Please delete this book! (pt. 11)

Could you please clarify (review) when a book should be deleted?
I have seen quite a few coming thru with just the comment "ISBN-less" or its equivalent.
I'm just concerned that books published without ISBNs and alternate editions (having the same ISBN as another book or edition) might get deleted.
Most books posted in this thread can only be deleted by a super. We are careful to look at the books before deleting. (I usually check logs as well; can't tell you if most do.)
We don't delete books with alternate covers or other data. (And if you read through this thread, you'll see some replies saying exactly that.)
The two I just deleted had little more than author and title, for instance.

Thanks, Rivka. Just wanted it clarified for everyone, especially since I do have a lot of alternate editions shelved.
Hopefully you've added Librarian's Notes to each, as well as a note in the description field. That should help keep anyone from deleting them in error.
Re 833 - This book is in a giveaway - we do not delete books while in a giveaway - even though it is a candidate. Once giveaway is finished it can be deleted
Ahh OK, does that mean applies to all editions? Because TBH I don't see what the harm would be to remove an ISBN-less one even if it's in a giveaway :/
Yes it applies to all editions - it is a better safe than sorry policy since deleting the edition may affect the giveaway - and having an ISBNless edition harms nothing
Re 841: Since it is a rescue book, I don't know if it should be deleted or not. I know we weren't deleting these at first.
It seemed to be one of those hard copy books with an ASIN which was missed by the ASIN deletion process.
I just came across this note made by a librarian on this editionhttp://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13...
I can't delete this book as it has more than 5 reviews, but there is an EXACT copy of this book, http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/11... . So could someone with the authority do that please?
I'm not sure what is going on here, and what should be done. The weird thing is the editions actually have identical ISBNs. BTW ISBN matches the paperback edition.
Here's more run of the mill books for deletion, mainly stories from anthologies that were never standalones:http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13...

That seems to have been a placeholder originally created before the book was published (and before the ISBN number was known):http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/85...

thanks!this one cannot be rescued:

this one, too:

The users who have shelved them may still be able to rescue them, and in some cases their authors.
Yes I see what you mean. But I wouldn't select those two above, if I'd see any chance for them. The only shelf is one to-read each and there is no information on the book , that might give any clue about what book it could be. Even to the author Henning Mankell, this should be difficult, as the IDs of the "unknown author" are different. (It should be him due to a search for his name)
Also, it looks like those books are by authors that have authored other books. If any one of the books is identified, that helps identify all of them.

The Unknown Authors with a certain number do NOT correspond to a single author. They were randomly assigned.

Hi!Can you please delete

I created these for fun and wanted to share on smashwords not count it as my professional work.
Thank you.
"Sharing on Smashwords" is publishing an ebook, at least for GR purposes.. We don't remove published works.
GR members have shelved and reviewed them. It would hardly be fair to them to delete their reviews.

I think someone has added this by mistake - as far as I can see the only correct title is "Death Comes to Pemberley":http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13...

That happened to me with an art book. It had the wrong ISBN printed right on the cover, and matched it on the inside. Have to confess it didn't occur to me that that could happen. Kinda naive of me.
I wondered why this one had a photo of toys instead of a cover. I removed the cover image, but on researching the isbn (since the title conformed to no Spy Vs. Spy book I was aware of -- they all have more elaborate titles), I found out it was not a book, but a set of plastic toys with a leaflet.http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/83...
Please delete http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/67... . It is a ISBN-less placeholder for this edition: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/98...

It's not actually a floor display. Ingram overwrote the original title of the book.
