Letters From A Bipolar Mother

In "Letters From A Bipolar Mother", Alyssa Reyans tells the story she's never been able to tell her children: of how she lost them in a battle with her own mental illness. she shares with them - and the world - what the mind of a woman suffering bipolar depression looks like, how the darkness she battled on a daily basis almost won, and how, years later, she found the courage to claw her way out of the abyss.
Covering a span of five years, Alyssa Reyans shares both her pain and strength in a struggle against an incurable illness that many women today also share.

Both of your books sound just up my alley! My list of books to read is getting longer and longer. Oh, I can't wait to get a Kindle. I love meeting so many strong and admirable women. Look forward to getting to know you some more.
Leila

I checked out your book on Amazon and I am impressed--very good writing from an insightful point of view.
I will read it as soon as I get a chance!

I did mine as short stories, and sometimes had to leave out some stuff when I did it because of people who are living. I wish now I would have done my memoirs as a whole story from beginning to an end, (not short stories). I may go back and do it that way later. --When I first did mine I was only writing it for my children and grandkids, then my sister talked me into putting it out there, so I did. But, like I said I may one day add all the little details I couldn't add in for publication. Mine is listed with Goodreads, Lulu, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and some other book places to order online.---I also helped my sister publish her poetry book where she did the poems and I took the photos in the book. It's called The Weeping Rose.

Barb, that is one of the problems with writing memoir, what you say about the people who are still alive or still in our lives. I had to change all names, but it's still tricky. I noticed that your book is not related to your Goodreads profile or rather, you do not have an author profile. Are you still doing that?

I guess I didn't know I didn't have one.

Thanks, I added the books. Like I said mine are memoirs but shorts individual stories. When I first did it it was intended for my kids and grandkids, then I put it out there. I may do another one and add all the stuff I didn't before and make it a flowing story. ---My sister's poetry book is about her life, and I did the photos to add in the book.

Leila wrote: "As far as the Goodreads Giveaways, I have done 3 so far and each one has been great."
I've done one Goodreads Giveaway and I thought it went really well. I didn't realize I could do additional giveaways for the same book, though. I'm going to think about doing that again.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to add my memoir, Diary of a Company Man: Losing a Job, Finding a Life, to the bookshelf. . . . Tomorrow I am taking a call from a member of a cancer patients' writing group asking my advice on how to write and publish a memoir. I am of course eager to help her, but not really sure what one author can suggest to another in this regard. I expect to learn as more than I can teach. I'll get back to you all and report on this conversation.

Thank you for inviting us to add our books to the shelf, Leila. I'm not very adept at using Goodreads, I'm afraid, as I posted something for the Memoir Group on May 17, but I don't see it anywhere. I hope I have better luck this time. I have had three memoirs published, so I hope I can contribute something to the discussion. I also have a Q & A going on Goodreads, devoted to issues involved in diary-form books, and I cordially invite anyone who's interested to take a look.

I don't think I added mine. It's been Amazon number 1 in class here in UK but seems to struggle in the US Amazon, for some reason. All tags gratefully received! Thanks.

Thank you for tagging my book on Amazon. It sounds like a nice thing to do. Can you believe I don't know what it means? Is there any hope for me?

Also have done you Jeffrey, Linda, Deborah and James.
Ruth, I added some tags to your book as you didn’t have any.
James, tags are basically a chance for people who don’t know about your book to perhaps come across it in a tag search. Let’s say I click on the tag ‘memoir’. I am then given the option to narrow by popular tag. I can then choose ‘memoirs’, then ‘inspirational’ etc. The premise is that the number next to the relevant tags you have, determines where you show up on the page in these searches.

Travel To The G-Spot is a semi-autobiographical fictional memoir of a dying writer who looks back at his life through some of his stories. It's been called "very, very funny," and one reviewer said, "if you like Hunter Thompson or H. L. Mencken, you are going to love this book." Several other five-star reviews are on http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007JPR40S. Not sure if this list is the right place for this book, but I think it fits.

My memoir about my experience as an asthmatic, overweight, novice cyclist on the largest cross-country bike event in U.S. history is called, Your Mileage May Vary. It is currently available only as an eBook. I'm sharing the author royalties with the American Lung Association, the group that sponsored the cross-country ride.
