I just went on amazon and looked for tags, but I can't find them. I've scrolled to the bottom of the page (my book page) several times and I think I've looked at everything, but, darn it, I just can't spot them or how to add them. Help!

John Matson | 5 comments I just added my first book, a memoir, to Amazon. Any feedback and/or reviews would be much appreciated.

It is called Rainbow Colored Eyes (http://www.amazon.com/Rainbow-Colored...#) It's the story of finding out who you really spiritually and how you create the world/reality you want. The character believes there is much more to people that the goals society sets for us so quits university to find it. Part one of the story is a trip from Boston to San Francisco, and then on to Central America and South America as the character discovers what the world is all about on his journey through beauty, civil war, jungles, and mountains.

Thanks so much,
John

Tom Evans (tomevans) | 6 comments Life on Mars ! for Seventies kids
Tom, a forty-year-old man lies dying in a forest but as he takes his final breath, gets re-born in the 1970's as an eight-year-old boy, who is given the chance to re-live his life.

This true and controversial account of a young boy’s journey through his formative years transports you back to a time when playing outside in the South Wales Valley had few rules or restriction and was an education in its own right.

When kids could play outside is written about an era full of fun, freedom, pranks, competitiveness, danger and discovery.

This is a must read for anyone who was lucky enough to have grown up in the 1970's and discovered who you were without the help of today’s technology.

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) Mirta wrote: "How do I tag my book here on goodreads?"

To "tag" books on goodreads, you put them on a shelf.
Probably a good idea for most authors here to at least shelve their books as "memoir".

For example, if you look at Carol Burnett's This Time Together: Laughter and Reflection on the righthand side there's a "genre section" listing it in memoirs, autobiography, etc.—some book pages display genre and some just op shelves ( depends on the shelf names). That all comes from how members shelve.

If a reader clicks "explore" from the top goodreads menu bar and explores memoir genre for their next read that's at http://www.goodreads.com/genres/memoir — and those big book displays are not paid ads. They all come from members shelving and not from paid placement.

The genre, recommendations and explore features sort by popularity so without a lot of ratings/shelving/reviewing of your books, not going to be on the top pages. But it's a start.

And some goodreads group's use the genre and shelves to nominate their next book discussion, buddy reads, penpal reads and a variety of games/challenges.

Even if not well placed in all the good spots on goodreads, helps browsing readers who do find your book page know that it's "memoir" or "humor" type of book. As much as you want readers nd reviews, you don't want someone not into memoirs reading by mistake and rating badly because ...

Patti Graham | 5 comments "Mission Reports" was written to preserve the endearing memories of the life and World War II military service of my father-in-law, the late Edward Graham.

History buffs will delight in my book regarding World War II and the campaigns of both Operation Torch (North Africa) and Operation Husky (Italy). If you are looking for the details of everyday life in the military during World War II, this is the book for you.

This book is a memoir but also includes a wide variety of 1940's history. Included is everything from a Dept. of Defense Report to a Donut Recipe from the Red Cross during World War II.

June Collins (junecollins) | 114 comments Hi fellow memoirists, Thought I'd just report the results of my latest 2 day Amazon ebook giveaway. I had a total of 9026 downloads. Now I have to qualify this. I spent some money; $45 for Free Booksy, and $70 for 2 days on a thing called Twitterblitz and $45 on one I've forgotten. i.e. $160. So for it to be worth while, I need to sell 200 books in the coming weeks. It was worth a try and I'll keep you posted.

I have written two memoirs which I'd like to have added to the group bookshelf.
A Book of Kells: Growing Up in an Ego Void. This is the story of a 20th century Canadian family (named Kell.) It's woven around my parents' courtship-to-honeymoon years and my growing-up as a minister's daughter.
Kathleen's Cariole Ride. My mother answered an unusual call of love in the wilderness for desperate and lofty reasons.
