Once Upon A Time - ABC show

I did just read The Annotated Peter Pan (The Centennial Edition) which was edited by Maria Tatar. I know she has a Grimm one available as well. Looks like that will be going on my wishlist. :o)

When they flip through the storybook in one of the first few episodes, you can see a picture of Alice with the caterpillar.
Finally found a picture on the web: http://new.roneyzone.com/blogs/once-u...

Hurry up, holidays. I want my Sunday night obsession back!

Yay!! We were just pondering what we should do on January 1, now I know :D

I haven't brought it, but there is Once Upon a Time: A Collection of Classic Fairy Tales which is a tie in to the tv show. It doesn't have illustations, just the tales (like the Grimms. It looks like if you have a Grimm collection, you have the times).

From the inventive minds of Lost executive producers Adam ..."
I adore this show! The writers do an amazing job of weaving in the fairy tales with the plots of the modern-day characters, and the casting is fantastic. And you know, the costumes and the sets are magical as well. Fairy tales are so rich in psychological meaning, and it's fun to see a television program tackle their complexity and resonance for the 21st century.

I'm with you--I hope he isn't really dead! It's a fairy tale--anything can happen, right?

Cierra - Here's a thread about Grimm: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/6...

Well, there is Dexter and Broadwalk Empire, but that's another topic...

I think the other actors are all great though, especially Rumples and the Queen!
(Oh, and the princes need to be hotter! x_x Taylor Lautner, where are you?!)

I love your remarks that OUAT fills you with "hope for fantasy and whimsy", all the while allowing for "sinister darkness." This is the reason I enjoy it, too--that delicate balance between magic and shadows.
By the way, I think it's really worth it to read the original Grimm's fairy tales--the details are fascinating and full of psychological richness and depth. Also, Marie Louise Von Franz's work The Interpretation of Fairy Tales is an interesting secondary source, offering some compelling insights. Enjoy : )

Warning: Beyond Be Spoilers
I wasn't a fan of "Heart of Darkness," though I do like the fact that they're making Mary Margaret more like her Snow White self - aka willing to break the rules and do the dirty work she needs to.
"Red-Handed" was easily my favourite episode all season. The "twist" at the end with Red Riding Hood was something I'd seen before, but I was still glad they included it, since it definitely removes Once Upon a Time from its Disney-fied origins more. And that is always good. They're definitely making the show unique by beginning to separate the Disney versions from the show versions, thus giving it its own identity. Actually starting to enjoy it some, since the writers seem to have a real idea of what they're doing now - or perhaps they were given more free reign?
Regardless, it's also interesting to see how Regina's hold on Storybrooke is slowly beginning to falter with Emma there. Making Emma sheriff was probably the best move the writers could have done - though I'm still angry they killed off Graham. It's also good to see Regina is starting to recognize the fact that her power is beginning to fail, thus her growing brutality towards the other characters (i.e. killing Kathryn).

I've seen that twist before, most recently in the Nightmares and Fairy Tales Graphic comics series.

No spoilers in case someone taped it to watch later, but well worth my Sunday night TV watching time.
Can't wait for Season Two.
It's so nice to see fairytales on TV/and the big screen again.

Excellent first season! Hypnotic beginning— a little slow in the middle, but the last few episodes and the finale more than made up for the sluggishness of the (few)mediocre episodes. ‘Looking forward to season two.

I just expected better from 'Once', and they didn't deliver in my opinion

I have seen the first two eppys of Copper. It's enjoyable in a slightly eye browing rising way. Griffith is very good, I must say. In fact, she and the man who plays Henry Morehouse (the same actor who played Henry in Bloodties) are the best parts of the show.

I loved the way they wove the beginning into the end. Very nice nicely done. :)"
Agree!
