I'm working my way through Brian Keene's debut, The Rising.
Less than four hours left, so I should be able to finish it up during this week's commute. Then it'll be onto its sequel!
I've started and stopped
several times this week. It is just soooo slow but the narrator is Matt Godfrey and he's awesome. I just hope the story picks up soon.
Do vintage/retro horror audio dramas count as a form of "short story?" Or are they in their own category? Because I've been listening to a lot of those, lately. It's been fun!
Just wrapped up The Wife. It's narrated narrated by Xe Sands...who has tons of rave reviews. I noticed in several places she seemed to trail off at the ends of sentences making it hard to listen to at a consistent volume. I'd turn it up to be able to hear and then the next paragraph would be so loud! Anyone else notice this with her? I even wondered if it was the recording (instead of her actual intonation). All of that aside--it was a suspenseful, fast story and worth the listen.

I really liked it! I finished it up last night and have to admit that the ending surprised me. Now I'm starting
Swift to Chase by Laird BarronGreat stories, but the narration is awful and lacks enthusiasm, plus it’s littered with mispronunciations (my favorite was “manevolent”).
I looked on Audible to see reviews on this guy and saw that the version I have has been taken down and replaced with a new recording by a different narrator.
Almost finished with Blade Runner originally named Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick. Definitely not a new book but I haven't read it. I am really enjoying it.
Latasha wrote: "Is it very different from the show? The strain?"I haven't seen the show so am not sure. It reads like a movie a little bit though. All action, little character time.

I also have gilchrist but I haven't listened to it yet.

I should be starting this one sometime this week."I hope you enjoy it. It's slow burning but it got to me. :)

I read this book way back in the early 2000's, and I really loved it. And the whole series is one I've been wanting to listen to on audio ever since I found out Rene Auberjonois does the narrating. so now i am FINALLY getting around to listening to it!
I normally either listen to the audio or read the book, i dont usually do both to the same book. and i've got to admit..... it is really odd listening to a series after you've read about 16 of the books. the voices are just..... sooooooooo different from what i've had in my head all these years. :O
Latasha wrote: "I have the Jonestown book. Is it good? I got it in a sale a while back."I just started it, but yes, so far so good. :)
I listened to Rebecca as a reread last year, I think, and I very much enjoyed it!
I started Kill Creek and I think I'm going to love it. it always brings a smile to my face when I read or listen to a book wrote by a fellow horror fan. this guy clearly loves it all just like us.

I think you're right about the author too. It's amazing to me that this was his first novel.
Philip wrote: "The Desert Spear by Peter V. Brett"Loved the first book but never found the time to continue on.
Just started The Girl in the Spider's Web. I usually avoid these series that are continued by someone other than the original creator but I've seen some decent reviews and it was available at the library so figured I would give it a shot. About halfway through and it has been ok....not great.
