I'm totally with you Jane. Unfortunately my mind works that way.

In the same page you can also see how GR readers voted.
Personally I feel much more in accord with the GR list.
If someone is curious:

Happy New Year Mark...you know, I had to check on yr profile, because on my PC your new avatar reads: "of a better chickens can ad without motives quest". Which you'll admit sounds quite strange. :)

Saw that joke on a sign when I was visiting my sister back in November. It's a play on the joke "why did the chicken cross the road?"

Have to agree with you about the GR list read more on that list than the amazon one.

Not sure how I feel about that.

Think it was going to happen, I am wondering if the other companies which we can link to book by book are going to stay or be forced out.

I don't know about your next question. I know Kobo links reviews directly from GR, whether that will cease or not - would have to ask someone who actually uses theirs.
GR could also explode with many more members, I don't know if the site is ready for that. hahah

I couldn't see where the GR readers voted, but in the end, I only agreed with 6 books on Amazon's list. Then again, I am picky :-)

It is frustrating when the weather isn't consistent.

Glad to hear it Terri! Your posts were breaking my heart thinking of all those animals looking for water and you so worried about your farm :(

Weather has been very hot and humid here, but on the upside, we'v..."
Happy to hear that. Your cows and You suffered a lot the past couple of years. I wish a lot of green can be seen all year long from your window. Great to have a McLeod Daughter on board!

We are finally out of our cold snap - it got above freezing today and there is no snow in the forcast for at least the next week.
After the 10 inches we got last Sunday - I'm very grateful

You'll be pleased to know then, that they have all the grass they can eat and all the water they can drink. The ones that survived are happy campers at the moment. :)

thankyou for wishing this for us. :) I think it will come true. Things are looking really positive!
McLeod's Daughters have sooo much more drama in their lives than I do. lol. All those boyfriends and freakish accidents and bad guys. :D

How much snow do you have to get to have a day off work, happy?

It wasn't because it was snowing - we'd had about 36 inches (1 meter) in 3 or 4 days and everyone was expected to be at work during the storm. After the storm finally stopped they told all non essential personel to stay home, because they needed to plow the parking lots. Appearently they couldn't plow them during the storm, because they had to keep the runway open.

You are right. I guess GR readers are perfectly happy to read good classics, that maybe they have already at home, while Amazon is more interested to promote the sales of new books...:)

It doesn't take much to shut everything down around here. The Eastern Shore of Maryland doesn't get that much snow and when they do (over an inch) everyone frets. part of it is that our Roads crews just don't have the equipment to deal with the snow. And, people just don't know how to drive in the snow: they either drive like snails, creating problems, or they drive like they're on a raceway, creating different problems. I grew up in Canada and get really frustrated with the way in which people around here deal with snow.

I grew up in Delaware and remember if there was one flake of snow in the sky, school would be cancelled.

Sounds like England!

I failed my goal for the month of December. I thought I'd have loads of time to read. I'll be finishing up this month and getting to some of the group read books I've missed. I'm glad to see that February was added for catching up.

Anyone else noticed any changes?"
Yup - to be honest, I prefer it on the right side as it is now. That left hand stuff messed me up

Got that too.

On a not so related, random question for random thoughts: Is there a way to change your recommendations so you are only getting book in a certain language? I am getting a lot of recommendations lately in lots of various languages.

Just got that now.

Have rebooted my system & its seems to have been cleared (for now) although mcafee has been flagging pages for a few weeks now at random on GR - its linking it (the certificate) to an Amazon.com one - saying that the higher level cant be traced.... ??

Prolly yer boss saying that yer should be working not surfing GR ;D

Anyone else noticed any changes?"
I noticed the same thing. I couldn't get Update to work for awhile; now it does. I guess it didn't work while GR was doing their fiddling around.

I'm currently boss-less but good try :P

Goodreads and Firefox always have a problem. 'We are sorry but Firefox is not working. Do you want to wait, report or close?' Anyone having those problems?

Sounds to me like you may need to run a virus scan. No link you open should have personal information (unless it's suppose to, like a purchase receipt). So, looks to me like they're trying to get into your computer.
As for Firefox, they're a pain in the patooti. Like Gretchen, I use Chrome. Firefox is my back-up if I need a second browser open, or if certain sites aren't Chrome friendly.

Weather report. We are going into the single digits tomorrow. Today, however, the roses still cling to the vine (sweater weather) in the mid-south. I don't know anything about the rest of the country or the southern hemisphere, so someone should report. I hope to see one of the play-off football games played in a blizzard.
