Peter | 6 comments Thanks for the welcomes everyone :) Really glad you're enjoying the site!

My wife works at a library - I'm going to mention this to her and see if they can't do something similar.

On a side note, we also have a book review blog that a few of our members contribute to. We link it up with Amazon and any money that it makes goes to our Foundation, which in turn lends that money through Kiva. http://thebookclub.travellerspoint.com

If any of you are interested, I'd be happy to open it up for you to post reviews there.

Hi Peter and welcome! Speaking for myself (though I'm sure many will agree), I thank you for creating the site! Just being able to actually "see" the journey has added an all new layer of excitement.

BTW, Australia is my first stop!

Marieke | 209 comments hi peter! we are all totally drooly over your site. i haven't played around too much yet, but i definitely want to link blog posts to my maps...not sure if that is the same blogging feature you are talking about. but since i'm still wrapping up my 2011 readings, i won't be doing much with my maps, etc. until January 1, 2012. eek...that's just a few days away!!!

Peter | 6 comments Marieke wrote: "i definitely want to link blog posts to my maps...not sure if that is the same blogging feature you are talking about."

It uses the same blogging platform. You can certainly start your own one and it will link up with your map, providing the dates of your entry match up to the dates on your map. You could also just add notes to each stop if there's not a huge amount of text.

The Book Club blog is a collaborative blog just featuring book reviews.

Mikki wrote: "BTW, Australia is my first stop!"

Excellent! I see you picked a David Malouf book. I love his books :)

Yeah, Pragya was close ... It means something like - am not going to worry how life is going to turn out, am just going with the flow... The actor in the song is a very famous and an old Hindi actor who just passed away. (Here's a link to that song itself)
Here's a link I found online for the translation and it comes close.

Sigh. To think of all the things Meyer ruined for us... While reading Cassandra Clare, I was struggling to not compare it with the Twilight series, and that might be why I decided to not go ahead with either Mortal Instruments or Infernal Devices...

Hi Peter, sorry if we're squatting but your site is much better than the Google Trips function.I have started a blog on your site aswell and posted my first review!

Jenny (Reading Envy) (readingenvy) | 1309 comments Peter, I'd be happy to cross post my reviews to your site as well. You might want to check out the Tumblr I've put together, which will have the blogs from our group members as well as some related websites, pictures, and so on. I actually posted about your site yesterday.

message 109: by Chel (new)

Chel | 187 comments I started mine. I am doing as I go so the entry now is just Italy. I'm doing the "drunken sailor" method.
My link is at:

If you like, you can send me a private message on Travellerspoint - this is my profile: http://www.travellerspoint.com/member... and I can then set you up with access to the book review blog.

The Tumblr blog looks great! It's great for bringing together things like this.

message 111: by Emy (new)

Emy (emy0lee) Thanks for the links! I was thinking of trying to find a map that I could update as I go for both this and other challenges I want to do (US states, European capitals, etc)

It did that to me yesterday for a while and then it made the change I wanted without my realizing it at first.

Mikki Peter wrote: "Excellent! I see you picked a David Malouf book. I love his books :) ..."

This will be my first time reading him so I'll let you know what I think. At a closeout sale a few ago, I also picked up a book of his short stories, [Book: Every Move You Make]. Peter, perhaps you might give recommendation for other Australian authors that you like. There is an Australia folder under recommendations I believe.

Hm. I'll try again tomorrow...I set up my blog but don't want to write a first entry until I have my map working. I decided to start with France after all, with the Count of Monte Cristo. But my map doesn't reflect that (yet).

Now there is an Australia folder under recommendations. I started it for you, Peter, so that the folder would be visible.

Marieke, I found that the map will not reflect stops until you have at least a leg. Choose a second country and then it will show up. I was having the same problem.

message 120: by Marieke (new)

Marieke | 209 comments Well, I had four. I wanted to delete one, add two, and change the order. So far I've only been successful at deleting one stop. :(

message 121: by Peter (new)

Peter | 6 comments I'll have our developer look at the saving issues tomorrow. He gets error notifications when things go wrong, so hopefully he has some insight!

I'll add some Australian authors. Plenty to choose from :)

Thanks, Peter! It was only with the map...I had no problems tinkering with my profile and blog template. Also...I have a MacBook. No idea if that is part of the problem. :S

Beth (eparks4232) | 311 comments Where do you add friends? I can't find button...

AH. Found it. For anyone looking, go to someone's map, click on the person's name until you get to profile and then you can add them.

message 129: by Marieke (new)

Marieke | 209 comments Peter--it seems to be working now. part of the problem was apparently my fault: i forgot to press the "finish" button when i added a trip yesterday. the other problem may have been my version of firefox, which has now been updated. :D

for anyone who wants to friend me, here is the link to my map for this challenge (my user name is armchairista): http://www.travellerspoint.com/member...

i also made a map for my personal capital cities tour which may overlap with 52 a little bit. i made a complete map for Capital Cities, but i have to change it so i think i will delete almost everything and build it as i go. it's fun to see the maps grow! :D

Trinidad Giachino http://www.travellerspoint.com/member...

Here's mine. It does look a little bit like my 5 year old niece designed it...

message 131: by Mikki (new)

Mikki Thanks Beth!

message 132: by Beth (new)

Beth (eparks4232) | 311 comments Ack, Trinidad, I think you need to save it before we can get to your profile... Meanwhile, since I'm reading my Trinidad book, it was funny to see an email pop up saying "comment from Trinidad"!

message 133: by Trinidad (new)

Trinidad Giachino Ouch! I'll have to make again, rats! Nice synchronicity, Carl Jung would be so proud of you! I haven't heard of it, can you post a link to the book?.
Thanks!

message 134: by Beth (new)

Beth (eparks4232) | 311 comments Trinidad, the book is sadly not about Trinidad, but about Africa, but the author is V.S. Naipaul and he's from Trinidad, so I am counting it as from there (and doing some other stuff to substitute for not getting much Trinidadian experience from the book (reading about Trinidad, listening to Trini radio!). The book is A Bend in the River.

message 135: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Lavoie | 23 comments This is a neat idea and I think I'm going to do this. I also had the idea of maybe doing a scrapbook with a page for each book. It just hit me. Might be fun! And I got a scrapbook for Christmas that I have no idea what to do with. It's just not really travel-y...
