Oh no I haven't I will take a look. 'The Graveyard Book' became permanently attached to my hand until I finished it. It would be a great project, I think, to compare it to 'The Jungle Book' in class - great opportunity for cross-curricular, drama, music, etc.

Thanks Michael, some great reviews. Do you think the chicken book could be a good cross curricular link with French lessons, if the school teaches French? So Much has always been a popular book with my classes, and since good quality books positively reflecting black and Asian families are still rare, it's of great value in a diverse classroom! Have you read Amazing Grace or Through My Window?

I have a copy of 'Amazing Grace'. I might include it in my next bunch of reviews
Thanks Sajeda! I read The Borrowers to a Y4 class, and for the rest of the year we speculated what they were doing with our pencil sharpners, pen lids and rubbers! do look out for the Studio Ghibli film Arrietty, which would be great to watch with a class and discuss the differences between film and book: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1568921/

Great reviews everyone. Gemma- just posting a link is fine, no need to cut and paste the actual review. Little Old Mrs.Pepperpot I think is the first Mrs Pepperpot book, and I think her shrinking and being able to talk to animals is just a magical event. I love the books, and the problems that being small causes Mrs Pepperpot.
Anthony Browne is an amazing writer and illustrator; his books are so simple and yet so detailed. Thanks Lisa.
My review on 'Pass the Jam, Jim' by Kaye Umansky & Margaret Chamberlain.http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
My Review of 'The Troll' by Julia Donaldson(author of the Gruffalo)
I wasn't sure what I thought of this book when I first read it, so I read it again and I thought that it is very cleverly written. Good for KS2 younger readers.

'This Way Ruby' by Jonathan Emmett. I thought was a wonderful book, many cross-curricular connections.

Thanks Kay, you've been busy! I'm not sure about the books for older readers that Julia Donaldson has written. I prefer her picture books; but I haven't read The Troll.
Would help if I attached the link!! 'Cloud Busting" by Malorie Blackman

Great reviews. Another story about Handa and Akeyo! I haven't read that Michael Morpurgo book either, Hugh.
My review of 'The Orchard Book of Creation Stories' by Louise Brierleyhttp://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
Great review, Razaak. If you like Roald Dahl, I'd recommend Andy Stanton's Mr Gum books- they're very funny.
My review of the Coram Boy by Jamila Gavin. For Year 6 but would need to be censored!http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
I think that there are some disturbing parts to Coram Boy. For that reason I'd say it's appropriate for Y5 and 6. I wouldn't "censor" it; remember many children watch Coronation Street and EastEnders with all their sensational storylines, but I would discuss the decisions the characters make and the consequences with children.
I have 2 more reviews;Elmer- David McKee and The Very Hungry Caterpillar

http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
A review of 'The Short and Bloody History of Highway men' By John Farmanhttp://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
My review of 'Koala Country'. A Story of an Australian Eucalyptus Forest. I enjoyed taking some time out to read this informative book.http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
My review of "Ernest" by Catherine Raynor, a great book for EYFS or KS1.http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
My review of "Lost and Found" by Oliver Jeffers. A book which could be used from EYFS to early KS2, a story based on the theme of friendship.http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/30...
My review of "How to Catch a Star" by Oliver Jeffers. A picture book themed on never giving up and being determined, similar theme to "Ernest" by Catherine Rayner.http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/42...
Hi, I've just realised that I have four reviews that were not uploaded to the PGCE site because I wrote them in the summer before I knew how to upload to this site. So here they are:'To Kill a Mockingbird' by Harper Lee

'Of Mice and Men' by John Steinbeck
http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
'Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark' by Jill Tomlinson
http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
and 'The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas' by John Boyne
