Just finished Moonrise by Cassandra King, a southern gothic story which is great and The Small Hand and Dolly (2 novellas in one book) by Susan Hill. Great ghost stories told in the English manner by the women who wrote the The Woman in Black which was made into a movie.

I am now reading Carole Radziwill's book The Widow's Guide to Sex and Dating. I am about a third through and am finding it a very good novel. For those who guilty pleasure is watching the Real Housewives, in this case, New York, this is the book that they are fighting about. Radziwill's credentials are impeccable so I don't think she had a ghost writer.
I just finished William Shakespeare's The Empire Striketh Back and enjoyed it as much as the first book, William Shakespeare's Star Wars: Verily, a New Hope. The story itself is a lot of fun, but the illustrations make it even better :)
I'm listening to The Wise Man's Fear, which is about 43 hours long. I'm almost halfway thru, it's very long but well worth it.
Hi! I am more than half-way thru "Life of Pi." By author, Yann Martel. Life of Pi It starts out somewhat slow and a little bogged down.. However, once the adventure begins it is riveting! Imagine being the lone human survivor of a large cargo ship that went down in the open waters of the Pacific. The ship had wild animals on it that were being transported to American Zoos. A Bengal Tiger also survived and made his way to the life boat. My heart is definitely pounding at many parts of this adventure.

However, onc..."I listened to this book when it first came out and was amazed and at times horrified by it. I was working in my garden while listening to it and at one point shouted, "Make it stop, make it stop!!!!" Fortunately I live in a neighborhood where no one can hear me.
It is well worth finishing it. It is fantastic.
Time to get the winter weight off, so I am reading The Sugar Smart Diet. A lot of what I read I already knew, and the diet is similar to South Beach etc, but this book also gave wonderful ways of curtailing cravings and changing eating habits. I'm actually enjoying the book and the diet.
Reading The Heart of the 5 Love Languages and Say Goodbye to Survival Mode: 9 Simple Strategies to Stress Less, Sleep More, and Restore Your Passion for Life.
I just finished Born in Fire, book 1 of the Irish Born Trilogy and am reading the second Born in Ice. I don't usually read many romances but these are interesting and have kept my attention. Also reading a mystery by James Lee Burke, Light of the World. A cozy this is not as his Dave Robicheaux books are violent and gritty. I love his characters.

I am currently reading
by one of my favorite authors, Robert Parker. I always look forward to spending time with Spenser and Hawk.
I am reading Morning Glory by Sarah Jio. I have loved all of her books and this one so far is just as good
I just finished
. It was quite interesting, except for one small part which really got on my nerves.
I'm listening to
, an emotionally charged telling of one boy's experiences during the civil war in Sudan. Really excellent!

I just completed listening to the BOCD of LOST LAKE and enjoyed it. The narrator is quite good and if you like BOCDs I recommend listening to LOST LAKE. The Southern accents are impeccable and really bring the characters to life. Enjoy your read!
I finished Lost Lake by Sarah Addison Allen and it was everything I had hoped. I love Southern Fiction and this novel did not disappoint. I have not listened to any books on CD but maybe I'll give it try, Joni. I just love holding a real book in my hands.
I am now starting a book called the Witch's Daughter by Paula Brackston which is a paranormal story in that its main character, Elizabeth anne Hawksmith is 384 years old. Sounds interesting.

I've read The Winter Sea and Mariana. I enjoy the fantasy and paranormal aspects of both, and plan to read more.
The Witch's Daughter was a great read so I decided to read another of Paula Brackston's book, The Midnight Witch that takes place in Edwardian England.
Shirley: I downloaded that one too. Let me know how you like it, please.
(I can't read it right now.)

Nancy, I just finished
and was highly surprised what a good read it was and how well I thought it was written. The plot was well-paced and had lots of twists and turns. Although the main character is a tough ex-cop, the author shows a touching side as he learns to cope with a recent diagnosis that causes him to accept help from his young client. Thoroughly enjoyed every chapter and was a nice change away from my cozies.
Recently finished Jane Ridley's biography, The Heir Apparent, A Life of Edward VII, The Playboy Prince. If you are a history buff and especially like British history, you will find this right up your alley. The Author makes this an enjoyable reading bringing King Edward VII to life.

I'm glad you liked it. I have it on my mp3 player and am looking forward to getting to it soon.
I saw you're in Ashburn. I lived in Northern Virginia many years and made the trip down Rt. 7 quite often, usually to Leesburg.

Just finished The Last Dead Girl by Harry Dolan, a murder mystery thriller. Creepy characters and a dark story, well written. Definitely kept my interest.
Just finished The Hiltons, A Family Dynasty and The Valley of Amazement (Amy Tan) Both are great reads.
I just finished
. It was unbelievable! The story centers around the history of Grand Central Station in NYC. Pretty well written and the pace and mystery are so so good through the end. I cant wait for her next book :)
I'm reading Travels with Charley: In Search of America. John Steinbeck traveled around the country with his dog Charley in an effort to rediscover America.
