Most Popular 50 books on GoodReads of All Time in the World

I have read 38 of them and have another 7 on my TBR list, one of which I am currently reading. Of the other 5, I haven't yet decided whether I want to read them or not.

Nor do I have any interest in the Twilight series. But I think thats my own snobbery about how popular and insane the craze has become. I've thought about it cause a lot of my friends have read it...so we'll see.
"The Curious Incident of the Dog at Nighttime", "The Time Traveler's Wife", and "The Poisonwood Bible" I have bought and am going to be reading them in the near future. The rest I am interested in and will probably get to it eventually.
I am not finished with it yet, but I am currently reading "Olive Kitteridge" and so far I love it and am surprised it's not on the list.

Some I'm not really that interested in.. (although maybe I should reconsider since they're so popular)

some of the ones I haven't read are in my to be read shelf and like other people some i have no interest in whatsoever...ESPECIALLY Lord of the Flies- William Golding

How many of the above list have you read?
Which ones have you been wanting to read but just haven't? How many are there? None of the others is on my TBR list yet, though there are several that feel like "should"s to me.
Which book do you think don't deserve this popularity? Clearly, the list is slanted to relatively recent books. Don Quixote isn't here but The Lovely Bones is??? And, in spite of their overwhelming popularity, I found the HP books not to be worth the time to read. I read the first, and settled for the movies after that. I'm glad they're there, because they encourage so many kids who would otherwise be reluctant readers. But just not worth the time for me.
What book have you read, really liked, and you would expect it to be on the list but isn't?
The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K Le Guinshould be, but I can't say I expected it.

Which ones have you been wanting to read but just haven't? The Glass Castle. Of the 6 I haven't read, I started 2 of them and didn't like them. The other 3 just don't interest me.
Which book do you think don't deserve this popularity? One Hundred Years - ugh. I abandoned it.
What book have you read, really liked, and you would expect it to be on the list but isn't? The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian

I am at 21 now. I have not looked at the thread in a while so it was nice to come back and see that I (however unintentionally) read a few more.
I have now read one of the Harry Potter books!

I find the fact that there are 2 David Sedaris books on this list startling as I tried to read one of his and just didn't connect with it.
I expected to see way more classics on this list rather than mostly recent releases. I wonder if this is because most people just review what they have just finished and aren't going back to review all of the books they've read.

There really isnt anything on here that I would want to read that I havent already.
The Twilight series doesnt belong. Not that I didnt enjoy it but I wouldn't put it in my top 500 let alone 50.
The Stand is one of my all time favorite books along with Great Expectations.

It's good to see a lot of classics on there, though it's hard to find anyone around who actually enjoys reading them. The goodreads classics group that I'm in is practically dead. I tried to find other classics groups that had more active discussions, but it turns out my group is the most active of all the others. Shame. ):

Updating a few of my answers. I'd read 28 when I first posted in May. Just discovered (October) that I've added 3 more since then.
And in May, I said that none of the others was on my TBR list. But now that I've read The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, I'll definitely read his A Thousand Splendid Suns

Good tip, Shelli. Thanks!

Surprised at some of these.
I haven't read any of the Harry Potter or Twilight books, so those are out.
Read To Kill a Mockingbird but it was so long ago I forgot everything about it. I seriously need to read up on some more classics!
I've read of Mice and Men and that's it. Many of those listed are on my to-be-read list.

How do you know? Is there a list or something?
There was, Danna. I got that list in 2008 so it's been a few years and GR has gone through a number of changes. I'm not sure if I can find where I got that list from and if I can, I'm sure it would've changed significantly. :)
