Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments Stu, I have added cleansing of souls to goodreads and should be linked to you. Can you check (have never done it before so wanna get it right!) you may have to upload cover though as I could not work out how to do that bit! X

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Okey dokey! You mean - A Cleansing of Souls

message 403: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Brilliant! No idea how to add the cover though!

message 404: by Emma (new)

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments The first edition of Cleansing has Author Stuart A Ayris. Do you want me to change it to just Stuart Ayris so that the paperback and hardback link to you also, I can then combine them with this kindle edition one (get me!!).
I can probably work out how to do the cover too, just give me some time x

message 405: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Trouble is I have asked them to be removed from Amazon as they are not representative of the novel I wanted (which the current one is!)

message 406: by Emma (new)

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments Ok. I can keep them separate and this kindle one is the only one that is linked to you if you go to your profile (along with tollesbury of course).
And then you can delete the other version from here whenever you want (or I can do it as my title of librarian let's me!)
Will try do photo now for you x

message 407: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments You're great! If you could delete the other versions that would be brilliant!

message 408: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Bought new version - tomorrow when I am on my pc again I will paste my review. You've lost all the old ones.

message 410: by Emma (new)

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments Kath, are you ok for me deleting the current (1st edition ones) or do you want me to wait until you have copied to new version (which will have a photo shortly! Have had to turn on laptop to do it so just waiting for it to fire up!)

message 411: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments You are ok with that Emma. I'll copy my review from Goodreads.

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments Message from GR Super Librarian:
We do not delete books that have been published even if they are now unavailable, then republished. This is a book cataloging site in the same way a book would not be removed from a library shelf.

So it stays unfortunately. Sorry, I tried x

message 425: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments That's ok!! Thanks so much for trying Emma!! Although I've removed plenty of books from library shelfs over the years....

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Well not a bad day so far! A Cleansing of Souls finished and on sale again and I've worked out where The Bird That Nobody Sees is heading. Sixteen thousand words in out of the seventy four thousand words I'm aiming at. Time for wine and for writing - that combination that has served me so well up to now. I should qualify that statement by saying it has served neither my physical health nor my relationship with others particularly well...but you have to suffer to produce!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments But if others have to suffer for you to produce....

message 430: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments suffering is all in the eye of the beerholder - and it's not really suffering - more a rolling of the eyes and a smirk...

message 431: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Although I'm sixteen thousand words in to The Bird That Nobody Sees I've finally come up with the first two paragraphs!

"In this life, there are people considered to be good and there are people considered to be bad. The fact that such people are merely opposite ends of the same continuum will sometimes be forgotten. Circumstance, whim, a calculated choice even, can move one closer to the other. Nobody is precictable and everybody has the capacity for change. That is what makes life so incredible.

So if you were, say, a policeman and you and several of your colleagues were running up a hill in a park in a small town in Essex looking for a midget and you happened upon a huge oak tree at the foot of which are four drunk men singing 'Sit Down Next To Me' by James and then suddenly the midget whom you seek appears from at the top of the tree and does something entirely unbelievable – well, just think of it as life. That's all. It's just life."

message 432: by Emma (new)

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments Ooooh, I want more! That sounds great :-) x

message 433: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I love your style Stu! That really made me smile.

message 434: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Thank you both! So weird how these books write themselves! It really is a case of just being patient and letting the words fall into place. Such fun!

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments Riveting opening Stuart!
I am so enjoying A Cleansing of Souls, though I suspect I may have an early version.I am currently at 25% and would be finished but for the fact I keep rereading paragraphs wallowing in the sheer beauty of your words.

I am doing the exact same thing Sarah! It is wonderful huh? I emailed and got the new version within a couple of hours so it doesn't take long if you want the updated version. I was just coming by to tell Stu how powerful one bit in particular is but don't want to spoil anything for you. I am at 77% :-)

message 437: by Philip (sarah) (new)

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments Oh Emma, you are a temptress, maybe I should just ditch the housework, cooking and ironing and keep reading!
No....I will let the anticipation build to a peak.
Maybe just a few more pages with my coffee........

message 438: by Emma (new)

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments Lol! I am trying to put the book down to go get ready for an early lunch date! Not happening at the mo!

message 440: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Dave has FINALLY started Tollesbury! He's at about 30% and sez he's really enjoying it. I'm looking forward to him finishing it so we can discuss it. I may have to cook a special Tollesbury meal so we can discuss it over dinner...

message 441: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Hurrah for Dave!

A special Tollesbury meal? Now I wonder what that would consist of?!

message 442: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Here? Whatever I can find in the shop. :(

message 443: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Whatever it is, cook it in Real Ale and serve with Frazzles!

message 444: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments I woke up during the night with the wonderful realisation that I had started writing A Bird That Nobody Sees about a third of the way through! Suddenly it all makes so much more sense.

Then I went back to sleep briefly and the first line of the book was the first thing I said when I woke up.

Apparently, according to Rebecca, it should be "Morning darling. Do you want a cup of tea?"

"It all began with a washing machine. And it ended with angels. That's the thing about life. You just never know where it's going to take you."

Just didn't quite do it for her!

message 445: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments It would do it for me! (But the cup of tea afterwards would be most welcome!)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments oooh is that my rogue washing machine? Fame at last?

message 447: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments You have a rogue washing machine? Does it have a door?

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Well it does right now, but I suspect that at any moment it will throw off the shackles of oppression and cast away it's chains (i.e. door) and make a break for freedom. The way it shudders and jerks in the spin cycle has been worrying me for a while. And my alcohol stash keeps on disappearing. I think I should move it out of the kitchen.

message 449: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Sounds similar to the one in my book!!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments It must have been communicationg with you in your sleep...
