This started off kind of slow, Jaxnsmom, but once it picked up, I ended up liking the book more than I thought I would :)

That is why I am trying to get it read first:) Although I generally have not liked Stephen King translated to TV series or movies. I haven't read his books in years 1989 to be exact I stopped after The Tommyknockers.

Finished . LOVED it! UNDER THE DOME was one of the few King books I didn't care much for. , OTOH, is one of the best books I've read these past few years!

Currently, I'm finishing the last (to date) of Barbara D'Amato's Chicago Police series---which, by the way, seem to have been published out of order. Killer.App's date was listed as the earliest in the series (so I read it first), but Good Cop, Bad Cop's events actually precede those of Killer.App; Authorized Personnel Only's events take place after those of Killer.App. (That's what I'm finishing now.)

Though I like to read series in order, the only problem this caused was my knowing that characters wouldn't die because they were part of later events.

I am nearly finished with both and . The first is holding my interest a lot more than the second, perhaps because I've seen the movie for the second and "know" how it's all going to work out?

I'm still working my way through an ARC of , although it's not so 'advance' now, since the book was released last week :) It's an interesting read, it just takes me longer to finish books on my Kindle than it does to read print (dead tree) books.

I've never heard of this series, but I'm thinking of adding it to my ever-expanding TBR list. Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra were great. Peter Lawford and Sammy Davis, Jr. were good, too. Even the extras, Joey Bishop, Angie Dickinson, and Shirley MacLaine, were fun.

Anyone else read this series? I'm looking to find out if it captures the era and the camaraderie and humor of the group while weaving in a good mystery and story.

I've only read the first in the Rat Pack series, Karen, but I really enjoyed it. I think it did a pretty good job of representing the times and the traits of the group, but you'd have to read it yourself, I think, to judge for yourself :) The first one is Everybody Kills Somebody Sometime, and the author is Robert J. Randisi.

IMHO, he nails the era and relationship between the guys. Peter Lawford doesn't figure very heavily in the books, since he was such a fringe member anyway and became persona non grata after the Kennedy trip to Palm Springs. I've read them all prior to this one and am half way through it and have the newest one waiting. I also like how people whose names you know make "cameo" appearances here and there. Eddie G is usually doing a favor for one or another of the guys, that's how it starts off in the first one.

I loved it...up until the chapters after the reveal. I didn't like that although there had been hints to his motivation, we never fully understand why he did what he did. I know that is very "real-lifelike" and I can tell that it was a deliberate decision by the author, but I still found it frustrating.
