The movie is pretty good, too. I think the casting was excellent, and overall it was a pretty good depiction of the book. Naturally, some things were different, and the book was better, but I would say it's worth seeing all the same.

I'm currently reading Retail Hell How I Sold My Soul to the Store Confessions of a Tortured Sales Associate ... my friend went to a book show and the author was there and she saw this book and HAD to get it for me! I'm really looking forward to a good laugh about the hell that is retail! :)

I just started Sarah's Key on a recommendation from my mom.. so far it's really good. I've also been reading Kafka on the Shore which is my first Murakami. I love his style.

Heather,
I'm only on page 3 right now and I've laughed about 10 times and I keep thinking.."oh my gosh..this is exactly what it's like for me!"
Let's hope it keeps going like this!
And another funny thing..when I opened the book..I didn't realize my friend had the author sign in and it says. " jamie..see you in hell!" -freeman
I love this guy!

I read Evermore a few weeks ago... You'll have to tell me what you think of it.

Is The Dark is Rising pretty good? I saw the movie and thought it was pretty lame, although I could sense there was a lot of potential behind the plot and the characters. (I knew it had to be an adaptation of a book)

bahah..I would definitely recommend reading it. It's a good laugh that anyone working retail can understand. I mean..it's not going to be the best book you've ever read..but it makes me laugh and realize I'm not the only one in HELL! :)

You definitely should read it. I really liked it. One of the things I most appreciated about it that was it defied my expectations.
Right now I'm reading Public Enemies America's Greatest Crime Wave and the Birth of the FBI, 1933-34, mostly for pleasure although it's helping me on my thesis, and The Awakening and Cheap Amusements Working Women and Leisure in Turn-of-the-Century New York are for class. I'm really enjoying The Awakening; it's pretty sexy.

Finished Retail Hell How I Sold My Soul to the Store Confessions of a Tortured Sales Associate a few days ago and now on to A Model Summer

Just finished A Model Summer. It was alright. I'm a moron and thought it was actually an autobiography of Paulina but actually it's just a novel that she wrote. It was interesting because I bet she has such insight into the modeling world that it was probably a pretty true depiction as far as the modeling world goes in fiction but it was very fluffy reading. I have to give Paulina credit..she's not only gorgeous but she's smart too!
Now I'm starting The Mirror based on a recommendation from a friend.

I did! I liekd the way Plath ended the novel. I thought it was very interesting onfthe whole.

I liked it at first, but then it got way too cheesy, and I couldn't stand all the mush about god and souls and whatever. I'm not religious at all, and I found myself rolling my eyes a lot at the attempts for profound meaning. I was expecting great things, too, but now I have another book to swap on paperbackswap for something decent lol.
Just finished Artemis Fowl: Time Paradox and started (and almost finished) Catching Fire the next book following The Hunger Games.

Wow! Seems like everyone is reading The Hunger Games. I was so close to buying it the other day. Perhaps I should!
You really should Jamie. Such a good book. Oh, and so is Catching Fire the second one. Only have about 50 pages left, and I don't want to finish it, since the final one won't be out for another year! I hate reading series without all them being out, but I hate reading a good series and there not being any more coming. Catch 22!

Tahleen..I've hit a rut lately too! I was all pumped to read alot and then I got busy and then I've been too tired to read when I get home! It's horrible!

Finished Catching Fire. Why does the next book have to be so far away?! :) Great book, especially considering I usually don't care for the second in the series as much as the first, but this one bucked the trend.

I haven't seen the movie, but I really liked the book. It can be a bit shocking/disturbing in some parts, but he's a great storyteller. Definitely a memorable read.
