by Helen Oyeyemi and The Sisters Brothers by Patrick DeWitt. (Will p-r-o-b-a-b-l-y go back to them). I am going to try Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs now in an attempt for a good read. My audio book 11/22/63 by Stephen King is going WONDERFULLY, thank goodness.
Our in person book club tends to read older books so that we can get enough through inter-library loan. I just went to pick up our current read and am really excited... The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks Its a rare read for us as we don't read non-fiction very often but I think this one will be good and will generate the discussion that we love!

I know, I can hardly wait. So glad that our book club gets good books (at least usually - we have had a few duds!)
Judy wrote: "I really enjoyed The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. I hope you ladies do, too!"I'm going to see if my branch has that when I go today :)
I brought these home from the library today, since it was only open until 1pm I thought that I should pop by with it not being open for a few days:
I read half of The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks in one day. That is a record for me for non-fiction. If it wasn't Christmas Eve I would probably have it finished by now.

Kimberly wrote: "Nice ones Autumn and Amber, you guys are making jealous! I haven't been to the library in 10 days...might have to go the day after tomorrow."I haven't been to the library in a long long time either. The last time I went they were having a book sale and I bought books instead of borrowing. I have so many books here at home and on my kindle I would never get anything read lol : )
I love the libray but I have so many NetGalley books and other books to review plus my free kindle ebooks to read so I hope I can squeeze in the library books enough this year.
I'm like Amber.. I read library books way before the ones I know.. I'm trying to sneak in books I've won from goodreads 2 down 6 to go then I have 3 bookcases and a kindle full of tbr.. I think if my library had color card system id have a black library card.. ( like the black amex)..
Kimberly wrote: "I love the libray but I have so many NetGalley books and other books to review plus my free kindle ebooks to read so I hope I can squeeze in the library books enough this year."I love to go to the library...I can spend hours and hours there. I hope I can find some of my TBR books there as a lot of them I don't own and would rather borrow instead of buying (when the time comes)...I am trying really hard to stash bust and refrain from buying anymore books until I clear out some of my shelves lol but the free kindle books are really hard to turn down : ) In fact, one of my personal goals that will also help on my 2012 goal is to read at least 30 books off of my "I own" shelf. We will see if I make it.
Kimberly wrote: "Good Luck! I hope to read at least 30 I own too."Good luck to you too....maybe if I see you doing it, you will enable me to do it too LOL Enable me Kimberly : )
Wow 30 I could not do.. good luck ladies last year I read 3 that I already owned..I did buy some after borrowing them from the library.. I wonder if that counts to read books I own.. haha
Autumn wrote: "Wow 30 I could not do.. good luck ladies last year I read 3 that I already owned..I did buy some after borrowing them from the library.. My problem is I search books and find more and more that I want to read and get sidetracked which isn't really hard to do with my lil pea brain LOLOLOL
Autumn wrote: "Wow 30 I could not do.. good luck ladies last year I read 3 that I already owned..I did buy some after borrowing them from the library.. I wonder if that counts to read books I own.. haha"Thanks I think I only read about 20 I owned last year I think :)

Autumn, you are quite lucky in winning so many books from goodreads. I have only ever won 2 and nothing for the past two years! That must be why I read so much from the library..lol
Oh yeah i was on a hot streak in September.. since then i havent won anything.. maybe cause i didnt review as fast as they wanted i have no idea but GR hates me now lol..
