I've surprisingly read 39 books out of 55 already - putting me 38% ahead. I guess I'll have to change my goal at some point. I've found I'm reading more with the Kindle and also being in discussions like this or various Goodreads or Amazon 'book clubs' What does everyone else think??

i usually do both reading in a book and in kindle to catch my goal i think im still on 10%..i read 3 books last month..and now starting with 2 books at the same time..wish me luck.. :)
You have read 74 books toward your goal of 125 books.74 of 125 (59%)
I can almost feel the Amazon gift cards this will earn me! ;)
I succumbed and put my reading goal to 30 books.I am 6% (1 book) behind - I blame it on A Game of Thrones and A Clash of Kings :P
Seriously though, I'm not obsessing about it. It's just a number that can be changed at will, so it's not much of a challenge really ;-)

you earn amazon gift cards for completing your challenge? This is the first I've heard of it.
You have read 72 books toward your goal of 104 books. 72 of 104 (69%)
Awesome, you're 31 books (29%) ahead of schedule!
I am new to Goodreads. Never knew about this online place until about 2 weeks ago. LOVE IT!!! I set my goal at 50. I may up it though depending on where I am at by the end of summer. I have 20 books read so far. According to goodreads I am one book behind.
I haven't worked out the number of pages or words but I have now read 128/150 64 (42%) ahead. I will have to increase my goal soon but I don't want to bite off more than I can chew and swallow. During the college and NFL season my reading time is drastically limited.
You have read 35 books toward your goal of 55 books. 35 of 55 (64%)
Awesome, you're 12 books (21%) ahead of schedule!
I am new to Goodreads so this is my first reading challenge. So far I have read 24 of the 50 I pledged for this year. I am 3 books ahead.

American football season hasn't started yet so I have lots of time to read. I am now at 139/175. I will probably have to increase the goal again but I hesitate in being too presumptuous.
I've read 160 books toward my goal of 365 books. 160 of 365 (44%)
At my current pace, I'm 6 books (2%) behind.

Been burning through books and now I realize that the point is to take it all in... I choose some 'heavy' authors & had better take a little more time and understand what it is they are talking about! I think I'm still doing alright for my goal (40 books), but... maybe I'm going for quantity over quality... Just sayin'!
It is easy to get caught up in the quantity of books over quality. I am glad that I kept my goal at 50. I love to read for a number of reasons. One of them is because I truly love the stories I read and I get lost in the story and characters. Then there are the spiritual books that I read which helps me to grow. I cannot achieve these things if I am burning through books just to reach a high goal. I do not ever want reading to become work.

I suspect Erin is getting gift cards from friends or family because with over 200,000 participants it seems unlikely they are giving out gift cards. We didn't get any last year. LOL
You have read 40 books toward your goal of 55 books. 40 of 55 (73%) Awesome, you're 14 books (25%) ahead of schedule!
my original goal was 55 books but since I was already at 52 I decided it was time to up it to 100. So now I feel like I'm starting over, but at least I'm 6% ahead at 54 books..... I've still got a lot of reading to do though ........ :)

Oh well.....it was a nice thought while it lasted.
Hey Thom...I know the feeling about watching certain sports that cut into my reading time too. The NBA season is over, so I will be able to read more until the college and NFL season starts. As men, we have it so rough!! :) Happy Reading Thom!!
I did terribly last year but didnt read much and didnt start the goal until the end of the summer. Barely got to 50This year have been reading a lot, and set it for 100, and almost at 70 finished.
Originally I stated that I would set my goal @ 200 but, I downgraded to 150. I started of a little slow this year but, so far I have read about 111 books towards my goal.
I am finally 1 book ahead. Have another fun read that I am starting, so now I need to get some reading on!!
I've currently read 180 books toward my goal of 365 books, almost halfway there (49%)! But still 4 books (1%) behind.
You have read 56 books toward your goal of 104 books. 56 of 104 (54%)
Great work, you're 4 books (3%) ahead.

Lawrence wrote: "I want the quality and not always the quantity. :) "Too true. That's something I raised in the suggestions group, wondering if we could have an enlarged challenge section where you could choose to set a number of books and/or add a list of books you wanted to read that year. You would then have a formal part of the site for that rather than joining groups where you say you want to do that (and that statement becomes buried in a swarm of other people's challenges).
It didn't get much interest, just people telling me that I could do it in their challenge group, go-on, join us, go-on...! No thanks!
I originally thought about setting myself an ironic target of 5000, but ended up putting one up at 30 - mainly because it's fairly realistic (I'm a little ahead of the pace of that) and an easy way of getting a reminder of the books I've read this year.
I'd be much more interested in setting myself books to read by the end of the year but will have to set up a bookshelf for that myself.
So far, I've read 10 of 30. (I'm 5 books behind.) I'm determined to make it, so I know I will, eventually.
Still behind in July but not as bad as it has been. You have read 74 books toward your goal of 150 books.
74 of 150 (49%)
At your current pace, you're 4 books (3%) behind.
