Melody People never seem to understand this part: Claire/Clare isn't being accused of plagiarizing Harry Potter (in fact, her Draco trilogy is so OOC). It's that she's taken lines and, indeed, entire passages from other books, movies, and tv shows without crediting the sources. She'll change one or two words or maybe rearrange a sentence, but the fact remains that they weren't her words or her ideas, and her novels are essentially recycling her old fics.

But aside from that sloppy writing, she's a really terrible person who never owned up to the things she did to other people.

I think this blog post probably sums up my problem with her best.

Andre Like you said, so many people never seem to get it. To call her unoriginal would be an understatement since, which I admit I said who knows how often already, she cannot eve use what she copied/ripped-off. Allegedly she even read Game of Thrones and not even that made her writing better when she ripped it off.
How is that possible? Shouldn't at least a few books have given her a good idea or two?

I agree. Honestly I not only is all of this true but she is also a bully.

Because it was not hers. Everything in mortal instruments is based off of fanfiction characters which were based on characters that were not hers. It's plagiarize no denying it.

She has never gotten one penny from me neither, but regretfully since public library is running on tax payers' money, so it means I'm still paying indirectly for her stuff. =__=

Guy Vestal - Counter Culture Critic I forgot all about that, damn her... She got me in a roundabout ripoff.

Gayathri Venugopal In the world of writing regurgitating your own work differently is still plagiarism. Additionally when you take from your previous work which was a product of plagiarism to begin with. To those who misunderstand that mortal instruments is a likeness of Rowling's harry potter, that is not the case. It is a deja vu of the harry potter fan fic series that "Clare" ( or Is that "Claire ;) wrote - the Draco trilogy. Her work is interesting as fan fics go which is what MI end up being. Just annoying that someone gets to make money from being unoriginal..

She called herself "Claire" in the HP fanfic days and now goes by "Clare".
And trust me, she just regurgitated CoB to write Clockwork Angel and The Infernal Devices trilogy and The Bane Chronicles short stories are not original either. She cannot even use what she herself wrote or keep the description of her characters consistent. A few of them changed skin tone, facial features and backgrounds so far.
