Bridgette | 5 comments Hello, my name is Bridgette. I am an avid reader and a fair portion of my reads last year were Cozy Mysteries. I have a stack of them already marked as "want to read" for the future and will surely add to the list. I joined a while back, so figured I was overdue to say hello.
My absolute favorite Cozy Mystery series right now is Susan M. Boyer's Liz Talbot Mystery series!

I haven't been getting notifications, so I'm behind here.

Welcome Agnieszka. I love your giraffe!

Hi Rose. I love audiobooks and am always looking for good narrators.

Hey Donald. Glad you found us.

Hi Bridgette. Glad you came here to say hi. You should find it easy to add new cozies to your tbr :)

Welcome Donald. We have a folder for Authors and Bloggers. Scroll down the main page to find it. You can tell us more about your blog there.

Welcome Bridgette. We're glad you decided to introduce yourself. I'm also a fan of the Liz Talbot series, it was a featured read last November.

Christopher Huang (christopher_huang) | 17 comments Hi. My name is Christopher Huang. I'm a fan of "golden age" detective fiction ... I guess I'm more than a little old-fashioned. I haven't read very much modern mystery, unfortunately. My favourite part of reading a mystery is following the clues and trying to solve the mystery before the detective makes the grand denouement ... I like the focus to be on that, so I get a bit annoyed when it's too far off. If you have any recommendations, I'd love to hear them.

I've also got a mystery novel written, and I'm hoping to get it published in the near future.

Welcome Christopher. This group is full of recommendations. Cozy mysteries are often described as styled after Agatha Christie. The major mystery awards in this genre are called Agatha Awards. In one of our discussion topics, members name their favorite mystery series. That's a good place to start for recommendations.

Hi Christopher. Although I don't go back as far as you, I really love the older cozies without all the frills. Although there are still quite a few without them, and there are lots of new series that I enjoy even with all the fashion talk :)

You might want to check out the thread for British cozies.

Welcome Joanne. I'm not as familiar with the knitting ones, but is the pet one the Dixie Hemingway series by Blaize Clement which starts with Curiosity Killed the Cat Sitter (A Dixie Hemingway Mystery, #1) by Blaize Clement ? I love Mrs. Polifax! That series is a great cozy series. I hope you have good luck finding affordable cozies - maybe the second hand bookshops will have more.

Tom Baker is one of my favorite Doctors. I tried knitting the scarf years ago, but never finished it.

Welcome to the group Joanne. I can think of two knitting shop series:

Maggie Sefton has a knitting mystery series. The main character owns a knitting shop in Colorado. You may be thinking of Knit One, Kill Two.
Knit One, Kill Two (A Knitting Mystery, #1) by Maggie Sefton

Sally Goldenbaum has a series set in a New England shore town - Massachusetts? The first one in that series is Death by Cashmere.

Faith (faithallington) Hi all! My name is Faith, I'm an avid tea drinker (with milk) and lover of golden age cozy mysteries. My favorite author is Ngaio Marsh but of course I love them all and always looking for more!

Looking forward to joining in discussions! I have to admit I mostly read those set in the 1920s but I've read modern ones too and enjoyed them.

If you haven't seen it, there's a nice 1920s series just started with Parker Posie https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2... (the first book used to be included free on Kindle for Prime but haven't checked recently)

Welcome Faith! I've been trying different teas/herbal teas in the last year. Right now my favorite is a rooibos chai, with a minty herbal blend close behind. What types do you drink?

Thank you! What a nice group!

I'm fond of Earl Grey and Assam with milk in the mornings. Afternoon is jasmine, citrus or other herbals :) I've had some nice rooibos chai too!

Welcome to the group Faith.

I'm a Daisy Dalrymple fan. She's a reporter in 1920s England with an uncanny knack for discovering dead bodies. The mysteries are light and easy-to-read. Some of the later entries include the perspective of a police detective, Alec Fletcher, which gives the books a touch of police procedural.

I don't think I've tried Assam - I'll have to look for it. I have some jasmine white tea that I keep forgetting about :) In another group we designed two teas for out readathons through designatea.com. It was fun deciding what blends we wanted.

Faith (faithallington) jaxnsmom - oooh, that site looks quite intriguing. I'll have to try it out sometime.

Nell - great to meet you all virtually :) I should try the Dalrymple series, sounds like fun. I like that genre for sure!

Christopher Huang (christopher_huang) | 17 comments People have recommended that I check out the Phryne Fisher mysteries. That's 1920s Australia. I haven't yet, but I caught an episode of the televised series, and it looks pretty fascinating. I mean, 1920s Australia, after all.

Josh (joshlanyon) | 9 comments Hello! I'm going to be lazy -- and I apologize in advance -- and just copy and paste my intro.

I'm an author -- I write as Josh Lanyon and Diana Killian (DON'T WORRY, I WILL NOT SPAM YOU) and a long time mystery fanatic.

As Diana Killian I write the Mantra for Murder mysteries and the Poetic Death mysteries. Well, I used to. Now days I primarily write as Josh Lanyon.

I'm married to Kevin Burton Smith of the Thrilling Detective Website, I perform with the Browne Sisters and George Cavanaugh (Celtic music) and I'm currently working on (among other things) a non-fiction book for McFarland Press on husband and wife sleuths in detective fiction.

I lurk a lot. ;-D

Welcome out of lurkdom - even it's only for a brief visit. I didn't realize that Diana Killian was a pen name. There's even a picture on her author page.

btw - When you scroll down the main discussion page, there's a folder for authors where you can talk about your books or let us know when a new release is coming out.

BLynne Hello. I am Brandi. I am new to reading cozy mysteries. I have actually only read two of them but find that I am becoming a fan. I tend to read everything. I recently finished my masters degree and now have more time to read for fun. I live in Idaho with two cats, Emma and Tibble.

Welcome Agnieszka, Rose, Don, Bridgette, Christopher, Joanne, Faith, Josh/Diana and Brandi! Rose, you said you lived on the Oregon coast. Which town? The reason I ask is that my daughter lives in Portland and when we visit her, we often rent a cottage on the coast for a few days. I'm always looking for new places to explore!

Well, after all, having a pen name doesn't mean I'm not a real person! That is a real (though out-of-date) photo.

What I need is one of those very dignified Mary Stewart style author pics. The black dress. The pearls. The look of wisdom. And financial security. ;-)

I am an avid reader and have recently discovered the cozy mystery line. Currently ready Rose Pressey ' If You've Got it Flaunt It' and The Charmed Mystery Series 'Pies and Prejudice'. I am also listening to (love audiobooks) Sue Grafton's series and am up to M is for Malice. I have read heavier mysteries and stuff in the past (Patricia Cornwall, Stephen King, etc) but find now that I like the lighter genre.

Looking forward to interacting with the group!

Pam (maddustkitties) | 3 comments Hi everyone! My name is Pam. I discovered I enjoy cozy mysteries when a friend suggested Death By Cashmere by Sally Goldenbaum. I knit, so she thought I would enjoy it. She was right! I read Agatha Christie books years ago, but I didn't really know what a 'cozy' mystery was.

So, now I'm all excited! I ordered a Kindle from Amazon this weekend, I updated my information on Goodreads, my amazon wishlist is bursting, and I'm ready to get cozy. lol

A little about me: I'm 56 years old, I live with my cat Nigel, I have two boys (grown and married), and I have two little granddaughters.

It's nice to meet you all.

message 1136: by Christopher (new)

Christopher Huang (christopher_huang) | 17 comments Hi Pam! I've always enjoyed the Agatha Christie books too. I knew what I liked and, for a while, I just wasn't finding it, so I ended up deciding to write my own. Now, of course, I'm discovering how much there is on the market that I just never found back then.

I hope you enjoy your new discoveries! My favourite part is trying to figure out how all the clues fit together in the end, before the detective actually puts them together and fingers whodunnit.

I remember when finding a book, unless it was a best seller, was a treasure hunt. Now with the internet, they're all at our fingertips. Although I do still enjoy going through book stores, especially old ones, but at least we can find what we're looking for now.

Kim (catmommie) Hi everyone. I'm a former member, coming back. My name is Kim, I live in Connecticut. I'm married and a catmommie to Chippee. Besides reading (not only cozies), I like to cook, loom knit for charity, and I'm an Avon Rep. I volunteer at a feral cat rescue (ok, so I play with cats for a couple of hours a week). I think that's it for now :).
