I read Immanuel's Veins by Dekker & really liked it :) I will definitely read more of his books :)
Just finished The Son of Neptune, and am now about to start reading
, time to catch up on my Sherlock Holmes reading.
Todd wrote: "I'm reading four books as of this writing.Todd, I'm listening to Bag of Bones as an audio book and it's read by Stephen King himself. I read it years ago so I'm really enjoying getting familiar with it again.
This morning I just finished Rules of Civility and now I'm starting A Discovery of Witches. Discovery of Witches is way outside my usual genre, but I've heard so many good things about it, I'm going to try it. Got it on my Kindle from my library.

I've been wanting to read A Discovery of Witches, please let me know if it's any good.

I recently finished Secret of the Sandsby Rai Aren and I'm now almost done with Bubba and the 12 Deadly Days of Christmasby C.L. Bevill. Bubba's a fun/funny read. I'm really enjoying it.
and
I have two mysteries on the go at the moment, Blind Fury by Lynda La Plante, a DI Anna Fraser police mystery and The Serpent's Tale, the second in Ariana Franklin's Mistress of the Art of Death mysteries, set during the time of Henry II. Both very interesting so far.
I usually read one book at a time. If i read multiple books at once i feel like i can't devote all my joy to one book. Currently, i am reading
. It was recommended by my grandmother who is an avid reader as well.
I just started The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test, interesting so far. I'm am going to finish up Of Love and Shadows, picked up at the library these two: The Blind Assassin and Fanny Hill, or Memoirs of a Woman of Pleasure.Just recently finished: Northanger Abbey, and The House of the Seven Gables
I've finished Secret of the Sandsand I'm now reading Templeby Matthew Reilly and enjoying it. "Oooh Kitty Mad!"
Since I got a Kindle I have become even more inclined to be reading more than one book at a time - at least with actual books I was limited to how many the library let me take home!
I'm in the middle of
. This book is bugging me for some reason. I read the spoilers and I'm not sure I have the desire to continue.
I need to pick up the new Anita Diamant for my book club... yeah, she who wrote The Red Tent. This is her fourth book out now -- I just checked and it came out in 2009!! What sort of time warp have I been living in??? Anyway, it's called Day After Night, and I'm eager to see what it's about.
Linda wrote: "Patricia wrote: "This morning I just finished Rules of Civility and now I'm starting A Discovery of Witches. Discovery of Witches is way outside my usual genre, but..."Linda, I just saw your message to let you know about A Discovery of Witches - well, I read about 30% of it and gave up. It's weird that I can totally believe all the strange things Stephen King writes about but for some reason I just cannot get into the concept of witches, vampires, and ghouls living among us as "normal" people :) I know lots of people have loved this book though, it's just not my genre, but at least now I can say I've tried.
I just finished Jo Nesbo's Headhunters and it was excellent. Now I'm reading Faith by Jennifer Haigh and loving it.
Faith: A Novel
Finished Diamond Sands, now reading the Dresden Files #1 Storm Front by Jim Butcher. Good read so far.

I've actually heard that alot :) Guess I'll wait until my local 2nd-hand bookstore has it, I have enough books to read anyway.

Just finished 'Salem's Lot as part of the buddy reads for this group :D Loved the book from the beginning. The book is written in such a way that the town comes alive as you go along the book. The ending is OK, but I thought an author with the King's calibre would've written a much much better ending. Overall a good read.Just got my copy of The Litigators (released today) and I'll be reading it tonight :D
Patricia wrote: "This morning I just finished Rules of Civility and now I'm starting A Discovery of Witches. Discovery of Witches is way outside my usual genre, but I've heard so ma..."I LOVED this book! Cannot WAIT till the second one comes out!
I JUST finished up Fanny Hill, & found myself really glad I read it. I was hesitant because it's 18th century porn, but it was delightful. Fanny tells it like it was, LOL, & her adventures really made me laugh, as did her descriptions & terms used. The touching part is that she never forgot her first love Charles, & the book has a happy ending too.Now I'm into The Black Dahlia, which I found a trifle tough to get into, but once it got going, it's really good. Those who like the whole true crime or murder mystery genre will like this one, especially since it's a true case that was never solved.
Gina wrote: "currently reading My Name is Memory but I'm convincing myself to not skip to the end because everyone has said that it's great but the ending ruins it.... anyone here read it?"I did! I totally loved it. Do NOT skip to the ending, or you'll lose the whole sense of the book's journey!
Just got an arc copy of a book I won here called The Sisters. I read a couple of chapters and like the story so far. I'll let you know....

It sounds good! Thanks for the recommendation. But question, why do you want to skip to the end...is the book not well written?

I hate that when a writers first book is great and then the others are not as good...think The Time Travelers Wife ..her second book ugh!!
K. wrote: "I'm reading The Help by Kathryn Stockett. I can't wait to see the movie."I gotta say I was very happy with the movie. They did a good job with the actors playing the characters and kept pretty close to the story line! I don't think you'll be disappointed!
I'm reading Rough Countryby John Sandford. I just finished Jim Butcher's Storm Front (which I enjoyed very much.)
I'm currently reading The Shining, The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls, Little Gypsy: A Life of Freedom, a Time of Secrets and Shades of Grey.I've just finished Uzumaki, Volume 1.
Unfortunately this month has been a very bad month for reading :(
Finished Little Gypsy: A Life of Freedom, a Time of Secrets and will be reviewing it on my blog later. Picked up Shades of Grey again :)
Starting off November, I am reading and totally enjoying,
and
, both by new authors for me. I will definitely be reading other books by them.
Just finished The Litigators. I dreaded the beginning, but loved it midway through the book and all to the end. Currently waiting patiently for 11/22/63 to be released in a few more days and that will be my next read.
Enjoyed the wonderfully exciting "The List of Seven" by Mark Frost, now I'm reading #3 of the Lost Fleet by Jack Cambpell, Courageous. It's as good as the other two.

But I still loved it. I love how we learn about Roland's past in flashbacks (sort of like how the TV series Lost did it). But the book did raise a few questions for me though which I hope will be answered in later books. Especially Jake, he's like an enigma to me. Overall I loved it, but not as much as the other King books. I heard it gets much much better from The Drawing of the Three onwards.
It gets much better The Drawing of the Three was probably my favorite one out of all the them well maybe The Dark Tower.. either way those two are close! The series tho is my favorite series ever! Although I kind of felt like you did when I read the Gunslinger I was like um.. ok.. good book but what is all the hype about?
