We do not remove books that have been published. Readers want the version they read on their shelves which includes cover and name matches.

Edit: added edition since it is published under a different name it will not show on your Todd author profile you can add a hyperlink to your author description or claim the jake profile as well

Even if it isn't possible to remove a book from Goodreads, is it at least possible to remove a book from my author profile? I don't think it is unreasonable for an author to have control over what is displayed there.

This is a book cataloging site so the people who have bought and reviewed your book are expecting it to be allocated to the author profile of the author which is why it is not possible to remove.

Edit: GR is like a library, they do not remove books from shelves or alter the author name on the library catalogue because another edition is published under a different name

The one I did not delete has a 1999 publication date, and WorldCat indicates that an edition was published in 1999.

I don't see anything that shows that the 2002 edition is the same book. It is possible that the book was published in a 1999 edition (without an ISBN) and republished later in 2002 with the same cover and an ISBN.

Do you have the actual physical book in hand? If so, it could help to clear things up. :)

I don't have book from 1999 so i can't tell. Nevermind, i can't find it on publisher web page...only edition from 2002. I get confused because page number is only 368 and every edition i saw have more then 500 pages.
Better not delete then if you think that worldcat have all books. Thanks for help.

ambyr, those may actually be legitimate editions. They are not showing as floor displays or prepaks on B&N or Amazon. Also, the pricing on the those sites reflects normal book pricing.

On the change log, it looks like the titles were "updated" by Goodreads using possibly bad info from the publisher. See the following thread:
