Sucks doesn't it. Not happy. At least you can put in a fake one. I made myself a year younger. :-)

Terri | 19576 comments I set up a thread yesterday to explain why we are all having to add a birth date. Don't blame the mods! It is Goodreads that have sprung this one on us.

I wasn't even allowed to view any discussion threads for this group so didn't know what was going on. My thanks to Dawn for helping me out after I messaged her!!! ;-)

Terri | 19576 comments Wow. You couldn't even view? I could view when I came to the group yesterday, but I could not post.

message 1806: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (new)

Terri | 19576 comments Update on the birth date fiasco:

Everyone, please don't worry anymore. I emailed Goodreads and they changed the groups status to Minor Appropriate (we were Adults only). So now nobody needs put in a birth date.

Phew. I feel that birth date thing could have really had a negative effect on the group.

message 1807: by Crystal (new)

Crystal Bryan | 305 comments I knew it wasn't the mods. :) It would only let me see the main group page 'til I gave it my b-day. But I also set to to no one can see it.

Plus, my Nook seems to have decided it wants the mobile version and keeps going there all by itself. I prefer the regular full site and have had no trouble in the past with it. I think it was the latest update from Barnes & Noble... grrr...

At least I haven't have cyclones. Glad you're all making it ok.

message 1808: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (new)

Terri | 19576 comments Thanks Crystal. Yep. ex-Cyclone has moved offshore and we are all trying to dry out. :)

I couldn't view either...NO entry until I lied about my age!!

Worked a World Cup friendly tonight...Mexico vs. Denmark!! I love soccer.

message 1810: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (new)

Terri | 19576 comments Who won. The Vikings I hope. :)

message 1811: by Bobby (new)

Bobby (bobbej) | 1375 comments 1-1 Both goals on penalty shots. 43,000 fans for a friendly!!

message 1812: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (new)

Terri | 19576 comments What a frustrating game though. Those are the worst. A full game with no score, then injury time with no score and then a penalty shoot out to draw.

Southern Ontario: Yesterday afternoon was 14 deg Celsius (57 F), light rain, calm winds; this afternoon: -7 C (19 F), 70km/h (44 mph) winds and snow squalls.

Don't like the weather? Wait 5 minutes.

They say the same thing here-"If you don't like the weather, wait a few minutes and it will change. This is only in the winter though.

Terri | 19576 comments Our States tourism motto is "Queensland: Beautiful one day, perfect the next"
Hasn't really been true in the last 4 months. More like "Queensland: Sweltering one day, bushfires the next and flooding the day after that'

Bryn Hammond (brynhammond) | 1505 comments I just scored Mr Shardlake #5 [is that bloody add-book down again? It was down last night. Add: Heartstone] in a two-for-$5 deal at a market stall. On the back it says of Sovereign, which I have in the post, "Deeper, stronger and subtler than The Name of the Rose." --Independent on Sunday. Cool, because I always felt Name of the Rose was a little overrated. At least, it didn't thrill me that much.

message 1826: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (last edited Feb 02, 2013 07:08PM) (new)

Terri | 19576 comments Wow. Nice score!
You just need to get #4 now. Revelation. (which I am reading now and loving) Revelation (Matthew Shardlake, #4) by C.J. Sansom As it comes between

Sovereign (Matthew Shardlake, #3) by C.J. Sansom and Heartstone (Matthew Shardlake, #5) by C.J. Sansom

(GR is working fine for me now, but yeah, last night it was a disaster. Many things not working)

You'll forgive me if I'm wondering HOW can you manage to take care of a farm, yourself, the GR group AND a blog???
How many hours a day have you got in Australia?????

message 1831: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) Don't forget, she needs to fit in a little reading too. :)

I'm thinking 48 hour days in Aussie land, that's how's she's doing it.

message 1832: by Simona (new)

Simona | 1453 comments I think she's discovered how to read while sleeping. She should register the method :)

message 1833: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (new)

message 1834: by Simona (new)

Simona | 1453 comments I think hubby would approve - considering all the alternatives. Lol.

message 1835: by Bryn (new)

message 1836: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (last edited Feb 05, 2013 02:16PM) (new)

Terri | 19576 comments I'm all for alternatives. Told hubby I may take a lover. :D
(we laughed..don't worry..it was a joke)

I could be the next Perez Hilton of Medieval and Ancient gossip.
I think Catherine Zeta Jones should play me in the movie based on my blog. We look so alike. :)

Thanks Leslie. I responded to your comment on my blog this morning!

Thanks to Dawn and Leslie for the comments on my blog....and Dawn for being my first 'follower' and Leslie for wanting to bookmark me.:)
Makes me feel less alone in the big blog world. I feel like a fish out of water since Goodreads has always been my realm of social networking.

I tried to set up a Facebook page for the blog, so I could try and find people who will want to check it out. I set the account up just fine, but for some reason no images would upload to my profile picture or my banner there??? Odd. So I deactivated the account. :/

I used to be on Facebook as myself until I deactivated my account in 2011 and I never had any problems before with uploading images.

Bryn Hammond (brynhammond) | 1505 comments Likewise, of course. I'd follow if I ever followed a blog but I haven't got into that habit. I bookmark to find them again. But I am newish in blogosphere.

message 1844: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) Yeah, I'm the first follower!!

Strange about Facebook, I just changed mine yesterday and it all worked fine.
I've finally figured out the basics of all this blog stuff so I'll be able to follow you without a Facebook page anyway. :)

message 1845: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (last edited Feb 06, 2013 02:53PM) (new)

Terri | 19576 comments Thanks guys. :)

I just found an interesting blog online and tried to work out HOW to follow in my Blogpsot username. I couldn't find out how to do it, so I bookmarked. lol. Bookmarking is easy. :)

It appears that to 'follow' it automatically downloads new posts from a persons blog to my computer?? I would be okay with that if I knew the person running the blog, but I wouldn't for these strangers blogs I am looking at.

This blog and feed world is so new to me. It is like learning the net all over again. :]

How did you sign up to follow. How does that whole thing work out, Dawn?

message 1847: by Bryn (new)

Bryn Hammond (brynhammond) | 1505 comments Yeah, that's why I daren't 'subscribe' or what have you. Fear of floods of emails. As for a feed, that to me means dinner and not much else...

How do you post on your own blog? Or how do you post a comment?

To post on your own blog. - On Blogspot you click either 'new post' at the top, or you go to the 'blog dashboard' and post from there.
I also have the app on my tablet so if I wanted I could post straight from my app to.

To comment. I can comment on people's blogs if I am signed into my blog. If I am not signed in and I am just Terri (not my pseudonym Medieval Mayhem) I have no idea how to comment. lol
