Once Upon A Time
Thanks for doing the spoiler Jackie... I'm so behind on TV right now and I haven't watched last night's episode yet. I've heard it's a good one though!
Since it just aired, I figured most of us wouldn't have seen it yet. Glad I did it. I'm having a hard time keeping up too. Some shows jump the line, though, like this one. I don't care if I have 50 things on the DVR, I'll watch Once first.
LOVED last nights episode, answered a few questions, and brought up so many more. Great mid season cliff hangers, though I'm sad at who dies (won't spoil till others are caught up!)
For some reason, I did not see your comments. I can hardly believe that we have to wait for the next episode. I am sad too.
Yeah, I liked that they shook it up by killing off someone, but I liked the person killed (don't want to say who in case people haven't watched it yet)and didn't want to see him go. I think EQ said that she told Snow a secret and Snow betrayed her by revealing the secret, which led to something bad--maybe EQ losing her love?
Online websites spoiled me already on who dies so go ahead and talk freely even though I haven't watched yet ;)
It is very difficult to wait between episodes. They're going to be taking a mid-season break soon too, right?
Yes, the break started. Imdb has it listed to come back on Jan 8th, I think, but I'm waiting for a more reliable source for confirmation of date.
Everything I've seen so far says Jan 8th like you said Jackie but I don't think that ABC has "officially" said that yet.
So the 12/11 episode was the last one until the break? :(I really liked the reveal that the EQ has her memory intact.
Does she have it completely in tact or did her smoochin with the sheriff help to reveal bits and pieces? And if kissing Emma caused the Sheriff to remember, what are some other triggers for other people?
I think she remembers everything and always has. Otherwise it would be a stupid revenge. And the intro says one remembers and shows her.I was wondering if that's how Emma breaks the curse, if she touches someone or whatever to have them remember.
Jackie said "And the intro says one remembers and shows her."Right, right, right. Totally forgot about that.
I don't think the Emma is the key in the sense someone has to touch her, but rather I think its when someone steps back into the person/place in the story they are supposed to be. For example, I think if Mary Margaret and Prince Charming (whatever his Storybrook name is) kiss, that my propel them to remember. Emma's existence is just helping propel these people towards who they are supposed to be.
Once Upon a Time has dipped into the Whedonverse yet again to fill a guest-starring role.Amy Acker, who had roles on both Joss Whedon’s Angel and Dollhouse, will visit ABC’s fantastical freshman drama as a romantic interest for both Grumpy (of the Seven Dwarves) and his surly Storybrooke counterpart, Leroy, in a late winter episode that delves into the grouch’s backstory.
Lee Arenberg (Grumpy/Leroy) cheered the casting via Twitter, saying that on Friday he was “living the dream” working opposite both Acker and Ginnifer Goodwin (aka Snow White/Mary Margaret) — though it was not clear in which of the show’s two worlds their scenes were taking place.
Well, TVLine can exclusively report that Acker will play characters in both Storybrooke and the fairy tale world that was.
Earlier this fall, Once cast Buffy the Vampire Slayer alumna Emma Caulfield as the Blind Witch from Hansel and Gretel lore; she will appear in this season’s ninth episode (get exclusive scoop here). Of course, Buffy/Angel/Dollhouse vet Jane Espenson is a writer/producer for Once.
Acker’s TV resume also includes ABC’s Happy Town and No Ordinary Family, and last month’s Lifetime movie Dear Santa. Ironically, she will also guest-star this winter on NBC’s Grimm, which like Once (though in a decidedly different way) revolves around fairy tale characters.
Once Upon a Time, having aired its seventh episode/fall finale this month, resumes its freshman run Jan. 8
Holly, Thanks for sharing this. I'm a fan of Joss Whedon's shows and the actors. It's great to see them still working.
She murdered her father, squeezed the life out of her lover's heart and conjured a curse that ripped the lives of thousands of people from their homes, erasing their memories and leaving them stranded in a foreign world. What makes Once Upon a Time's Evil Queen so evil? That soon will be answered on the ABC fairy-tale drama, but portrayer Lana Parrilla teases that the origin of her malevolence springs from one place. "It's one particular moment," she tells TVGuide.com. "It's one thing that just explodes and branches off into all these other little things, but it's one big f----up that changes her life."
"We'll go back in time in fairy-tale land and see who she was before she became this evil queen," she adds. "The big secret will be revealed."
Before she was sending the Hunstman after Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin), she was married to Snow's father, King Leopold (Richard Schiff), though their dysfunctional union was the catalyst for her hatred of Snow. "There is an episode coming up where you do see the king and queen together and you can see the hardship between them," she says. "You learn of how unhealthy and unsupportive that relationship was. How he always favored his daughter more than her."
Whether she truly loved the king or was only seeking his status remains to be seen, but the Evil Queen is capable of love as we'll come to learn that she had a previous lover she truly cared for. "It is someone that you've met before," she reveals. "You see this really soft, vulnerable side to her. Even her voice shifts with a softness to it. She wants to love, it's just difficult for her. Once she has it, she doesn't really know how to sustain it or stabilize it."
Her inability to love was proved when she killed off the only man in Storybrooke who's ever shown her affection. "I don't think she feels good about what she did," Parrilla says of Regina killing Graham (Jamie Dornan) in the midseason finale. "You see a tear coming out of Regina's eye when she crushes the heart, which, to me, is very telling. You can see that this was not an easy decision for her."
Holli wrote: I feel bad for Rumple now after last night's episode.... Me too. I see him in a whole new light. I didn't like seeing him so pathetic but I can now understand why he's the way he is and it also got me thinking, does he have control over the way he is? I don't think so.
Great article! I'm so excited to see what exactly twisted EQ in the super-bitch we see today.
No sympathy from me for her with the tear, it didn't stop her from killing Graham/Huntsman. And that is even more telling.
What and who I am wondering about is Rumple's wife? I may have misunderstood this, but the soldier that was picking up children at age 14 said it was no wonder his wife had left him because he was a coward. Hmmmm.
Maybe she didn't find out til later, after he was home from the war and they had the kid, that he was a coward?
It's possible. It would explain their animosity towards one another. They're the evil ones, wouldn't it stand to reason that they back each other? But they don't. Now why is that? Huummm.
I don't think Rumple has control either which makes it even more tragic.... poor man.....and very very interesting thought about EQ and Rumple!!!
Christine wrote: "Would it be too out of line to think its [Rumple's wife/mother of son] the EQ?"Interesting! And what happened to Rumple's son? Where/who is he?
The other thing my daughter and I were wondering about is who is Henry's father? Was that ever explained? We don't remember.

We were wondering about him too.
Never said who Henry's father is. We just found out he was born in jail, that was a bit shocking. Though, now I can see why she gave him up. Also that this info was in her juvenile records. She looks a bit old to have had a kid while a teen in jail. Or is it her hard life that makes her look older and harder?

Tonight's ep: (view spoiler)[ You just knew the sheriff was doomed when he started to remember. Too bad he's gone, I was starting to like him.
Still don't know why EQ hates Snow, and apparently her husband/Snow's father who she killed. I want to know what set all this into motion, it's time we knew. If they drag it out much longer I'm going to get bored and frustrated. (hide spoiler)]
