School By A Volcano by Gwynneth Margaret Ashby

My rating: 4 of 5 stars


School by a Volcano is an information text book. I read this with my current year 4 class as part of their literacy lessons. It was a good read, as myself and the children learnt alot from this book about Japan and volcanoes. We also used this book to do many of our activities during the literacy lessons. The children enjoy factual text books and enjoy inputting their knowledge of what they already know, and tend to do their own research outside of school hours in order to contribute during the next lessons. It contains many photographs corrosponding to the text which can be discussed together as a whole class.
