message 418: by Kdbrand (new)

Kdbrand Hello! My name is Kim, and I am a middle school teacher (grades 6-8) in central Missouri (USA). Reading is a way for me to connect with students, and to escape reality for a little while. Also, I love spending time with my family and pets, watching movies, and learning more about technology to use in my classroom.

Some of my favorite authors are Scott Westerfeld, Maggie Stiefvater, and Sherrilyn Kenyon. I will read just about anything dsytopian, and adore science fiction and fantasy books. Currently, I am working my way through 16 books from our middle school library.

Welcome Kim! That's funny that you mentioned 'escape reality'. That's the title of the album I'm working on (I'm a musician). Sounds like you've got a great job!:)

message 420: by Michaela (new)

Michaela (michaeladianne) | 2 comments Hey, yall! My name is Michaela, I'm 15 years old and I'm from the US! I'm pretty much southern as they come, but, unlike the stereotype we get around the south, I'm not a complete redneck. My hobbies include cheer, dance, and, of course, reading. It's hard to choose a facorite book, so I'll just list a few: The Hunger Games Trilogy, Divergent and Insurgent (anxiously awaiting the 3rd book) and anything by Nicholas Sparks!

message 421: by Jordan (new)

Jordan (jordanbattaglia) Hi, I'm Jordan. I'm 16 almost 17 :) and from the U.S.
I love reading and I love to sing and dance.
I've been a little wary about joining a bookclub on goodreads, but this just looked so welcoming I decided to take a chance...
I love lots of different kinds of books but I love the Gone series by Michael Grant, I just read Delirium by Lauren Oliver and LOVED IT!, and I love John Green. I'll really read anything. I also just read Bumped and Thumped by Megan McCafferty. Those were cool. Really I like fun books that are also thought-provoking, and make you think about things you have never thought about before.

message 422: by Ally (new)

Ally Hi Kim, Michaela, and Jordan! Welcome the group! I'm Ally, nice to meet you :)

@Michaela - I love all of those books! Though I can't say I've read much Nicholas Sparks...

@Jordan - I LOVE John Green books. You should totally check out his youtube channel if you haven't already, very funny.

message 423: by Brandt (last edited Jul 03, 2012 10:01PM) (new)

Brandt (brandtjohnson) Welcome Michaela and Jordan! It's great to have you both here.

Michaela- I love The Hunger Games and a lot of people are saying that the soon-to-be Divergent trilogy is up to par with it, so I'm excited to read it!

Jordan- I have been a member of Goodreads for a little more than a week (I think?) and I was hesitant about joining a bookclub too. But I'm so glad I did, because I've met some awesome people and have discovered some great books!

I play three different instruments and take several music courses and love to volunteer. Of course though, I love getting absorbed in a book and living in another world for a day.

Thanks for being the first to welcome me Brandt! Escaping reality keeps me sane. Seriously though, I think the longer a person teaches the more he/she develops traits of his/her students. I do like my job.

Good luck with your music!
