Lorraine the pretty flower ♥ wrote: "afternoon everyone ! Glad the book is doing well Gingerlily and Alison !"Hi Lorraine
Good to see you. Your Hi Bye message on the Morning thread had me worried that you were having a bad day. Glad to be wrong on that ;-)
Exhausting! Working hard all day, then out at 10 to 7 for that meeting and got back a few minutes ago. Now off to bed. Hope I can enjoy it a bit more tomorrow. How about you?
You poor thing! Not much time to celebrate then ;-(It's been a while since I had a new work published, so I'm afraid I was distracted from my work all day. I'll work doubly hard tomorrow to make up ;-)
Anyway, you're tired so I won't rattle on. Well done and congratulations again on becoming a published writer. Now, have a good night's sleep - sounds like you've earned it.
Night ;-)
Morning. I see we did quite well yesterday. Now what we need is a few reviews saying how wonderfully wonderful we are. Or at least that its not a total sad loss....
Morning GL.Reviews posted on .com too will really help to get it noticed. And if you're promoting in the forums on .com I would suggest you don't post anywhere outside of the 'Meet our author' forums. It's really not worth it. The problem with that is that the threads don't stay current for more than a minute. The thing to do there is to get your pitch onto plenty of threads so that it's always there somewhere when anyone looks. Then update them every few days or so. But don't overdo it. If you have a post on page 1 in a thread, I would suggest you don't post again until it drops off. You can get banned for over pitching too.
Best of luck and I hope the reviews are great! :o)
Thanks Steve. I must confess I haven't yet managed to get up the nerve to post on .com, having seen the carnage that can result. Suppose it has to be done though....
Morning GL, morning SteveLast night I put promo posts up two .com threads and mentioned the book when chatting on another but, don't worry Steve, I've stayed in the MOA forum - don't want any hassle 8-)
Oh great stuff Alison! You're on the ball there. I would have done more if I didn't have that meeting last night. Good meeting but the timing was terrible...
I hope so, will try and get a nap after work - that is if I don't have more badly timed phone calls from family members...

Hi Alison, I actually prefer .com nowadays. because authors have their own place there, its a bit of a safe-haven. I keep looking at UK but as soon as I do, I see all that negativity and walk away. It's such a shame. I never thought I'd say it but I wish UK had an authors sections like .com, but I wish they would give us more categories like the readers have. With just one it's all a bit pointless. But it can help early on - then if you're lucky you get reviews and rise in the charts and get to a point where the whole thing self perpetuates without too much input on Amazon. Getting exposure outside of Amazon is the best thing. If someone contacts cheapdailyreads they will probably feature you. Jackie Lubens got a spot with them and I've got one coming up on Thursday in the UK and a couple of days later in the US.
Er hum... It's 'Steve' lol, not Simon - he's that nice moderator chap. :o)No, they do it for free and just ask in return that you tell people about them. I'll be tweeting about them Thursday - probably tomorrow too as a warm up. :o)
Just visit the site and hit the contact button. Then tell them about you and your book. I got a reply a few days later. Tell them how well it's doing in the UK charts, too. That won't hurt your chances of getting a feature at all.
I've just been rather upset at hearing from Cornelius that he has been banned from .com for posting outside the Meet our Authors forum - and he hasn't. Hasn't posted there for ages. The upshot is that they have removed his posts from .co.uk too. I understand this happened to a few authors a couple of months ago but they got re-instated - sorry to barge in on your thread girls but I'm annoyed as hell! Take care over there.
