I just finished Run Like a Mother and currently reading Stealing Secrets about female spies in the Civil War.
Mat wrote: "I'm just about half way through with the third Ender's Game book, Xenocide. After that, on to Stephen King's new super novel, 11/22/63. It's huge!"11/22/63 is a really addicting book once you start reading it you will not be able to stop

I have started watching Elementary and realized even though I own the complete Sherlock Holmes works, I have never read one of them. So I started The Complete Sherlock Holmes. I say I am about 1/5 of the way through. Not really sure what I was expecting, but so far, it is good.
Has anyone read A Study in Scarlet? It almost seemed to be set in current times. Dr Watson just back from Afganistan from the second gulf war. (view spoiler) Not really sure that would be considered a spoiler, but I guess it could be.

I started to read it but then my desktop went down so I have to get it again. I noticed that too. I think that's why it transferred over to Sherlock TV series so well
Finished reading Everything is Illuminated by: Jonathan Safran Foer. I am currently reading A Cup of Tea by: Amy Ephron and Green is the New Red by Will Potter
Currently finishing up with- 'The Resolution for women' (based off the Courageous movie)
Currently reading
- 'Do hard things' by Alex and Brett Harris
- 'Brandwashed' by Martin Lindtrom
- 'The boy who harnessed the wind' by William Kamkwamba.
The last one has definitely taken me by surprise at how good the author is at story telling. Im only in the 3rd chapter and Im already hooked.
Tami wrote: "I have started watching Elementary and realized even though I own the complete Sherlock Holmes works, I have never read one of them. So I started The Complete Sherlock Holmes. I say I am about 1/5 ..."I've read pretty much every Sherlock Holmes story. Love them! Conan Doyle's hatred for Mormons is pretty obvious in that story, Country of the Saints? (Totally changed his mind later on, he actually spoke in the Salt Lake Tabernacle) Anyway, you should watch BBC's Sherlock. They wrote the series around the original stories and it's amazing how well it translates to modern times, like with Watson having just returned from Afghanistan.
I decided to start The Hobbit, which I haven't read since high school. I don't know whether I'll go see the movie or not, but all the hype surrounding it put me in the mood to go back for a re-read.
Still reading Sherlock. Has anyone else found very little time for reading this last 2 months? It is killing me. I try to read before bed, but am so beat that I usually fall asleep after just a few pages. Ugh! Probably should have posted this in the rants thread. :)
I just finished reading The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera and am currently reading Matched by Ally Condie.
I finally finished The Complete Sherlock Holmes. I started clear back in October. Just haven't had time for reading really.
Started Between Shades of Gray last night. My secret santa gift and already over half way through. Really enjoying it so far.

I was fascinated with anything Holocaust related when I was in 6th and 7th grades and read books I probably was too young for. So far, this one is sad, but not so graphic as some others I have read.

I am reading Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare and James Potter #1 The Hall of Elder's Crossing by Gordon Lippert. I had read the Mortal Instruments books by Clare, and this is the prequel. James Potter is Harry's son and his adventures and is an e-book here on Goodreads for free, as well as a couple of others. They are also approved by J.K. Rowling. Both are goodreads! :-)
I recently finished Green is the new red. Now I am reading Nerds: how dorks, dweebs, techies, and Trekkies can save America. So far it's an interesting book.
Finished Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys (my secret santa gift) and I loved it. Great book. Can't wait for her next one.
Also, no idea what to start next.

Decided on the Anne Rice Vampire Chronicles. Started Interview with the Vampire Friday and almost done. Next will be The Vampire Lestat.
So I watched the movie Interview With a Vampire, and remember parts of the book being in it, but not others. So, am I forgetting the movie (it really has been years) or did it just not follow the book?

Just finished The Great Gatsbyand Passion.Just started The Lightning Thiefand Marked. Both are pretty good so far.
I just finished Bourne (River of Time series) and really enjoyed that, the whole series is great! Now I'm reading Unspoken and loving it so far. I'm participating in the bout of books readathon. Anyone else?
since it is the winter, i have taken up dostoyevsky's "demons". i don't know why, but winter makes me want to read classic tomes. i just started the second part, where it changes from society farce to (what so far appears to be) a sort of game of political intrigue and conspiracy. i don't know... we'll see where this goes. i've been enjoying it so far.

What did you think of Froi?
Carolina wrote: "I finished Les Misérables, and am now reading Gone with the Wind and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince."Should I read Les Mes or is the movie good enough?
The book and the musical are rather different from one another. You'd be better off reading the script for the Broadway musical instead of the book.I'm not saying don't read the book, just don't look at the movie as being an adaptation of the book, it's an adaptation of the musical, which is an adaptation of the book.
Okay. Thank you both. I will try to read the book and script and watch the movie. It does sound good from all of the reviews.
Has anyone read The History of Love? I'm almost done with it and am interested in what other people thought about it. It's quickly turning out to be one of my favorites!
Marie-Ève wrote: "You are going to laugh at it, but I just finished J.D Salinger's Catcher in the Rye. I am reading 6 other books at the moment."I had to read that in school. What did you think of it?

It was a group read back in 2008 so there are threads in the past group reads to go through. I didn't care for the book, but some people really enjoyed it.

Great, thanks!

I only gave it a two star rating, I think I was being generous with my rating.
