Do you mean "Amelia", Knarik?

Well, naw, I don't have enough of an opinion to be not a fan. That's just lot of man perm in that film.

It was only recently that I discovered Paul Reubens and Pee Wee Herman were not the same person.

Huh?

Yes, I knew I typed something wrong! (:

Let The Right One In, which was awesome.
Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant, which was terrible, but in a campy fun way. I laughed the whole time - at it, not with it. Good supporting cast. They all looked like they were having fun and in on the joke, unlike the deadly serious teenage characters.

I just the ad for the next Twilight movie - here we go again!
Let the Right One In is one of the best vampire films I've ever seen, and I dislike the genre. That movie creeped me out for days at a time. I'm looking forward to seeing it again, though I'm not looking forward to the US remake. Yeah, you read right.

Jackie, I'd never heard of Cirque du Freak, but I kind of liked the pro-freak message. Strangely, it was the only movie that didn't get vetoed by somebody or another when my family was here this weekend. And not a teenage boy in sight.

Ok, is it just me or is it wrong that A Christmas Carol is coming out this Friday? I really want to see it because I'm a sucker for Christmas Carol movies but I don't want to see it until after Thanksgiving!
Yes, Sarah, there will be an American remake, which I believe will be called simply "The Right One." For every good US remake (like The Departed, which was a remake of a Hong Kong flick called Infernal Affairs), there's crap like you mentioned previously. Wings of Desire is one of the best films ever made, and one of my 20 favorites; City of Angels is an abomination that should never be spoken of again.

Starring Dakota Fanning and Zack Ephron, or whomever the Disneyboy of the week is. Set in LA.
A remake for remake's sake - without a good director's vision and a reason for existence - never works out well.
Infernal Affairs was excellent. The Departed had the advantage of a stellar cast AND Scorcese, and I thought it did a reasonable job. That's another case of what I'd call a good cover version.
I agree with you on both Wings of Desire and City of Angels. Top ten and bottom ten, respectively.
Jaimie -The Vampire's Assistant was certainly craptastic fun. Worth the price of a rental, but not a movie ticket.
Sarah, here are some details regarding the Let the Right One In remake:
"Let the Right One In" Remake Announces Cast and Start Date
It does look promising; it will star Kodi Smit-McPhee (the boy from The Road) and Richard Jenkins. I may now be inclined to see it, but I'm still not harboring a lot of hope that it will trump the original, or even match it.

"Let Me In" is a cheesy title. I'm not sure how I feel about New Mexico either.

Sweet! I'm adding it to my Netflix que.

I recently watched Drag Me to Hell - it was surprisingly spooky... until I realized it was a Sam Raimi film. Then I recognized his touch all over it. It had some editing deficits, but overall, it was actually pretty decent for a scare... enough that I stopped it 10 minutes into the movie when I was watching it alone at my place late at night and decided to save it for the next day... watching it with the blinds open and sunlight streaming into my place, dog securely settled onto my lap. :)

Darn it.

Happy now, RA?

Hell yeah, I'm going. I can't wait to see Dakotah Fanning as the evil heartless cruel vampire, Jane. I'm seriously intrigued to see if she can pull it off - it'll be a big transition for her from her little girl roles. PLUS, I was already a Pattinson fan back when he was Cedric Diggory.
Don't hate.

I'll see if I can pry Gretchen's copy out of her hands...
Heidi, the next movie looks pretty cool. I'd go with you, if I lived anywhere near you. :)
