Author Interviews at Tim Greaton Forum... discussion
Hello thread

We are authors, why not create the magic silver bullet? Seriously, I hear what you're saying. I agree.
Lynn

I've never heard of them before. Looks great for the readers though. I might have to check them out when I'm a little more awake.
Lynn

I hope it all turns out to be something simple and safe. Best always, Sandy."
Oh dear hope all goes well for him - and you all.

Oh deep joy, scraping wallpaper off of the wall. Nearly done though.
Thought any more about the interview Tim or are you too busy?

Hi there Nel. Will you let me know when the copies of Shasta Summer arrive on your doorstep please?

I enjoy reviewing books Nel and to be honest most of the time I get snowed down, but the way I see it... if you've given an honest opinion of a book, what is the problem.(Better not read one at all if it is genuinely rubbish though) Occasional I get one that is really not my thing at all but I judge it on the content NOT on my preferred taste. I disagree about pandering, if you're just reviewing a book for self gratification then that is a definite no no.

Wow that's excellent news Nel thank you. Any feedback in January would be good thanks :)

Hi, Tee. Please remind me are we talking about an interview for me or for you? Sorry, but I'm in between writing grant applications and didn't open my box to check. I've been answering guest blogs and interviews for at least three hours a day this week, but I still have quite a few left in my box to handle.
In short, please remind me and I'll move yours to the top of the list :-)

Nel, I read at least a novel every seven days, some by people I know, some not. I review each and every one, and I try not to worry about how other people feel about that. If all readers would write reviews, we wouldn't all be needing them so much. In short, someone has got to do it, and I will continue to do my part. Are my reviews biased? Probably, but better that than none at all, and I try to make my reviews as informative as possible so at least readers will know what kind of a story to expect.
So, in short, I absolutely think you should review other people's books, as many as possible. We all should, including readers who don't write.

Nel, I don't often voice my opinion about this issue and please don't use me as a poster boy for future discussions, but here goes: I don't write bad reviews but I do occasionally NOT write any review. If a book isn't deserving of at least some kind of praise, I'd prefer not to be the ultimate judge.
HOWEVER, I never offer feedback on those bad stories unless it's someone I know well and unless I'm asked. Most writers don't really want to hear negative feedback...and that is their right. So, I praise when warranted and remain silent when not. Besides, I've disliked a lot of books that have sold millions of copies...which clearly illustrates that my opinion is only valid for my tastes.

Nel, I have learned as authors and public figures it's important to support your friends and peers, but it's equally important to keep your head down and never become the lightning rod for any given issue. Of course, we all have opinions but it's best to forget most of them when we're in public forums. Making enemies and welcoming problems when it can impact your reputation, sales, etc... is just not a good idea.
In summary, I wouldn't let other people's issues with authors bother me, and I would never take a side and argue or even state my opinions. There are plenty of people without books and reputations on the line to work those topics out. We're better off to do what we must in the background.

Thankfully, I haven't had any issues with anyone about my reviews or communications at all, Nel. I think most people recognize that I'm working hard and am supporting an industry and people that I'm passionate about. I also don't insert myself into discussions than can get disagreeable. As previously mentioned, you and I have too much on the line to get involved in personality or opinion issues.

Nel, I didn't see any negativity, and I certainly don't know about being a treasure. My wife would probably swap me out for a tank of gas and maybe a breakfast muffin :-)

Congrats, Arthur. I bought the first one and took advantage of your free coupon for the second. You're on my TBR list :-)

Sometimes it's just nice to sit in the back seat and listen. :)

VETERANS DAY
One day each year we set aside to honor the men and women of our armed services. Though today is a moment when we all stand in concert to express our gratitude to our veterans each and every one, don't forget to make time during all your other days to employ them, to encourage them, and to assist them and their families wherever and whenever they might be in need. Soldiers don't make policy, but they do have a policy, a code...to do what they must to keep us safe. Let's adhere to the unwritten civilian code: let's support them in all ways possible, not just today...but each and every day of the year. Tim Greaton

Great to have you join the fun, Jeff. Our discussions range all over the place, but I try to keep nudging us along all things marketing and networking. The more we can learn about selling books and increasing our circles, the more successful we will be as a group :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars A STUPENDOUS, FANTASTIC READ!, September 9, 2011

I can't believe this book is only .99c. Having read it, I know it is worth so much more in emotional investment; a story of such power, written so beautifully has my vote every time. I wish I could give it more than five stars.
Tim Greaton became one of my favoured authors with his Santa Story and he has gained my respect and further admiration with this novel about a young boy, murdered and taken to Under Heaven, where he has to make a "life changing" decision.
I was wondering how Mr Greaton would tackle the ending, so was amazed and delighted with his solution.
This novel is the stuff of which QUALITY films are made and for which boxes of tissues were invented.
I highly recommend Under Heaven.
