message 652: by Megan L (new)

Megan L Harnett | 806 comments I finished On the Prowl which is the prequel to the Alpha and Omega series. Even though it was really short I enjoyed this story. I am looking forward to reading the rest of this series.

Nancy H | 1111 comments Thanks, Sue. We had a great Thanksgiving, actually two, one with my family and another one with my husband's family, so I have been very well fed this week!
I finished Girl with a Pearl Earring, and I really liked it. Once again, thank you for all of your great picks for me. I have to read a book for another book club next, so I don't think I will have time to read anything more from my list for this month. But there is always next month!

Thanks again and happy reading!

message 655: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa (jynx66) | 52 comments Ok!

So I have 2 books to report!

I finished my buddyread with Moviemavengal, Covet (The Fallen Angels, #1) by J.R. Ward . I enjoyed it, but I wish there had been more romance in it. Some of the emotional responses seemed a little out of place too. But overall it was good!

NEXT: I finished Caine's Reckoning by Sarah McCarty . At first the book started really slow, and as I had guessed, it was because it was introducing the characters. Either way, once the book got going a little, I enjoyed it. ^_^

So 2 good books under my belt! I'm glad I finally got to Caine's Reckoning! Thanks Gigi!

message 656: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne (pebblesy) Hey there,

Two things - one I think you have joint the two Suzanne's in the list of what people have read as I haven't read infinity.

Two - I managed to read Redeeming Love and Long Hard Ride this weekend. Both fantastic recommendations thankS!

message 657: by Polina (new)

Polina (p0lit0o) | 71 comments Hey, guys! I just finished forever and God! was it long!!! I'm just glad I finally got it off my back!

message 658: by Nairabell (new)

Nairabell | 433 comments Oops - I forgot to put that I'd finished another buddy read of A Killer Plot. It was a good read, but the main character bugged me.

message 659: by Michelle (new)

Michelle [Helen Geek] (michelle_reads_to_relax) | 63 comments The Vampire Academy :: Okay, glad I tried this one, but just didn't click for me. I know I'm definitely in the minority on this one and am quite alright. Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1) by Richelle Mead

message 660: by Amanda (new)

Amanda | 46 comments Just finished Virgin River. It took me a few chapters to get into it, but once I did I enjoyed it. I can't wait to start on other books in the series.

message 661: by Isabella (new)

Isabella Queirouz | 201 comments I finished The host and Rules of attraction and I enjoyed both.
"The Host" keeps you mesmerized and once you like this book you can't put it off, and even after finishing it you'll think deeply about it. "Rules of attraction" is a nice YA book, funny and romantic and got 4 stars frm me.
I don't know if it counts the buddy read I finished reading with Christine Naked In Death this one it was one of my recs to her.

message 662: by Christine (new)

Christine | 955 comments I finished The Darkest Hour. It was a good read with insanely likable characters. But everything was a just a little too neat and tidy and easy. However, I still look forward to checking out more books in this series.

message 663: by Yz the Whyz, Moderator (new)

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments Becky and Sana,

I finished City of Bones a few days ago, and I was glad to get it off my TBR pile. Maybe I've been reading too many YA books these days, I was mildly disappointed. Still, I'm going to find time to finish this trilogy, but it might be a while before I pick up the next book.

Thanks for the nudge to read it. : )

message 664: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Hey Shannon - Just to let you know that I have been really slack! I've been travelling, so I've been listening to audiobooks and using my ereader. Unfortunately 'Bitten' (my selection from you list) was a MMPB - and I still haven't finished it! But I am still going and really like what I've read so far. Just wanted to let you know where I'm at :)

message 665: by Joyce (new)

Joyce (eternity21) | 739 comments I finished my buddy read with Kami of Clockwork AngelI give it 4 stars. I am really looking forward to reading the next in the series.

message 666: by Macwolf01 [Elise] (new)

Macwolf01 [Elise] (macwolf01) | 1012 comments Hi Amanda, I downloaded I'll Be Home for Christmas (Includes: Bullet Catcher, #4) I should be done by Wednesday.

Thanks E

Nairabell, I finally finished A Killer Plot, it wasn`t bad I like that I didn`t figure out the end too early. But her overly descriptive writing drove me a little nuts. Sorry it took so LONG between changing work units and starting to see someone new I wasn`t reading much.
E

Thanks again for the great picks, Lauren.

I finished:
Texas Destiny (Texas Trilogy, #1) by Lorraine Heath . 4 stars. Not my usual read and the hero was unique, which I really loved.
Deadly Lies (Deadly, #3) by Cynthia Eden . 3 stars. This was the one I liked least in the series, but it was still enjoyable.

Not sure I'll get to more this month.

message 669: by Brett (new)

Brett | 478 comments Hey Nancy,
I finished Naked in Death (In Death, #1) by J.D. Robb . I liked it. A little slow at first (SPOILER!!!!) and I figured out one of the killers early on (which is a problem for me and these kind of books, I always figure it out and then main character doesn't for like 80% of the book), but once the book started moving I really enjoyed it.

I don't know if I'll get anymore read this month. This month was hard to read. I had a lot of school work. I still plan on reading Twenties Girl and Watermelon and of course Lionheart, but it probably won't get done by the end of this month. haha Thanks for the picks tho! :)

Good, Brett, I'm glad you liked it. I won't be finishing anymore from my list this month either, because I have to read a book for a book club I am in here by Thursday, and it is a longer one. I really liked Twenties Girl so I think you might, too. I haven't read Watermelon myself, yet, although I have it. Let me know when you start it, even if that is off in the future, and maybe I will read my copy along with you if I'm not in the middle of something else big at the time. I'm glad you liked your picks!

message 671: by Christine (new)

Christine | 955 comments I'm up to #79 on the wait list for The Night Circus from my local library. Something tells me I won't be getting it in time for this month's challenge. Maybe by January...

Just finished Causing Havoc by Lori Foster and gave it 5 *'s

It was surprisingly good... I thought I wouldn't like it because... come on!, professional fighters?, dumb and macho guys punching and hitting everything and everyone to appear strong?
but boy... was I wrong.... the guys were pretty nice, funny, smart and quite macho but in a nice way.
I liked Eve and Dean's sisters, especially Jacki and her big oaf of a boyfriend, he was sooo cute!, and I really laughed when he tried to explain himself "ok... I know I pissed you off... but can you explain to me how I did it so I can avoid it in the future?"
hahaha

The plot was interesting enough but the bad guys weren't bad enough for my taste.
I am very interested in this Simon character...

Thanks for my picks Elke, I really enjoyed it!

Caroline (pip_squeak) Flame & I have just finished reading The Summoning as a buddy rea! I really enjoyed it and found it fast paced! Looking forward to reading the next book x x

message 676: by Erin (new)

Erin (erin-b) I finally finished Bloodfever (Fever, #2) by Karen Marie Moning . I'm glad I got around to reading it at last, but I wish I had liked it more. Mac still annoys me, though less than in the first book. Thanks for the encouragement to get it off my TBR Suzanne. I'm also still hoping to read The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen but the waiting list at my library is going really slow. It'll likely have to wait until next month.

message 677: by SandyC (new)

SandyC (sandyc88) | 1287 comments I finished my pick Into the Wilderness. I gave it 4 stars. Thanks to Grace for the nudge to read it!

message 678: by Amy J. (new)

Amy J. | 349 comments I finished Violet Midnight. I didn't like it very much. I felt the plot wasn't fully developed and the dialogue stunk. I never felt any connection between the hero and the heroine. It did have a good premise, but I was disappointed in how it was realized.

Megan L Harnett | 806 comments I finished Hounded (Iron Druid Chronicles, #1) by Kevin Hearne and I think I liked it. I listened to it through an audio book and I would highly suggest reading it this way. The story took a little while to get going and there wasn't any romance in it like I like but it was a great paranormal adventure story.

If you think you liked it, keep going. The books just get better and better.

message 682: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa (jynx66) | 52 comments Finished Lover Eternal (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #2) by J.R. Ward just a few minutes ago. Really enjoyed it! I was really thrown by their first time together, it just screamed wrong to me. And when he gave her up to save her, I nearly cried. REALLY good book! Enjoyed it a lot!

Thanks Gigi!

message 684: by Kami (new)

Kami (aidansmama) | 988 comments I finished Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices #1), my buddy read with Joyce yesterday. I liked it and gave it four stars. I liked the characters a lot.

message 685: by Mandy (new)

Mandy (mandypants) Oops! I was forgetting to update too. I read In Bed with a Highlander and Long Hard Ride. I enjoyed them both.

message 686: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly I wont be able to finish The Godfather by Mario Puzo I got slammed with a lot of final assignments at school last minute.

message 687: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 4477 comments I'm not sure I'll finish Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children either. It's going well but I started too late. I'm trying to finish the lifetime challenge which is due in two weeks and it took all my time this month. Sorry Kimmy! I'll let you know how I liked it once I'm done with it in a few days.

message 688: by Kimmy (new)

Kimmy (kimmypdt) | 58 comments lol, DG - I've started Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children as well, like it but not really into it so it's dragging! Hi Alyssa! I'm so glad you've enjoyed the books you've read. You're very welcome. I have to finish Caines Reckoning myself. I've heard great things about it. As for the Brotherhood series, you MUST and I mean MUST read the next book in the series which in my opinion is probably one of the (if not the) best book in the series- Lover Awakened.

message 690: by Diane ~Firefly~ (new)

Diane ~Firefly~ | 1511 comments I made it just in time.

Cheryl, thanks for recommending Beautiful Lies. I just finished it and it was my first by the author. It's been awhile since I read a thriller, so it was a nice change of pace.

Beautiful Lies (Ridley Jones, #1) by Lisa Unger

message 691: by Shell (new)

Shell | 2 comments Hi Erin B,

I'm unable to finish The Eyre Affair. I just can't get into it. There's too much stress in my real life to give me time to think so most of my reading has been fluffy escapist feel good reading that doesn't require too much effort. I'm keeping it on my list of TBR, but I'll have to pick it up again another time. Thanks for the recs though!

Lili, I am sorry to say that I was unable to complete my challenge! =( I expected to recover enough to be able to read before I finally did. I hope to be able to fit my pick into December, since it seems I am starting to be able to read again!

No worries, sometimes you're just not in the mood for something. Hope life gets less stressful for you.

Melanie (Moviemavengal) (moviemavengal) | 31 comments I finished my buddy read, Covet, by J. R. Ward. I give her props for creativity, but I am getting weary of all her tough guy, sh**kicker banter. Glad to have finished it, and have it off my TBR pile.

Alyssa picked Burning Up for my short story collection, and I just finished that today. Loved it! Three of the authors are already my favorites, and I enjoyed all of them, but the Nalini Singh one not as much as the others. Angela Knight's world is very intriguing, and I may have to try her series.

I finished the book, Kimmy!

I can't say that it was the best book ever but I enjoyed it. I was a very curious by the end though so I'll definitely be reading the next book. Good that I'm not dying to read it because it comes out in 2013!

Thanks for the rec. :)

message 698: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 4477 comments Kimmy wrote: "hope ya finish the lifetime challenge! That sounds like a big one!"

Yup...it's a big one. Read a book published in every year of your life. :) In my case, we're talking about 35 books and I've been going at it for 1 1/2 years. :)

I only have one book to go for the year 1982. I have several choices to pick from and only week to go for the deadline.

Wish me luck!

message 699: by Kimmy (new)

Kimmy (kimmypdt) | 58 comments @ DG - wow, what an awesome accomplishment!!! Good luck for sure, especially with the busy holiday season! That's a cool challenge.

I also finished it, wished the ending was an ending instead of a beginning of the next book - lol. I feel the same, liked it, maybe 2 1/2 to 3 stars? Not the best book I've ever read - but decent. Also good to know about the 2013 publishing year for the next one! I have a pile of other series I can try and finish between now and then.

Ah well, I'm off to read Handle with Care by Jody Picoult for my live book club's December book for now. Good luck with 1982!!

message 700: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 4477 comments Thanks! I was able to finish the challenge. I feel all accomplished!

BTW...I saw a trailer for a movie that reminded me of Miss Peregrine's book a lot:
