I just made an "incomplete" poll and felt we should also have a topic about it. There are just soo many good ones that just won't ever be completed out there (for one reason or another).
Anywho- I wanted a place for us to share which ones we're sad about that won't have a proper ending

(I know that it's technically 'finished', but I still feel like it's incomplete)

I felt that for a good 6 months all I picked up were incomplete series. (not ongoing, but series that will never see an ending unless they are picked back up by a publisher, the mangaka feels so moved to finish it, or any combo of the above.)

These were the ones I picked up:
The Candidate for Goddess, Vol. 2 by Yukiru Sugisaki
The World Exists for Me (Volume 2) by Chiho Saitou
Immortal Rain, Vol. 5 by Kaori Ozaki
Clover (Omnibus Edition) by CLAMP
to name a few.

Other good ones that I liked (off the top of my head)were:
Blue Inferior Volume 1 by Kyoko Shitou
Millenium Snow, Volume 2 by Bisco Hatori
D.N. Angel, Band 14 by Yukiru Sugisaki

I'm just sad that they aren't done!
*tear*

I feel that way about a lot of series!

Jamie | 46 comments Due to the horrid feeling I get when I cannot finish something, I tend to not even get started. But one I was reading was Nana, Vol. 1 (Nana, #1) by Ai Yazawa . For a few years now its been in limbo and I have basically given up on the author ever finishing it. Since I started the series when reading Shojo Beat, its left me hanging once I got a few manga further on my own. (I also miss the magazine series I just mentioned too, lol).

Wow, several of these I planned to read but now know there are more that will leave my wanting more and unable to get a resolution.

Yeah. I mean for me, Clover seemed complete enough, but the others were cut-off in the middle. I mean, there are so many from Tokyopop it's ridiculous. It's really a shame. The ones I had listed were very good. But there are lots more too.

Platinum Garden, Volume 1 by Maki Fujita
Legal Drug, Volume 1 by CLAMP
Magical JxR Volume 1 by Lee Sun-Young

Jamie | 46 comments Well, if its at least rounded off and doesn't completely leave you hanging, it isn't too bad. And I agree, Tokypop does seem to have a lot that do not get finished. Makes me wonder it is the Writer/Artist of the company.

Doc (docpersona) | 233 comments Yeah... *looks in the direction of Tokyopop then to Broccoli Books* I want more SGT Frog manga but I wouldn't mind seeing more Fate/Stay Night. I also would like to see more from Disgaea 2.

I don't know if you are aware, but CLAMP is re-issuing Legal Drug under a new name and continued it "Drug & Drop" I believe is the new title. But sadly they won't be released by TokyoPop. I could be wrong & if I am, please someone correct me

Lear | 56 comments How about some X? Great series by CLAMP put on indefinite hold in fall 2001 since destroying the twin towers of a tokyo government building was hitting too close to 9/11. Hopefully they'll be given the green light to continue it.

On a side note I'm glad to see this group is still around.

I had heard it was due to a number of suicides that seemed to be taken from the series.

Yes, we're still plugging away and growing!

I wasn't aware! That is exciting! It is an older one, so I didn't think it would ever get finished.

From what I understand with TokyoPop is that they kept an HQ in Germany but basically went under in the US. I mean they sold off everything on the street one weekend. So, whatever was in the middle of production will remain unfinished. Other publishers could pick up stories only if they are released from TP, but that seems unlikely for most titles. This could mean a number of popular titles might finish with a different, or slightly different title as the original is still owned by TP.

The anime of Fate/Stay Night is complete if you want to watch it instead. From what I understand, the two stayed fairly true to eachother.

I didn't know Broccoli was no longer producing! That makes me sad, I liked them!

And another fan of Disgea! I don't come across too many who know of the manga!

message 15: by Lear (new)

Lear | 56 comments X did have the whole suicide thing but the official reason it is on hold is that the destruction of the diet building was too close to the events of 9/11. After all america isn't a nation you want to upset by ignoring that major of an event.

I've heard rumors CLAMP has been playing with the idea of just releasing a couple volumes to get past that event so they can continue. It would be a tactful way to handle it.

message 16: by Maurice (new)

Maurice (andulien) | 15 comments I have to agree on X. Such a great series and to bad it never got and probably never will get finished :(

D.N. Angel is still on the verge of maybe sometime in the far future to get finished. Tho atm it has been almost two years since the last Manga came out...

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

Eh D.N Angel is not completed yet? It took years for volume 10 onward to get published here that some people lost interest in this manga.

my 'best incomplete manga' will be Trinity Blood, Vol. 1, the author died ;_; it's like the future version of Chrno Crusade and it has unique artwork.

Starbubbles | 871 comments Mod
I thought Trinity Blood had more than one volume. Did someone from the team add to it, or am I confusing it with something ridiculous such as Trigun?

message 19: by [deleted user] (new)

12 volumes

message 20: by Starbubbles, Respected Elder (new)

Starbubbles | 871 comments Mod
Yeah, I thought I saw more than one at the library.

message 21: by James (new)

James | 29 comments amnesia labyrinth from the creator of haruhi suzumiya. it spluttered out of life after only 2 volumes, with lots of questions left unanswered. and would have really liked to have found out what was going on. (that said it was getting creepy towards the end, even by manga standards)

message 22: by Ash (new)

Ash | 25 comments D Gray Man breaks my heart to think I will more than likely never know the end.
