2012 January - Pick It For Me! Challenge

I just put in a library request for City of Bones. I'll let you know when I pick it up so we can do the buddy read."
Okay(:

Here are your picks
Welcome the New Year
1. First Day: A kiss of shadows By Laurell K Hamilton
2. Second Day: Chasing Perfect By Susan Mallery
3. Third Day: Country Brides: A Little Bit Country\Country Bride By Debbie Macomber

During the Year:
4. Goodbye, Rabbit!: Old Magic by Marianne Curley
5. Welcome, Dragon!: The Game of Love By Jeanette Murray
6. Poor Cat: Mckettricks of Texas: Tate by Linda Lael Miller
7. Pass the Luck Around: Ruthless By Anne Stuart

Celebrate The New Year (Buddy Reads)
8. Spread The Love: Texas Destiny By Lorriane Heath
9. Lantern Festival: White Heat By Brenda Novak

I’m so so sorry it took me so long! Well, the books we read are worlds apart, so I hope you like the picks! :D
1. First Day: Once and Always by Judith Mcnaught
This is a historical romance, one of my personal favourites. I realised you don’t really read romance, let alone historical romance which is actually my favourite genre. So I chose this because I feel most people do enjoy this book whether or not they like the author. There is another book I like more, Whitney My Love, but that book has more negative reviews. Since you don’t seem to have read historical romance, I think its better to go with the safer choice!
2. Second Day: The Gathering by Kelley Armstrong
I chose this because I’ve read The Summoning and I really enjoyed it. I saw that you did enjoy that trilogy too, and I realised she was one of your favourite authors. I think it looks really good, and I think you’ll enjoy it!
3. Third Day: A Hunger Like No Other by Kresley Cole
Alright, its not very long, only about 360 pages according to GR. But it does seem interesting and it does have a pretty high rating! I’ve wanted to read it for quite a while, just never really got round to it.
4. Goodbye, Rabbit!: A Venetian Affair by Catherine George, Susan Stephens, Lucy Gordon
Hmm, I’ve never really chosen books according to country, and the only books I can think of that are set in different countries would be Harlequin books. The one I selected is set in Italy, Venice to be exact. It’s 3 books in one but they all really touched me in different ways.
5. Welcome, Dragon!: Trey by Cat Johnson
I saw this in your TBR, and instantly fell in love with it. It looks soooo good! :D And it does have a pretty hot bod on the cover! :D
6. Poor Cat: Uglies by Scott Westerfeld
I read this book ages ago and really really loved it. Coincidentally, it was recommended to me for this month’s PIFM. But yeah, its been in your TBR for more than a year. I do have a really strong impression of it. And if you know me, that’s saying something, because I can barely recall the books I read a month ago, let alone a book I read 5-6 years ago?
7. Pass the Luck Around: Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
I really enjoyed this series. It was recommended to me during the Oct PIFM. I read it and I got so addicted, I went to pick up the next 5 books. I also got started on her newest series, set in the same world! It’s a paranormal YA, but the characters are not really childish and immature. Most characters are likable and if you like strong, smart-ass heroines, then you’ll really love the book! I don’t really love those kind of heroines, but I absolutely adored the plot!
8. Spread The Love: The Forbidden Game by L.J. Smith
I know, I know, I’ve read this trilogy before. But its so good, I just have to read it again! Its really really amazing, though I’m not sure whether is it your type of book.
So, I’m just gonna recommend another book, No Mercy (Dark-Hunter, #19) by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I noticed you read almost the whole of the Dark Hunter series? You seem to have enjoyed it pretty much and so I thought why not continue the series? I intend to read this book really soon, because I’ve dragged on way too long!
9. Lantern Festival: Silent Blade by Ilona Andrews
Silent Blade looks amazing. But since its just a really short story, I’ll recommend a few more.
The Sword: A Novel by Bryan M. Litfin looks really good. I haven’t really read this genre but I would sure love to!
Samson's Lovely Mortal by Tina Folsom
It looks pretty good. As a rule, I try to stay away from eroticas but the reviews look really good!
Wicked Games by Jill Myles
One word. Wow. I have to read this book. It looks so so good. I think I’m gonna read this book, but I would love it if you like to join me!
So, those are my picks for you! I really hope you like it! :D And if my comments seem a little weird, pardon me, I can’t seem to express myself properly today… XD And though we don’t seem to have a lot in common, I’ve found many books on your TBR that I must read:D

Welcome the New Year:
1. First Day: Uglies by Scott Westerfeld I had so many amazing books to suggest that are out of your comfort zone, but..."
Hey Thenia, thanks for the awesome picks! :D I really can't decide what to read! I definitely want to read Splendid. Divergent looks really really amazing, I would be glad to do a buddy read with you! Though I may not read those type of books a lot, secretly, I really enjoy them! I wouldn't mind reading Potent Pleasure, but the reviews kinda put me off. The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie looks good and I would love to read it with you too! Just the Sexiest Man Alive is a book I've been putting on hold for wayyy too long. I'll probably read it! :D I may read Perfect Chemistry but I'm not too sure about that, it's not really the type of age group that I like to read about.
Anw, thanks for the awesome picks! :D

Welcome the New Year
1. First Day: The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty..."</i>
I finished [book:Caressed By Ice today - even though sometimes lately I've been a feeling a bit overfull of paranormal series I am really enjoying this one - I loved this book just like the first 2, the book furthers the plot of the series but doesn't lose focus on the 2 main characters.
I've been rationing this series to 1 book a month so I'm not waiting for the new one too soon so only 1 month to go!

Indeed! LOL!

I’m so so sorry it took me so long! Well, the books we read are worlds apart, so I hope you like the picks! :D

Flame,
Thank you so much for the picks! For starters, I would like to read "Wicked Games" with you. Please let me know when you are ready to read it. I also plan on reading the two short stories "Silent Blade" and "Trey." I also tried reading "Uglies" before, but put it down. Since you highly recommend it, I would like to try again. Hopefully I will be able to fit it in this month as well!

I'm lucky enough to do your picks for you, hopefully there is something in here you are interested in reading, and I tried to give you multiple choices for each category.
1. First Day
Faith & Fidelity or Bear, Otter, and the Kid - I saw you had quite a few m/m on your maybe read shelf, but none on your actual read or to-read shelf. These are 2 books that i've enjoyed in the genre, F&F was one of the first ones i've ever read and Bear, Otter and the Kid was a more recent read.
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn - i've never actually read this book, but I saw you didn't have a lot of classics on your shelf and if you participate in the Random Book Challenge, this is one of the ones that was posted on the list today.
2. Second Day
Ohh, lots of good series out there, how about continuing the In Death series with Reunion in Death (i just listened to this one a few months ago and it is probably one of my favorites to date) or since you also like Nora under her traditional name, the first book in her new trilogy is The Next Always. If you aren't in the mood for her, then how about trying out JR Ward's other series with Covet
3. Third Day - yay, its 3rd day today...unfortunately, I don't get to stay at home, I have to work :( I wish I was at home, curled up with a good book. A couple of longer books on your shelf are The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (this is a bit slow at the beginning, but I ended up really enjoying it - and if you do audiobooks the narrator is good)...or Cast in Shadow
4. Goodbye Rabbit - I love reading books that are set in different countries, in fact, i've been slowly working my around the world. How about trying Between Shades of Gray - a YA set in Lithuania and Serbia - I really enjoyed it last year when I read it, but I did cry in places or The Tiger's Wife - I haven't actually read this one yet, but one of my groups is doing it as a GR next month and i'm looking forward to it since it was one of the most talked about books of 2011.
5. Welcome Dragon

6. Poor Cat
i had fun going through your to-read shelf and found some books that are def. worth being pushed up - Unwind - this is one of the best YA Dystopia's i've read in a while and it really made me think - the second book is going to be out later on this year...or Sweet as Sin - Inez Kelley is an author I discovered a few years ago and then rediscovered this past year - a cute contemporary romance.
7. Pass The Luck Around
I read so many good books in the past year - two of which were Master of Crows - this is a fantasy romance that I really enjoyed or Letters From Home - a romance set during WW2 and told through letters
8. Spread the Love - I have a ton of books that i'm getting ready to read if you are interested: Daughter of Smoke and Bone; Firespell or When She Woke
9. Lantern Festival
You had lots of books on your shelf that i'm interested in and several which i have marked for a challenge i'm currently doing, so how about Hush or Where She Went...I was also drawn to Dearly, Departed, but any book that has a cover like

I'll start the book tonight then!!

Thanks so much for the picks, Dee. Some great picks this month.
I plan to tackle Reunion in Death, The Next Always and possibly one of the hot bodies too! I've tried to pick up The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo a few times, so I might try it again. lol

I had a great time wandering around in your shelves, here is my picks for you, hope you can find something you'll like...
Welcome the Year
1.First Day - Well you have a wide range of reading so it is a little difficult to find a book out of your comfort zone :)
I really liked Zero at the Bone and Sweet Persuasion - the first one is a M/M crime/detective story with obvious romance :) the second was has some BDSM in it with a love story in the back ground, my favourite book of the series.
2.Second Day - Fire - I still haven't started to this series but you seemed to like the first book so maybe it is time to read the second one.
3.Third Day - Kiss of Crimson nice paranormal romance garnished with a few hot scenes would sure keep you occupied.
Inkheart - I haven't read it but heard nothing but good things about this one.
During the New Year
4.Goodbye, Rabbit - The Princess Diaries - well even though Genovia is not a real country it still counts, right?
A Discovery of Witches - It was a slow read but I really enjoyed it and most of it is outside USA - well almost all of it.
5.Welcome, Dragon! - Nicholas - definitely a hot cover, isn't it?
Tempted - I read a few Megan Hart books and I really liked Broken, but Switch not so much anyway this cover is really suitable here and if you decide to read this I am in for a buddy read.
6.Poor Cat - Holding the Dream - this seems to be neglected for enough time :)
7.Pass the Luck Around - A Quick Bite it was a PIFM rec a few months ago and it is a fun and easy read.
Celebrate the New Year
8.Spread the Love - I am going with the series we both have in our TBRs, My Blood Approves or Inside Out or The Iron King
9.Lantern Festival - Uglies or Flat-Out Sexy or as I mentioned above Tempted
Happy Readings!!!
