Sue (knitwitsl) | 226 comments Jojo,

I finished The Dovekeepers last night. I really did like the book, and of course was a bit sad at the ending - even though I knew what the book was about! Thank you for recommending it!

Nancy,

I'm ready to read Carbs & Cadavers! I'll start on the book tonight.

Hi Sue,
I just finished Agnes and the Hitman, which took me longer than usual to finish, because I picked up Smokin' Seventeen when I was in the middle of it, and ended up reading that one in a day! I liked "Agnes" but I liked some of her other books better- I thought this one had a slow start. I picked up Carbs and Cadavers this morning and read the first chapter- I think it is going to be very good. I will set up our Buddy Read thread for that one in case anybody else wants to comment on it, too.
Thanks again for the good recommendations - I have had "Agnes" on my TBR pile for a long while, and am glad to get it finished!

I finished [book:Love My Way
this morning. I didn't love it, I didn't hate it so two stars. I figure this challenge is all about reading things we would never read otherwise and I would never have picked up this book. I thought the whole insight into the BDSM was interesting--I guess there really is something for everyone. Still hoping to read the Nalini Singh this month.

I finished Stormwalkeryesterday 11/18/11. I give it 4 stars. It was a really good story. I enjoyed the Navajo aspect of the book.

Finished Flat-Out Sexy on 11/11/11 - loved it and have already ordered the second book in the series and recommended it to a friend & she is reading it now. 5 stars
Read Vampire Academy liked the dynamics between Lissa and Rose with their special bond. Enjoyed the sarcastic wit between Chritian and Rose. I will probably finish the series as I get to it or can fit in challanges over the next year. 3 stars
Thanks again for the rec's

Jim son of Jim (formerly PhotoJim) (jim_formerly_photojim) | 5294 comments Melissa, the second book in the Fast Track series, Hard and Fast, is my favorite in the series. I do have to admit that I've only read the first four so far though. Imogen in book two is an absolute hoot! Enjoy.

It sounds like it will be good and it cracks me up that Ty can't say her name right, even after having her repeat it several times, haha

Jojo | 1010 comments Hi Moviemavengal,

Just to let you know I finished Sugarplums and Scandal: All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth / Lords of Misrule / Ghost of Christmas Passed / Partners in Crime / Holly Go Lightly / Very Vampy Christmas - I love reading christmas books in the run up to christmas, it definitely gets me in the mood. Thanks for the recommendation I don't often read short stories but I enjoyed this one.

I was the same as you Pam! I have to admit I wasn't the biggest fan of the book either, but it was definitely an area you hadn't read before. We can now tick it off our list as something we've read but wouldn't feel the need to explore the genre more maybe?

Michelle [Helen Geek] (michelle_reads_to_relax) | 63 comments Just started the Ice Princess, my short story challenge read. Love Elizabeth Hoyt. Expect to finish in an hour or so and will update then. Thanks Ashleigh for the prompt to move this up in my TBR.
Did the buddy read on Minion with Ashleigh. An absolutely horrid book, but loved sharing with Ashleigh Minion.
Reading now: The Ice Princess

Debbie (db_debber) | 2757 comments Isabella, I am not going to have time to read our buddy read this month, even if I get it now. So frustrating how long it takes to get these from the library sometimes. Sorry to keep you waiting. So glad you seemed to enjoy some of the others you have read this month.

message 615: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments I finished up Exposure which was my modern family pick from AlbertaJenn - it was cute, but written in first person which is not a favorite style of mine; and almost more sex than plot...I ended up giving it 2 stars - but thanks for the pick!

Nancy H | 1111 comments Sue,
I just finished our Buddy Read - Carbs and Cadavers. I really liked it, and once I got into it, I couldn't stop reading. I thought that in a few places there were some plot devices that were a bit hokey, but I think that will improve itself in the rest of the series entries (or so a friend who has read the whole series tells me!). I liked the idea of the group supporting each other in their weight loss efforts, and that it is a realistic look at how hard it is to lose weight, which I can attest to myself.

All in all, I thought it was a good read - thanks for recommending I read it this month, since I have had it on my shelf for a very long time.

Did you finish it yet? Were you surprised at who the killer was? Or the dynamic between some of the members of the Supper Club?

I did start the book last night, but I only got to page 60! I kept falling asleep last night. But so far I like the idea of the book and meeting the characters in the group. I should read a lot more today!

It was ok, I only gave it 2 stars, there was too much stuff going on in the story for me to follow. I'll give the second book a try because some of the dialogue made me chuckle.

Nancy,

I finished Carbs & Cadavers last night. I wasn't surprised at who the killer was, although I thought it was someone else most of the time, but I was close! And I did like the dynamics of the Supper Club. I just kept thinking that I would love to have some kind of support group like that around here. It's hard to meet people and have something like that in a city the size I live in. But it sure would be nice!

Hi Sue,
I'm glad you liked it. I really did, too, and now I am eager to read the sequels. I liked that they did things as a group, and often utilized the individual strengths of the various people in their group.
I am very lucky to have a group of friends like that in my life - we don't solve crimes, but we are supportive of each other, and try to help each other out when we can. Most of us are teachers and although I have retired and don't see my friends at school every day now, we still stay in touch frequently and feel very close emotionally to each other. I am blessed to have these wonderful women in my life - one more blessing to be counted today!
