Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I'm practicing my review speak gotta use fancy wossnames. Plus just finished Guards! Guards! and that had some nonsensical fancy talk in it maybe I've been influenced?

Now then young man, it can't be quite unique. Unique is a word like pregnant. You are or you aren't. You can't be slightly preganant!

message 503: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Thank you Jud!

Kath - just to clear up a couple of things...

1. I am unique
2. I am not pregnant

message 504: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I'm unique too! We're all unique!

(I love saying stuff that I know Ignite sits there and tuts at.)

Hehe

message 505: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Glad to hear it - on both counts! So less of this self effacing 'quite unique' stuff eh? You know you're good. Shout it!

message 506: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I would say she is breathing a sigh of relief at you being unique Patti

message 507: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Good? I'm ********** brilliant! ; )

message 508: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments I've always considered Patti to be quite unique too...

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I don't think the world can cope with more than one Patti!

message 510: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Aww I'm nothing special. I can't even write good like what most of our groupites can.

message 511: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments That's why we can't cope with more than one of you!

Double Yay

message 518: by Stuart (last edited Mar 20, 2012 03:59AM) (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments I'm loving it! Just worked out last night who it is that's going to get murdered and also worked out the middle section! Going better than I could have imagined. I have two weeks laid up after my operation on Friday so will try and get loads done during that time!

message 519: by Kate (new)

Kate (littlekate1) | 574 comments Hope the operation goes well.

Sounds like the plot is coming together which is great, although maybe rest and recuperation is good after an operation... (sorry, going all mumsy)

message 520: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Thank you Kate. Obviously I'll be watching the England v Sri Lanka Test Series too! I have never been good at resting - hence the state of my right knee!

message 521: by Kate (new)

Kate (littlekate1) | 574 comments Eek, my doctoral thesis is on the experience of chronic musculoskeletal pain so I'm going to shut up now before I get out the soapbox.
I'll hae my fingers crossed it all goes well and you are able to sit up in bed being waited on while you craft some beautifully emotive and evocative phrases.

message 522: by Stuart (last edited Mar 20, 2012 05:17AM) (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments A doctoral thesis sounds more painful to me than two torn knee ligaments!

I have already begun practicing my beautifully emotive and evocative phrases. Here are just two examples:

"Bacon sandwich required!"

"A pint or red wine with ice-cubes for the pain please!"

message 523: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Poor Rebecca. Poor, poor Rebecca.

message 524: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments A successful marriage is all about balance. Bacon sandwich in one hand, pint of red wine in the other...

message 525: by Kate (new)

Kate (littlekate1) | 574 comments a pint of red wine is likely to knock you insensible and give your wife a break lol.

message 526: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I'm sure you'll spend the next few days being extra kind to her to make up for the following two weeks. ;)

My mate had his knee done last summer and it worked a treat.
I'm sure it will be the same for you.

message 527: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Good luck with the op lad. It's staggering (maybe not the best word choice here?) how rapidly the body recovers.

message 528: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments An interview has just appeared with me on Professor Jon Bloch's site - http://jonpbloch.com/Stuart_Ayris.html

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments Oh poor Rebecca ;-)
Let me know when you are up for visitors and can make it over to the pub and I'll take a drive to come say hi xx

message 530: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments That would be wonderful - just let me know when you're free! x

message 531: by Emma (new)

message 533: by Fiona (Titch) (new)

Fiona (Titch) Hunt (titch) | 942 comments Stuart, I have both copies of A Cleansing of Souls. Which would you say I should keep a copy of to read soon?

message 534: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Best of luck tomorrow Stu. I hope it all goes well and heals fast.

message 535: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Is your op tomorrow? All the best :o) I hope it goes well too and get well soon.

message 536: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Hi Fiona! Read the most recent! And yes, OP is tomorrow afternoon - thank you both for your kind words!

message 537: by Jud (new)

Hope all goes well tomorrow m'dear x

message 539: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments As long as the grapes have been turned into wine Jud I will be more than happy!

x

message 540: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Well ok, but only cause it's Friday tomorrow

message 541: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I can turn wine into water! (Well I think it's mostly water anyway!)

message 542: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments It would be more use if you could turn it from water to wine. Although not the water you are talking of.

message 543: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments A surly little vintage, but I think you'll be amused by its presumption!

message 544: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Not having had a drink since Tuesday night Friday seems an awful distance away!

message 545: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments "A surly little vintage" - what a wonderful phrase!! (it's not a nickname is it???) ; )

message 546: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Terribly fancy way of saying 'Ignite's pea wine'

message 547: by Kath (last edited Mar 22, 2012 10:02AM) (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I made pea pod wine once. Made a great drain cleaner. Guess how I know? It was ghastly to drink.

Just been and plonked another recommendation for you and a couple more of our authors on the .com site.

message 548: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments What did you go and do that for?

I think that we should enforce contracts on our authors that states that we shall never be forgotten and when they are rich and famous and loved by all they shall not be allowed to forget us and will have to keep coming back to chat to us and pretend to be our friends.

message 549: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Thank you! Really kind of you! You will be the first to see the first draft of The Bird That Nobody Sees oh grammar lady of mine!

message 550: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Duck Stu - Jud's got a contract on you!
