I've had an amazing run in 2011, though not in the quantity, at least in quality. And was a pretty close race among the Guide, the Positronic Man and many of Agatha Christie's novels. I pick The Positronic Man as the best of my reads, only for the reason that it left a lasting impression on me, would never be able to forget Andrew, the Bi-centennial Man, my heart goes out for him
Its a predicament that you have led me into. It is hard to pick one best book. The last four books of the HP series would definitely be here. But I'll be reading them again and again. 'Great Stories by Nobel Prize Winners', 'Interpreter of Maladies', 'The Emperor of All Maladies' were all great.
I would go with The Emperor of All Maladies
so many - I give up.
a few are Yuganta, Unaccustomed Earth, Secret Lives of Baba Segi's wives, Truthteller's lie, The Help,

I don't know, I have read a lot of good books this year.If I must choose only one I would say Lolita.
But it is unfair! I can't leave out The master and Margarita, the Love Stories of Bunin, all the russian tales, Mahabharata and Women Who Run with the Wolves which every woman should read at least once in a lifetime.
weven I was luck this year. Except few, there are lot of good books I've read this year. I listed hear the Top 5. As they usually say, "all are good in different aspects, so no ratings just top 5" :P
Siddhartha,
Before I Go to Sleep,
The Pillars of the Earth,
It's Not About the Bike: My Journey Back to Life and
The Last Lecture
Of the books that I read this year, although I rate the mystery novel The Moonstone and the classic Animal Farm higher, my book of the year would have to be Steve Jobs. This is because of the sheer delight in going through the life story of one of the most fascinating business personalities in the recent times.
My top 5 would be1) To kill a Mocking Bird
2) The murder of Roger Ackroyd
3) And then there were none
4) Spandau Phoenix
5) Far from the madding crowd
Here are my best books of 2011:Godfather,
Sea Of Poppies and River Of Smoke,
Last Song of Dusk,
Night, 1984,
Lord Of The Flies,
Quidditch Through The Ages And Fantastic Beasts And Where To FInd Them.
English fiction: Maybe because I had been picking books as per Library's catlog, I feel the books that I read last year is probably of little lower rating than what I had added to to-read list. So there are a few in the listRoom
Between the Assasinations
Jamrach's Menagerie
Disgrace
The Constant Gardener
English Non-fiction:
Breaking the Big Story: Great Moments in Indian Journalism
Homage to Catalonia
Island of Blood
Malayalam:
Aalahayude Penmakkal ആലാഹയുടെ പെണ്മക്കള്
തോട്ടിയുടെ മകൻ Thottiyude makan
Paleri Manikyam: Oru Pathirakolapathakathinte Katha പാലേരി മാണിക്യം ഒരു പാതിരാക്കൊലപാതകത്തിന്റെ കഥ
