Ashley (readerandwriter) The last book I read was Fallen by Lauren Kate. I had to stop reading it though. I had no motivation to finish it. I am now reading "Fallout" by Ellen Hopkins and trying to finish "Evermore" by Alyso Noel.

What did you think of The Clan of the Cave Bear? It's sitting on my shelve and I want to start it, but I'm a bit intimidated by it.

message 2705: by Harminder (new)

Harminder Kailey (noxturnus) @Daisy, It really is a 'goodread'. You'll have to cram through the first two chapters, with those weird names and stuff. But once you jump into those fossilized times, you'll find it interesting.

message 2706: by Nina (new)

Nina (tinyelf) I read a lot of books for younger kids since I am an elementary teacher and I just finished both The Sea of Monsters and Witch Child. They were both really good.
I am hooked on the Sweep series by Cate Tiernan and I just bought books 8, 9, 10, and 11. I haven't had a series hold my interest this much since I read the Twilight series...totally addicted.

message 2707: by Justine (new)

Justine (paperbackheart) I've been reading Infinite Jest for the past few months. I still have a few hundred pages to go. I just don't feel like there's any point to it. I don't dislike it, I'm just not very excited about it I guess.

message 2708: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments I have no time to read anymore it seems, I've been reading the same book for about a month. I'm also listening to the Harry Potter books in the car. I'm on PoA.

message 2709: by Daisy (new)

Daisy | 686 comments I just finished The Book of Love, but I wasn't as excited about it as I was about the first book in the series.. I'm not sure what to read next yet.

message 2710: by Kjerstin (new)

Kjerstin (kjerstinkaye) Just finished The Book of Margery Kempe. I had to read it for my British literature class, and it was pretty difficult to get through.
Next we are reading Morte Darthur by Thomas Malory, but for fun (and for the book group!) I will be reading House of Leaves. I can't wait to start it!!! Too bad there are things like tests that keep us from reading what we want, when we want!

message 2711: by Anika (new)

Anika (anlynn) | 106 comments I really enjoyed Morte Darthur when I read it for class last year! Hope you enjoy it!

Finished Artemis Fowl The Atlantis Complex and started Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel.

message 2713: by Daisy (new)

Daisy | 686 comments Just finished Austenland and really liked it. Made my poor Austen-obsessed heart very happy :)
I'm not sure what I feel like reading next..

Kjerstin (kjerstinkaye) Anika wrote: "I really enjoyed Morte Darthur when I read it for class last year! Hope you enjoy it!"

Thanks! Now I'm not dreading it so much! Books for class aren't usually that great haha

message 2715: by [deleted user] (new)

I finished The Left Hand of Darkness and am currently reading The World According to Garp. Left Hand wasn't too bad. It was a little "cold" - for those who have read no pun intended :). I'm enjoying The World According to Garp.

message 2716: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 308 comments Just Finished Red Glass. Everyone needs to go get a copy and read it. It was Soooo good.

Reading Girl, Stolennext. It's going to be the first book I read for the readathon starting tomorrow!

Hahaha, I get it. That made me smile, even if it was unintentional.

Elise, I love The World According to Garp. It's one of my favorites. Enjoy!

I finished Like Water for Chocolate, and started The Historian. I also just received another goodreads giveaway last night so hopefully I can finish The Historian quickly. Love free books.

message 2720: by Daisy (new)

Daisy | 686 comments I finally caved and started The Book Thief and I so hope I'll love it!

Thanks! Actually borrowing from my suite mate...It's her favorite book/author.

message 2724: by Meg (new)

Meg (aurawn) | 44 comments I just started The Strain by Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan. I'm actually writing about it in my term paper for my Dracula and Vampirism class. I am SO EXCITED about this paper. This class is awesome!

message 2725: by Leanna (new)

Leanna (leannerd) | 46 comments I'm currently reading "Native Son" by Richard Wright, which is pretty great. I'm reading that for my African American Autobiographies and Fiction class...we just finished his autobiography "Black Boy" and it was definitely my favorite of what we've read in that class thus far. I'm loving Wright's style.

I am also reading Ford Madox Ford's "The Good Soldier: A Tale of Passion" for my Modern British Novels class. It's...interesting. It's kind of hard to get into, but most modernist literature is. For me, anyway.

I am currently waiting on another book to get to my college from I-Share, "Manchild in the Promised Land" by Claude Brown, which I have to read and present to the class.

Sadly, I have no time to read anything for myself...I am waiting anxiously for Christmas break with a large pile of fun books to read! :)

message 2726: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments I'm still reading Mistborn: The Final Empire, really enjoying it! And I'm on the fourth Harry Potter book.

message 2727: by Kayla (new)

Kayla | 604 comments I am reading The Vanishing of Katharina Linden and I'm almost done with it. I'm hoping I can finish it today or tomorrow at the latest. And I began reading The Forest of Hands and Teeth last night. I usually don't read two books at the same time, but I just couldn't wait to start The Forest. I'm enjoying it so far.

message 2728: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten I'm reading The Weather of the Future and really liking it. Well the first part was boring and straight out of a freshman enviro sci class, but the second half is a bunch of case studies and projections around the planet of what will happen in the future to those regions if global climate change continues at its present pace.
The second half is much more readable.

message 2729: by Rayna (new)

Rayna (Poindextrix) (poindextrix) | 59 comments This semester is kicking my butt as well. As a senior comp. lit. major I'm doing tons of reading, but a lot of my 'fun books' have been postponed for now. Luckily, I do get to read some good books for my classes. I just finished Fathers and Sons and I have a bunch of other books that I need to finish in the near future for my classes.

message 2730: by Meagan (new)

Meagan (mmbell) I'm reading The Godfather. I've never seen the movie, so I don't know where it's headed, but so far I love it.

message 2731: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker Meagan, I LOVED The Godfather! I elected to read it and write a paper over it for a crime fiction class. You're probably going to start craving Italian food soon, if you haven't already.

message 2732: by Alicia (new)

Alicia (amazingact21) I am finally getting around to reading The Hunger Games. I have had it on tbr list for awhile, I just kept finding other books to read first.

message 2733: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Alicia, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

message 2734: by Kelly A. (new)

Kelly A. | 499 comments I am about 100 pages into The Crimson Petal and the White. That's not even 1/9th of the way through! I'm trying to find a smaller book that I can actually fit in my purse and take with me places.

I am almost finished with The Historian and I am loving it. Hopefully can finish tonight so I can start my latest goodreads giveaways win, Bound.

message 2736: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments Oooh, A Doll's House. That's an interesting read.

message 2737: by Tami (new)

Tami | 3103 comments Mod
A Doll's House was what I wrote my essay on for the AP English final. I found out later that it was the highest score of the state. :) And now, sadly, I remember very little of it. May have to reread.

message 2738: by Daniel (new)

Daniel Clausen Right now I'm in the middle of reading a book called "Imposing Wilderness" It's about national parks in Underdeveloped countries. How they came to being and what they mean for the countries that adopt them. The field work though is based in Tanzania. It's written by a professor of mine. So far, it's an awesome read.

I picked up after I ditched the Pilot's Wife. Too much melodrama.

message 2739: by Meagan (new)

Meagan (mmbell) I just finished reading The Godfather. It was beyond incredible and I'd recommend it to anyone. I'd never seen the movie, so I really enjoyed the plot.

I'm getting ready to read Eating Animals given to me by my suitemate, who is trying to convert me to vegetarianism.

message 2740: by Meagan (new)

Meagan (mmbell) Tami wrote: "I am almost finished with The Historian and I am loving it. Hopefully can finish tonight so I can start my latest goodreads giveaways win, Bound."

I bought a Spanish language copy of The Historian, and it's one that I can't wait to read it!

message 2741: by Heather (new)

Heather (andshewontsleep) I just finished reading Frankenstein and am about to go get my copy of House of Leaves that's on hold at the library. I've been looking forward to reading this for awhile now, so I'm very excited to get my hands on a copy just in time for Halloween and our group discussion!

message 2742: by Heather (new)

Heather (andshewontsleep) Carolina, I thought Frankenstein was okay. It starts out kind of slow which made it a little difficult to get into, but I loved the language. It was definitely appropriate to read during this time of year.

message 2743: by Tami (new)

Tami | 3103 comments Mod
Finished The Historian, great book. There was about 10 pages they could have left out, but what came before and after more than made up for it. Started Bound by Antonya Nelson last night. Not far enough to give an opinion yet.

message 2744: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments Just finished rereading the 4th Harry Potter book and moved onto the 5th.

Still reading Mistborn, so good!

message 2745: by Anika (new)

Anika (anlynn) | 106 comments finished Catching Fire last night, moving onto Mockingjay. I can't wait to finish so I can go into those dang discussions and talk about it. Right now I'm too afraid even to click on the link for fear of spoilers!

I've also been reading a lot for my classes lately. The Iliad was really good, better than I expected and better than the Odyssey in my opinion. I read Persuasion for the second time. And in my English lit class, we've been reading poetry mainly. I found Keats to be so inspiring, one of my new favorite poets!

message 2746: by Emily (new)

Emily O (readingwhilefemale) | 487 comments I just finished Mockingjay. I reviewed the entire series on my blog. I gave the series as a whole 3 stars, but I also put up reviews and ratings for the books individually.

message 2747: by Anika (new)

Anika (anlynn) | 106 comments Emily- Does your review have spoilers?? If not, I'll have to read it!

message 2748: by Emily (new)

Emily O (readingwhilefemale) | 487 comments Anika wrote: "Emily- Does your review have spoilers?? If not, I'll have to read it!"

I have two very clearly marked spoilers and a few vague references along the lines of "The thing that happened to Peeta was interesting." I think it's probably pretty safe.

message 2749: by Anika (new)

Anika (anlynn) | 106 comments That kinda makes me nervous... lol. Maybe I'll hold out until I finish, which shouldn't be too long. It'll be just as interesting to read what you have to say AFTER I finish since I haven't read any reviews at all yet (once again, for fear of spoilers). I'm anxious to hear other people's opinions though, and to discuss it with others!

message 2750: by Janet (new)

Janet I finished A Reliable Wife. It was ok. The lady that told me to read it says it has a lot of twists...I didn't really think it did. I started The Shining. It's creepy but not as creepy as I thought. We'll see!!
