolm X and Booker T. Washington. They were both fighting for the same thing but in such different ways and I honestly can't say which was more effective. And both autobiographies are so full of propaganda, each man pushing his ideas. I really want to find some really good criticisms/histories to see what scholars have to say on the matter.

I liked Emma a lot! I had only previously read one other book by Austen and had lukewarm feelings for it; but Emma has turned my head around and I plan to read them all.

What did you think of revolutionary road? have you seen the film?"
Alice,
I have to admit that I did not really care for RR. I have not seen the movie but heard that it is different than the book (as they always are). so I plan on seeing it.
I wrote a little about it in my review...saying this:
Rev. Road is too much like the Rabbit series by John Updike. which I loved. The main character of both books are bored with their lives and feel that they have been cheated (by/in life). both are big babies in grown up bodies. What I think Updike acheives with his books is a far more in-depth character development.
I was disappointed by the ending of Rev. Road. I thought it was built up too much, through-out the book. and possibly too convienent. I did not think the character of April was well-developed which made me question her actions/decisions.
That being said, Rev. Road is worth reading. especially as a companion/comparision to Rabbit, Run. hope this helps.
