I am thinking of a classic-Bujold's The Warrior's Apprentice. The first Miles Vorkosigan POV story in the Vorkosigan series...

oh, good one Maggie. been wanting to read that series for a while now. although i thought that the series actually started with Shards of Honour. at least that is how that book is listed.

yup Mark-but Shards of Homor is actually about how Mile's parents met, and their story. Its also a lot harder to find! Most people start where Miles starts...lol

ah! makes sense.

message 8: by Kevin (new)

Kevin Xu (kxu65) | 490 comments I would like to nominate Ringworld, the book that is a lot like the video game, Halo.

message 11: by Aloha (new)

Aloha | 538 comments Ooh, I just noticed The Day of the Triffids won! Yahoo! I don't have to renominate that.

So that leaves Rendezvous with Rama. I could read it on my own, but I love a discussion with like-minded people better.

Jason (darkfiction) | 422 comments I hope I don't make everyone groan with this. LOL

I would like to nominate On Basilisk Station by David Weber. I've been wanting to read this for some time now. I've heard mixed reviews.

the trouble with On Basilisk station is that it is the book of the month over at Beyond Reality....we definitely are NOT copycats here! lol

message 14: by Aloha (new)

Aloha | 538 comments On Basilisk sounds hilarious, Jason!

message 15: by Richard (new)

Richard (thinkingbluecountingtwo) | 235 comments This month I'm pushing Only Forward by Michael Marshall Smith.
It's one of my all time favorites and I've decided it's time for a reread and would love some company along the way.

message 16: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (jennyc89) I would like to nominate The Gods Themselves by Isaac Asimov.

message 17: by Aloha (new)

Aloha | 538 comments I'd read anything by Asimov.

message 18: by Candiss (new)

Candiss (tantara) I will nominate The Child Garden by Geoff Ryman. Even though it won both the Arthur C. Clarke Award and the John W. Campbell Memorial Award and is also included in the SF Masterworks series, surprisingly few people seem to have even heard of it. I've read that it's quite innovative and imaginative.

I believe they're planning to read the entire series, correct?
