Can't wait to see what you guys think. That's the first book I read this month.

Iris (ipro) | 277 comments Vi, these are awesome. Starting with Bunny And The Bear since that one is already uploaded onto my NOOK then working my way through the rest of the list. Would definitely be interested in joining the buddy read for Lola and the Boy Next Door later in the month when you start. Thanks for the great picks.

Fran,

Thanks for the wonderful picks!! I definitely plan on reading Archangel's Blade. But I would also like to read Seven Exes Are Eight Too Many. I think that is one of the ones you said you have on Kindle to loan. I would love to borrow that from you if you don't mind!

Thanks so much!

Grace (bookslikebreathing) | 102 comments Just finished Rilla of Ingleside (Anne of Green Gables, #8) by L.M. Montgomery . Loved it. I have only read this one a couple of times and every single time I am shocked by how much I love Rilla and Ken.

I also started a Buddy Read for City of Bones. We start reading on 10/8. Come and join us if you are reading the book this month. The link is here.

What did you think?

message 613: by L-D (new)

L-D (lannie95) I think it was GREAT for a YA book, but I have a bad suspicion that I will be disappointed with the next two. I don't know why I think that - just because it's YA? Yes - I'm totally prejudiced against YA...sorry. I'm waiting for others to finish reading so we can discuss in our buddy read thread.

I just finished the series and Catching Fire and Mockingjay were just as good. This is the only YA series I have found that didn't have the dip in quality between the 1st and last books IMO. I hope you do end up enjoying them :)

Thanks! I'll be glad happy to be proven wrong. I definitely didn't like aspects of the 1st book but I still rated it around 4.5 stars. I liked Katniss in that she was capable and a survivor, but in typical YA fashion, she was oblivious to the male protags feelings.

I know. He basically hit her over the head with it a couple of times and she still was all about Gale. It was more than made up for with excellent action sequences though. But sometimes I just wanted to hit Katniss over the head with a blunt object.

message 618: by Kami (new)

Kami (aidansmama) | 988 comments I finished Zombie Moon, my buddy read with Brett. I thought it was pretty good and I gave it three stars. I am going to read Betrayed next.

My sentiments EXACTLY! And she was even oblivious to Gabe! we BOTH know what he was shouting as they said good-bye and his sentence was cut off and she was like "huh - wonder what he was trying to tell me". Uh - hello. And she found it so easy to be distrustful of Peeta, I felt so bad for him. And the very end of the book? GRRR. I think that's why I think books 2 and 3 are going to make me mad. I hate the love triangle.

I hated the triangle too. She was just so dumb sometimes. I don't know how a character can be so brave and smart and oblivious and dunderheaded at the same time. And the way it was resolved made me pull my hair out.

I still need to be hit over the head multiple times. I guess I expected more adult behavior out of her because she acted like an adult in every other situation.

I really 'get' your discussion - I read HG a few months ago (OK, listened) but haven't continued the series because I can't be bothered with love triangles... I hate it when the choice isn't obvious and someone really does lose... And that is the impression I have for the next two books. :(

Suzanne (pebblesy) Finished my first recommendation: The Unbearable Lightness of Dragons (Light Dragons, #2) by Katie MacAlister This was selected for the "Rock" and it definitely fitted that.
Was a little underwhelmed compared to the first book in the series but it was still pretty good. Would have given it 3.5, but as we can't give halfs I gave it the benefit of the doubt in goodreads and went for 4. Now what to choose next!

Suzanne (pebblesy) Hi Kimberly! I chose Angels' Blood I had been putting off this one as it was a bit more pricy for the kindle (It's crazy that pre kindle $30 for a book was pricy, now $10 seems a lot) but it's got such rave reviews I've bit the bullet and bought it.
Not sure how buddy reads work really but would be keen to give it a try?

I'm going to have to buy that one later this week will that be okay? I'm buying the print version since my library doesn't have it in the system. so I may get it next week because of shipping. Buddy reads are simple :) we can either read the book in sections and discuss it by sections or we can read it in one shot and discuss it after we're both done. LEt me know what works for you :)

message 648: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne (pebblesy) Shall we go with one shot? Sometimes I can be a rather slow reader so will give me a headstart :) Should we create a new thread like others have?
