yeah...both have same vampire bullshit but i like one thing about vampire diaries that atleast the girls reaction is genuine after knowing that the boy is vampire....not like twilight. watch and see...bella swan doesnt seem to fear vampire(fake) on the other hand in vampire diaries the actress starts running here and there to get away from him.

I can see where you would relate Twilight to Vampire Diaries but Vampire Diaries did come out WAY before Twilight(Vampire Diaries came out in 1991:wow)but the only real similarity between the two are a)they're vampires and b)two guys want the same girl. However, in VD the guys fighting for the lady's love are brothers and there are werewolves, hybrids, witches, and a lot more characters. Just because there is one very small and very insignificant similarity between the two books does not mean that Twilight is Vampire Diaries with different names or vice versa.
If I was doing a tv show, I would do what was making money too lol

In real life, people who suffer from depression are always getting told to "get over it" or "look on the bright side". Well, it's not that easy.

she could have gone to see a professional. to be honest i think if the story was how she got over edward and how she learnt to be dependent on her own would have been a much better story line because it would have been interesting and given a better message to young girls.

Well that's what was hard about it. She couldn't really say anything about it; if she shared what really happened to a professional then that would be a one way ticket to a psychiatric facility. (Her relationship with Edward had to do so much with his being a vampire, from the initial attraction to their physical relationship limits; so even if she decided to talk to someone she couldn't really get into the specifics.) After a few months she did try to move on with her life despite still being weighted with problems she couldn't share.
Hmmm, that might have been interesting, sort of, but I think it would have negated the love story that twilight established. It was meant to be and marketed as a love story. In my opinion, it doesn't make it less of a journey for Bella even though her desired future is only one that involves Edward.

exactly. The vampire diaries story line and characters do have some flaw but at least it works and captivates the reader/ watcher.

I have been watching Vampire Diaries and I actually like it more than Twilight. The VD were written years prior to Twilight, so if one coppies the other, it would be Twilight coppying VD. However, these series are diffrent, they are pretty similar. I think the VD have much more depth that Twilight did, thus I like Elena and Bonnie more than Bella. Though I do love Twilight, don't think I'm bashing it, because I am not. I am a huge Twilight, VD and Vampire Academy fan. :)

Yeah, they basically took the basics from the book and ran from there. I mean, the TV show doesn't follow the book at all, except for the first few episodes. The Originals, the Doppelganger and all that is totally from the show's writers.

It's reasonable that you don't like how it went, some people feel the same way. But that's how Meyer envisioned Bella's journey. Much like life, we can't control how it goes, certain undesirable circumstances may arise (maybe one after the other). People feel how they feel, and they cope with it in their own way. Yes Bella moped, but she got the strength to try to move on, start talking to her friends again, reach out a little bit, write letters to Alice... you can't really say she didn't give any effort to forwarding her life after that rough patch.

I like the originals. Klaus...not sure if I love him or hate him. Elijah, Damon and Ric are the best though. They really make the series fun.There are no characters that you can actually connect with in Twilight. Well, except Leah. The rest are just idiots.
At least the VD characters are smart. I'm hoping we get a Vampire Academy series/movie soon. :)

My opinion: The Vampire Diaries might have simmilarities with Twi but, TVD is way better. It has a good plot, a strong female main character (Elena) and strong friends (Caroline & Bonnie) The love triangle, wasn't even a love triangle cause Elena hated Damon at the beginning, then became friends, then she hated him again for killing her brother, and then became friends again then she fell IN love with Damon and OUT of love with Stefan. Bella just fell head over heels in love with Edward the second she saw him and desperately wanted to become a vampire. Elena NEVER wanted that but she died so they didn't have much of a choice. Then, the story line of the vampire Diaries is way better. Way more exiting and Different. So no I don't think Tvd copied Twilight, Sure Twi might have helped with the succes of TVD but the fact that it remaind succesfull was all because of the show itself and not cause of Twilight.

I remember all the preteens at my Primary (Elementary) School reading the Vampire Diaries during the 90s. How can TVD copy Twilight if it was released a decade before?
In any case, I can at least watch the soapy teen drama of TVD with a bit of interest. The Twilight movie on the other hand was laughably bad imo.

i know i did the same thing but i got both seasons on box set so i re watched them all and really enjoyed it . i'm glad that the directors had the guts the kill some of the characters off cause sometimes no one dies in series and it gets to predictable.
