ditto for this: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/10...

I think people who rated it may have mistaken this entry for the actual book itself.
PS - can the "books" in #52 be deleted by a super?

Both are duplicates of the most popular edition

There are two pages (9455863\8070349) for the same book, one of which does not look like a reflection of actual existing printed copy.
Should it be deleted? If so, should it be done through the “delete this book” option here?
Which version of the author name is correct? It's always better to combine and THEN delete, which moves over any users who have shelved the book (even though there don't seem to be any in this case, it's still the best precaution).

“When editing or adding information for a book written by an author with multiple names, enter the author's name as on the front cover as the primary author. The author's other names may be added in the other author fields.”
So should “Ник Горькавый” be renamed into “Ник. Горькавый”, and the full name be added through “another author” field?
Also, the book pages do not see each other in the “Other Editions” field. Is that because the author's names differ, or the references need to be added manually somehow?
*Nick. is always put with a dot at the end on the covers as a shortened version of Nickolai, I guess

What does the Library of Congresss (if anything) use?

So the quoted guide fragment refers only to cases when author's pen-name strongly differs from his original name?
>What name is he known / most published under?
AFAIK, he's written 3 books so far, and all of them use “Ник. Горькавый” on their cover pages. LoC does not know about him.

Personally I would go with his full correct name but others may disagree

2. But if you do not keep multiple names of the same author, then shouldn't the related guide-part be changed as well? I think that now its statement is a bit obscure.
About the aforementioned books: I'd offer renaming the author to «Николай Николаевич Горькавый» and just putting all newer books of him under that name as well.
How do you do it, though? Is it as simple as renaming the author in book properties?
And one more question: does the system keep an option of undoing user's actions? In other ways, if one messes up with book edition, how hard is it to recover form the mess?

Easiest way to do it is to copy the author name for the correct author profile and paste into the incorrect profile - you will then merge the profiles and be prompted on which one to keep. There is no undo on this function.
If you edit a book page there is an undo function for some edits.
As for the manual - there are lots of things missing/ not indepth - so check there, then search this forum or ask and some one will be able to guide you.
Just as FYI
We do not have Anton Chekov, Anton Pavlovich Chekhov or variations there of - He is known as Anton Chekov.
What does happen is the addition of transliterated name in the 2nd position so we could add Arabic - أنطون تشيخوف and Spanish version of the name linked to a profile in that language if someone adds that detail.
What we also do not do is add Ant.Chekhov as a shortened version

My questions are getting too long for this thread, I think. Is there something like an IRC-support channel? Google gives me nothing on that.

Then start a new thread. We do not have a chat feature, IRC or otherwise.

A book with an ISBN is by definition not a placeholder. I also see no reason to think that ISBN is invalid -- it passes the check-digit test.

Because the description said "complete edition" I've been searching the web to see if I can find a book that covers the entire series - no success. It would have to include roughly 12 x 200 pages. I also searched the Indonesian publisher's webshop (Jump comics is the Japanese imprint, Death Note is published by M&C comics in Indonesia) and couldn't find this "12 volume complete edition" there either ("http://www.gramediaonline.com/results... note&Category_DropDown=0")
Long story short, I think it can be deleted, I've combined it with the first volume in the series now.

Please delete this book.
It's information are not correct. I'll create it again with the proper information.
Thank you.

Re 134 - there is no need to delete the information can be edited - please create a new thread with the information to be changed - it has a valid ISBN
Got 135 and 136

There is another one here: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/34... a placeholder for the entire 22 volume series, I've combined it with the first volume.

Thank you. I already created a new one. *blushes* But next time when I come across something like this I'll know what I have to do. Thank you.

Since it has an ASIN, it was auto-imported. The simplest solution is to put NOT A BOOK as the author, b/c deleting it doesn't keep it from re-importing anew.
