Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Good, cuz I'd hate to have to check.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Ummm I think we could let Phil do that himself!

That's easy for you to say! You want to try and find anything in this cloak.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Well how about you take the cloak off for checking purp[oses.

Oh no you don't, I've been caught like that before!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments What - you think someone might actually see you? And maybe talk to you. Or even, horror of horrors, buy your book?

It seems unlikely, I agree GL, but it does happen. I think people should be warned.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Wait just a minute.

Phil has a book???

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Two actually!

message 463: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments No way!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments And I think he's writing another. I wonder if they are any good.

message 465: by Philip (new)

Philip Whiteland | 3396 comments Doubt it ;-)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Nah - if they were I would have reviewed them.

message 467: by Jay-me (Janet) (new)

Jay-me (Janet) | 3784 comments Perhaps they are invisible? Otherwise someone might have seen them before now. Or perhaps they are mythological. Like kingfishers.

Kingfishers? You mean Kate, do you?

Who?

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Oh now I am confused...

You see this is where trying to be clever gets me. Think Middleton.

I was thinking more of Pippa's sister ;-)

message 474: by Philip (new)

Philip Whiteland | 3396 comments Now I see where I've been going wrong! I could have sworn (well, I often do) that I took this off, but I've obviously been wearing it all the time ;-)

message 475: by Andrew (new)

Andrew Lawston (andrewlawston) | 1774 comments I had a week in late August where I must have taken my invisibility cloak off due to the nice weather, otherwise I certainly seem to have been wearing it for about six months now :)

It's tempting to say "who said that", but I won't. Glad you had at least a week in the sun, Andrew ;-)

message 477: by Andrew (new)

Andrew Lawston (andrewlawston) | 1774 comments Hehe - I wouldn't have held it against you ;)

I think I'm mostly suffering from only having one book out there. Those that have read it are over it, even if they enjoyed it, and those that haven't bought it already are unlikely to suddenly change their minds after six months.

I'm sure if I released a new book, I'd be thoroughly visible for a good eight hours ;)

From experience, it does help to have more than one book, if only because it gives you something else to obsess over on the Amazon Sales information and another page to visit in the forlorn hope that someone might have left a heartening review (you can tell the sort of mood I'm in I guess)

message 479: by Andrew (new)

Andrew Lawston (andrewlawston) | 1774 comments I'm getting the impression you're in a very similar mood to my own!

Especially as I'm currently facing some challenging barriers to getting a second book out of the door...

I got my third book out of the door recently. Unfortunately, I hadn't spotted the 30,000 ft. drop on the other side ;-)

message 481: by Andrew (new)

Andrew Lawston (andrewlawston) | 1774 comments Ouch!

I'm assuming my Casanova translation will reach a decent audience on the strength of the original author's name, rather than my own. I doubt my name will even be on the cover :)

Good luck with it, Andrew.

Geoff (G. Robbins) (merda constat variat altitudo) (snibborg) | 8204 comments I caught this thread out of the corner of my eye, again. It's like the Flying Dutchman of threads.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Yeah, and the posts seem to shimmer and fade when you try to read them...

It's more like the Mary Celeste, more often than not there's only me here, and I'm not even sure about that.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I reckon you need to be more upfront and assertive... wait, who am I talking to? I'm sure there was someone there a moment ago...

I rang up about an assertiveness course once, but the line was engaged and I didn't want to bother them.

No I'm here a lot of the time. I have my hibernation quarters set out in here. I'll probably stop here for the duration.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments If you turn out all the odd corners here, there might be quite a crowd. But they'll all be people who hate crowds...

Nicola Palmer | 255 comments Exactly right, Gingerlily. I hate crowds. I hang around in this invisibility thread quite often.

My mum used to say that I should be seen and not heard. But not seen or heard? That might make me weird ...

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Told Dave about this thread last night.

He reckons I need a 'not backward in coming forward' thread.

No idea what he meant by that. :)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I do heheheheheheh!
