I changed my goal quite a lot this year. I started the year with a goal of 125, then upped it to 150. Then I got into this reading funk (which I think I'm finally getting out of) and realized I wasn't going to hit 150, so I dropped it back to 145.

It's a brick though.
My challenge says that I'm 2 books ahead so I'll probably make it... I hope!
According to GR this year I've read 129 books, but according to my list I've read 136... My original challenge was for 160, I changed it to 150, but am now thinking 140 is more reasonable... (I didn't hardly read at all in September- October, after being flooded twice in August and September.)

I completed my goal of 50 books at the end of October, I started it in July I think but I went back and marked some I read earlier in the year too although I do a lot of re-reading and I never count those, to now I have read 57 (minus re-reads), I think next year I will give myself a goal of 100.

I'm done. 120 books, and reading my 121st very slowly. Since the end of December is always dreadfully busy at school, my guess is I will only be done with it at the beginning of January.

Last year I read 62 books, and I think I might beat that (if narrowly) this year. I try not to set up quantitative reading goals ever since doing that a couple of years running and getting sort of burnt out on reading (it started feeling like a chore). Funnily enough I "fixed" it by only allowing myself to read 30 books in a year (I broke that vow, but not by much. If you count The Great Book of Amber as one book. *shuffles feet*)

I didn't really read much for classes... I barely cracked a book.
I originally signed up for 70. I went on a crazy book bender and hit that pretty quickly, so I upped it to 100. Then I had to move and life changed and I did clear 100, but I'm slowing down a lot. Next year, I think I'll put it back to 75, because I think that's pushing it.

I put 50 down as last year after barely reading I did 20. In the summer I realsied I was way ahead so put 70, currently on 71.

I'll definitely hit 50K pages, but I lowered my challenge again from 145 to 140. That's still up from the original 125 I had chosen at the beginning of the year, but I was feeling stressed that I wouldn't finish, so I "cheated". LOL

Woooo! I did it! ;)
I pledged 45 books, as I have work and school, I'm now 2 over and reading a 3rd, but as I saw some people post that it felt like work. I think, therefore, I may only up by pledge nest year by one if I up it at all.

I think you can reach your goal, not reach your goal, or even blow it out of the water! I think they should disable this feature from a given point in the year, and at that point what you goal is you have to live wit it. What do you think?

"I think it's a personal goal, not a binding contract, and therefore people can change or adjust as they choose. If Goodreads starts mandating that what we set initially is what we are stuck with, I think lots of people (myself included) would stop participating.
I started out with a goal of 50 books, but I reached that around July, so I increased it to 80. I'm at 84 now. Since I didn't join Goodreads until sometime in March, that number is likely a little low. I had a hard time remembering if I finished certain books in January or December, so I didn't count them for this year. Although a few books were on the short side, I did read at least 15 books with over 500 pages, and at least 3 or 4 had over 900 pages. I think it all balanced out in the end.

I finished my 200 goal yesterday. Not sure what I hit page wise. Haven't looked
I took most of the year off from reading, so I'm looking at the rather conservative goal of 12. I'm half way through that last book right now.

     Did it hurt, Greyweather?
Did it hurt, Greyweather? I don't know if I would be able to do that. I get... pissy. There would be blood. O_o
I finished my goal of 20,000 pgs in mid-December. It turned out to be 58 books, and I expect to finish a few more by the end of the year. It was a good year for reading...

I initially set a goal of 100, but was verging on that by a few months ago so I pushed it up to 105. Hit that the other day. I think I still have one or two more books left in me this year though!

Nah, I was just burnt out and wasn't enjoying reading at the time. I've taken breaks before, just not usually for so long.
signed up for 120, hit 146 or 54,172 pages. about 20 of the 146 were graphic novels though so they dont really count as whole books.

I think I'll sign up for 70 this year if goodreads is doing it again. This is generally the only goal I set all year that I REALLY enjoy. I <3 reading!!!

I shot for 24 at the beginning of year and finished my 24th earlier this week. That was a pretty realistic estimate as I'm usually around 20 or so a year. It was just high enough to make sure I kept reading.

I hit 50,000 pages, and I'm definitely going to make the 145 amended (again) goal. Next year I have fewer bricks planned, so I'm going to go for a higher goal I think. I'm thinking 175ish.

 Congrats Becks!
Congrats Becks!I made my goal of 150 books, but I think I'll be a couple thousand shy of 50,000 words :(
Still, it was a great reading year!
      Hit my 125.
Becks is crazy I tells ya. Crazy

I'm at 98 and should be at 99 by tomorrow. It started to feel like work to me, so for 2012 I'm only signing up for 52.
So 98% complete.
