OMG! May husband is the worst about aging and the thing is that he doesn't look his age. He still has hair, his abs are still nice and tight and all his parts are working. So what's the problem?

message 102: by Brunhilde (new)

Brunhilde I think for me it is the lost hopefulness of youth--everything ahead of you. But with middle-age and beyond --everything starts shifting to behind you. It is not so much my physical behind shifting as much as the metaphysical shifts. Regrets, failures, etc.
And now I opened the door to all those thoughts. Quick, I must close it and do some yoga and get my mind in the right place.

message 103: by Annette (new)

Annette The only thing I regret now is that I let myself wallow in the nonsense for as long as I did. Like I don't regret the crap I went through before I met my husband. If I wouldn't have spent time with all those jerks I date then I would never have been ready for the mature love that he was ready to give me.

message 104: by Leea (new)

Leea LMAO!! My lips are sealed... well... Oh, if you want me to share, then you better spill it sister!

Amen, Annette!! I was lucky enough to have known my husband since I was 16, we were friends and didn't start dating till I was 21.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I don't know what tips I'm supposed to be sharing now!

message 106: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Sep 21, 2012 12:54PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Have you and your husband had a chance to talk about fantasies and any special kinks? My husband and I are just now getting to the point where we're starting to unload all of this on each other. We're both natural submissives (sexually at least, not in real life necessarily), haha, so it's a real surprise that he's been taking the initiative to be more dominant in the bedroom because he knows I like it. But this also means that there are times when I have to sort of vamp it up and get aggressive with him because I know it's a huge turn on for him, even though it's not my particular preference.

I had said this before, but reading a lot of different types of erotica really started to awaken some things in me...things I wasn't necessarily aware of. I find myself really turned on by books where the woman gets manhandled and the sex gets a little forceful, but I know that some people would hate giving up that type of control!

One sec, let me see if I can find the sex type quiz...

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) And I'm not finding it. Will keep looking. I think it's interesting to find out what your sexual type is. I consider myself a submissive, but the quiz has me as more of a switch because I didn't like some of the extreme humiliation questions that they included with being a submissive.

message 108: by Leea (new)

Leea I think Stacia has so many good points :) I need this quiz because I have no clue what I am. I do like to man handled a lot.

I also think it's important to trust each other and know that if something is not enjoyed by both of you then it's not going to really work. Sounds like you had that kind of relationship. I think first you need to understand what turns you on? Then try new stuff, a new outfit or maybe a sex toy. Sometimes just sex in the afternoon or in a different room in the house. Plus you can't take yourself too seriously, if you're laughing it can't be all that bad, right?

I know for me when we had two kids under the age of 2, nursing, pooping, nursing again, I just didn't feel sexy at all. Once they got older and were not waking up at night I felt like my relationship with my husband got better and I was enjoying sex more.

I hope this help and if now just ask us what you're wondering :)

message 109: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I have always been very intuned to this side of me and my relationships have always been, well satisfying, so I may be off base in recommending this but I have several in real life friends that I recommended this series to and they claim it was marriage altering material with respect to what you are talking about -- the Black Dagger Brotherhoode by JR Ward. Have you read that series?

Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Ward is the first one.

I think it is really common for women to have to spend more time getting in to things. It is just how we are built, it isn't you. Also, many times you don't have to say anything out loud - you can highlight passages and have your partner read them.

message 110: by Annette (new)

Annette Fantasies don't have to be so different from what would normally happen in your bedroom. It could be something simple but just unexpected. Like whenever I am alone at home with my husband I wish he would join me unexpectedly in the shower. Or maybe fantasising that he's more verbal during sex, not necessarily dirty if that's not your speed. It's just a sexual wish list.

I just ordered it from the library. I am usually not into vampires but we will try it. I was into time travel either but I loved Outlander.

message 112: by Brunhilde (new)

Brunhilde I would love to read some Kristen Ashley books but they are apparently only on kindles. Does anyone know if she has plans to publish them in print?

message 113: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Annette -- agreed.

Brunhilde, this is a different take on vampires. They are not evil/monsters -- but a different race than humans and they have to feed off the opposite sex to survey. So a male vamp feeds off of his wife (mate) and vice versa. It is a really sexy series. The first one is kinda cheesy, but starting with 2 they are very good and 1 is still enjoyable.

Leea Brunhilde wrote: "I would love to read some Kristen Ashley books but they are apparently only on kindles. Does anyone know if she has plans to publish them in print?"

You can buy Kristen Ashley books from BN.com or Smashwords.com and then side load it to your Nook (Plug in the USB port and load it that way). I was going to reccomend KA's books because they're heavy on the steam with men taking some control in the bedroom or bing a little more Alpha there.

You will love Dark Lover and the rest of the series, it's one of my favorites.

I have to say, when you were talking about the Grocery list running through your head that I totally understood what you meant. I have a hard time shutting down "mom Leea" to be "Sexy Wife Leea" but you will get there and sometimes I latterly talk to myself and say "Stop that" and focus on a simple touch or kiss. That helps for me. You're not alone and believe me, this group is wonderful at being honest and not judging you at all.

I don't have a kindle or a nook. My library will let you borrow a nook, but they don't have those books available. I am hoping in time they will come out in print. They sound great. I have been reading the quotes on Kristen Ashley's page. And the quotes alone are just amazing!

message 116: by Annette (new)

Annette I tried reading Motorcycle Man. Dude was too much of a knuckle dragger for me. So I shelved it.

message 117: by Leea (new)

Leea Oh got it! You need an ereader Brunhilde. Don't worry Annette, she's not for everyone :)

message 118: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Definitely need an ereader!

message 119: by Annette (new)

Annette Ereaders are wonderful

message 120: by Leea (new)

Leea I bought mine almost two years ago and haven't looked back. I absolutely love it! Plus they've come down in price and you get much more for your money.

Is everyone having a good weekend?

I'm in the worst mood and cannot get out of this funk today.

message 121: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments I'm having a good weekend with the exception of having to study for my test on Monday. I'm very nervous!

I hope things lift up soon for you! Have some coffee or wine ;) Coffee always lifts my spirits!

message 122: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Sorry to hear that Leea. :(

message 123: by Leea (new)

Leea Thanks ladies, I just had a cup of coffee and am going for my second :) I think i'm just really tired and I normally don't feel like I could sleep all day. I actually feel asleep reading while my husband had the boys at the park. That never happens to me!

Courtney, what test? I know you'll do great, just get in the zone :)

message 124: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Leea - Well, you needed that rest! And I hope that coffee gets you going. It's delicious, isn't it? xD

And my test is on Pharmacology, or the study of drugs on a patient. It's a lot of stuff to remember and analyze. And thank you! It's hard for me to get into the zone these days.

message 125: by Annette (new)

Annette Just keep your eye on the prize.

message 126: by Leea (new)

Leea Psycho pharmacology was one of my favorite classes in college along with SPSS, that was one that caught me by surprise.

You are going to do great! Make sure to just relax and do the best you can :)

message 127: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Leea - What did you study in college again? That sounds pretty interesting!

And thank you! That's all I can do - do my best!

message 128: by Leea (last edited Sep 22, 2012 10:16PM) (new)

Leea Psychology... I still want to go back to school for my masters.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Sorry to hear you were in a funk. I hate when those days happen. Hopefully tomorrow is a better day.

We're going to go take a drive and look at the fall leaves tomorrow.

message 130: by Leea (new)

Leea Oh, I love those days. Have a great drive and drink a pumpkin spice Latte for me :). It's like 90 here today, we don't have any fall leaves yet. haha! You remember how that is, Stacia.

I can't wait for fall to make soups and take the kids to the pumpkin patch.

message 131: by Annette (new)

Annette I love soup so I make it every Sunday for our lunch.

message 132: by Leea (last edited Sep 23, 2012 01:06PM) (new)

Leea Mmm, that's a great idea. I'll have to do that next weekend for the boys.

Annette, What's your favorite soup recipe?

message 133: by Annette (new)

Annette Leea wrote: "Mmm, that's a great idea. I'll have to do that next weekend for the boys.

I'm not much of a cook but my kids love chicken w/rice soup. In olive oil I saute garlic, diced onions, celery and carrot until tender. Then I add leftover chicken to the saute. Salt, pepper and Mccomicks all purpose seasoning. Add 2 container of Rachel Ray's Chicken stock and simmer for 90 minute and about a 1/3 cup of uncooked rice during the last 20 minutes. Soup's on!

message 134: by Brunhilde (new)

Brunhilde Wow, I missed a big chatty weekend.
Leea, I am sorry about the funk.
Soup, love soup! Had a huge soup phase. Made a different soup every week for like two years.
Yes, I do really need an eReader. I am torn between getting that or Claire's ring for Christmas.
I had to work all weekend.

message 135: by Leea (new)

Leea Oh, post a picture of the ring you want. I love all the outlander jewelry, so beautiful.

Funk is gone - thanks ladies! Now it's just a crazy week ahead and we're going to a concert, haven't been to one in a long time. Very excited!

message 136: by Annette (new)

Annette Who are you going to see?

message 137: by Brunhilde (new)

Brunhilde http://www.theauthorsattic.com/gabald...

I am not that computer savy. The best I can do is a link and I am not even sure if I did that right. :)

what concert? the last concert was to was Bob Dylan in 1996. it was great

message 138: by Leea (new)

Leea I love her ring. I also love Brianna's bracelet so much. Link worked :)

We're going to see Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan (country music) in an outside venue past Sacramento. I'm so excited to get a beer and hang out with my husband :)

message 139: by Annette (new)

Annette Don't know much about country music, but have a good time. I love being able to go out alone with my husband.

message 140: by Leea (new)

Leea Happy Friday Ladies!! Anyone have plans for the weekend?

message 141: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Lex's having a weekend long slumber party! Here's to hoping they can get along for two nights!

message 142: by Leea (new)

Leea At your house? or is she going to be gone all weekend?

I have to work all weekend but i'm going to stay the night at my BIL's house and his girlfriend and I plan on going out for drinks after i'm done with work.

I also got the news today that my other BIL, proposed to his girlfriend while on vacation in Hawaii and i'm so happy. I love her and cannot wait for her to join our family. It's great news!

message 143: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) At our house. We'll have her friend Shelby here until Sunday.

message 144: by Leea (new)

Leea Oh, I hope it goes well and that Shelby does not get home sick. Is this the first sleep over? My boys keep wanting to do one at our neighbors. What are the girls plans? Movies?

I want to have a sleep over but with lots of wine :)

message 145: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Nah, Lex's had lots of sleepovers. Almost every weekend Shelby asks her dad if she can come stay with Lex.

What does usually end up happening is that about midway through the last day Lex gets really really cranky and tired of having someone else here. She's an only child, and normally she's really great and kind but she has her breaking point where she'll sneak and ask me when 'they're' going home, lol.

message 146: by Leea (new)

Leea Sounds like a lot of fun. Hope the girls have a blast.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Fun for the kids. I feel for Wendy though.

The little one is gone til Sunday, so we'll be going out and doing something tomorrow. Not sure what.

message 148: by Leea (last edited Sep 29, 2012 09:03AM) (new)

Leea Have fun Stacia. Hope you get to have some quality time with your husband.

Wendy, hope the girls didn't keep you up last night. I remember when I was a teenager and we used to laugh and chat into the night. Kept my mom up.

message 149: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) LOL, they actually fell asleep by 11:30, but those little suckers were up at 7:30 this morning. LOL, we went to the orchard today though, lots of fun.

message 150: by Leea (new)

Leea It's funny how kids can go to be at 11pm and get up at 6am... ugh! Looks like the girls are having a blast, making memories.

We went to this family style locally owned restaurant that in the worst part of town (they have an armed security guard in the parking lot watching your car - yikes). We had the best time and the boys loved it! We love making memories.

My oldest is our of school for the next two weeks, normally it would drive me nuts but right now i'm excited to just sleep in. Plus were taking them to Disneyland.
