Not yet, but they are both on my wish list. I have beens "saved" from buying them because the bookstore never has them in when I go in. :) One day I will probably break down and order them. There are 2 according to Long Stones Throw. Have you read them?

Just checked the list and there are several books written by Malachy. Hmm, might be in trouble here.

Anna Shumaker (annashu) I read A Monk Swimming A Memoir many years ago and it wasn't bad but I prefer Frank. It was interesting seeing another persons perspective of basically the same events.

message 704: by Anna (new)

Anna Shumaker (annashu) Gave up on Dubliners after forcing myself through 3 stories. I may have just been in the wrong state of mind but they seemed so tedious and pointless. I'm sure if I were feeling analytical I could get some great life altering meaning from them but not today. Started In the Woods and am over halfway through. So far I'm really enjoying it, I would still be reading except it was started to get really good and I figured I should stop before I was up all night.

Anna (heyannahey) | 67 comments In the Woods is fantastic. I read it over the summer last year, and I finished the whole thing in about a day, I just couldn't put it down. I hear there's a sequel, but I'm not sure what it's called.
Does anybody know?

The sequel is The Likeness A Novel
I'm glad to hear that you guys enjoyed it. I read it fairly quickly, but was quite disappointed with the ending. I have The Likeness sitting on my shelf, but I can't bring myself to read it quite yet, in case the end of it is as disappointing to me as In The Woods was.

message 707: by Anna (new)

Anna (heyannahey) | 67 comments I was disappointed with the ending, too.
I wonder if The Likeness picks up where that one leaves off...? I'll have to buy a copy.

message 708: by Abby (new)

Abby | 1 comments I just finished Wuthering Heights and then someone recommended My Sister's Keeper to me. It was amazing! I read it in less than three days. I would recommend it to everyone. Now I've started Dedication by the girls who wrote Nanny Diaries. Lolita's next on the list.

message 709: by Anna (new)

Anna (heyannahey) | 67 comments I really loved Nanny Diaries. I'll have to be Dedication on my TBR list.

I'm reading Lolita right now. The writing is fantastic..I'm just having a hard time stomaching it.

message 711: by Tahleen (new)

Tahleen I was disappointed with the ending of In the Woods too. The sequel is about Cassie, but I don't think it's quite a continuation.

message 712: by Lianne (new)

Lianne (eclecticreading) | 71 comments I finished reading Garth Nix's Sabriel yesterday so I've now moved on to the next book in the trilogy, Lirael =)

Well, that may be infuriating.
***SPOILER***

I was really hoping that the mystery of Adam's childhood would be solved, and I was so frustrated when it wasn't in In The Woods

I am currently reading Lover Avenged, the newly released 7th book of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, and I Capture the Castle.

I am greatly enjoying both.

Ooops! I fixed the original post.
I was just checking in a few more minutes before class, and obviously wasn't thinking...lol

I've seen this alot lately. I might have to pick it up!

message 720: by Anna (new)

Anna Shumaker (annashu) I just finished Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight An African Childhood and loved it. It is one of my favorites and I hadn't really planned on reading it but once I started I had to finish. Also started B Is for Beer, Tom Robbins new book and it is really good so far. It is written as a children's story so it doesn't have any of his over the top sexual references but it still has great imagery and metaphors, and it is about beer so how could that be bad .

message 721: by Tahleen (new)

Tahleen Haha nice fix Allison :) I just didn't want people to read it and be like "...wh- what??"

On a side note, it is finals week and I have not been able to finish or start anything at all. So I have nothing more to contribute here. :P

I've heard not to read them too closely together. So perhaps read it after you've read a few others..at least this is what the consensus is. I think that is why I've chosen to wait so long. I want to appreciate his style in two separate instances..far apart from each other.

I'm reading Lolita right now. I'm having a hard time getting through it. The writing is fantastic..it is more just the subject matter.

message 730: by Michelle Kay (new)

Michelle Kay (dinosaur) | 56 comments hopefully i'll get through it then. i have a tough times with books that the subject doesnt intrigue me. i plan on starting the book tomorrow.

message 731: by Jess (new)

Jess I just finished When You Are Engulfed in Flames by David Sedaris. I think you all read this for the monthly challenge, at least from what I can tell. I have mixed feelings about the book since I love Sedaris' older books like Naked and Me Talk Pretty One Day. I just started Animal, Vegetable, Miracle A Year of Food Life, which seems pretty good so far.

message 732: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker 40 more pages left of The Good Earth. I'm debating finishing it this morning instead of packing/cramming for my American Lit test. I could always wait until my break before my French test. It's killing me! I want to read it and finish...

message 733: by Tahleen (new)

Tahleen Since I'm DONE, I have been able to read a lot more of Sunshine. I think I have about 100 pages left (out of about 400). But the question is, should I read or exercise?

message 734: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker I'd say take a day or two to relax and read. Get that monkey off of your back, so to speak.

message 735: by Lianne (new)

Lianne (eclecticreading) | 71 comments I've started reading Joseph Keller's Catch-22 but I'm aldo looking at my shelf and trying to figure out what book to read alongside of it xD

message 736: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker I love Catch-22 but it's definitely not for everyone. I hope you enjoy it though.

message 737: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker I just finished The Good Earth. It is making me think about my ambitions and the consequences and benefits of those ambitions.

message 738: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (readerandwriter) I finished reading "Untamed" last night. "I am now reading "Hunted".

message 739: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker Just started Love in the Time of Cholera for the 84,000th time. I hope I'll be able to finish this time.

message 740: by Tahleen (new)

Tahleen FINALLY finished Sunshine! If you like vampire novels you HAVE to read this. I haven't felt this way about a vamp books since I read Interview with a Vampire.

message 741: by Kimberly (new)

"Interview with a Vampire" is next on my list! My friend really enjoyed it so she's letting me borrow her copy. I about fell out of my chair when my rather conservative Aunt told me that she not only enjoyed that book, but that she owned the entire series. lol.

Crown Duel and Court Duel were my favorite books for the longest time. Oh my goodness. I need to find a copy of those books right away.

message 744: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 143 comments I'm currently reading Mansfield Park & I just started Slaughterhouse Five as it's been on my shelf for a while and I saw that it is our group read.

message 745: by Jessika (new)

Jessika Hoover (jessalittlebooknerd) Li--I've just read Catch-22 this past semester...I hope you enjoy it! If you like satire (like I do), you'll find it hilarious!

I hope everyone is enjoying Slaughterhouse Five--I had to read that last year for a class, and I really liked it. It was a perfect introduction to Vonnegut!

Right now, I'm reading Stephen King's Just After Sunset, which is the most recent collection of short stories he has published. I love it so far--just like sinking back into a big, comfy chair! :)

message 746: by Justine (new)

Justine (paperbackheart) I just finished Firefly Lane. I have no idea what I'm going to start next - maybe I should pick up one of the books I put down in December.

message 747: by Tahleen (new)

Tahleen Kimberly, that's awesome haha. It is very erotic, but there is no sex or sexually explicit anything. It just gives you a feeling... I really enjoyed Interview with a Vampire, but I'm scared to read the other books in the series! Haha I'm afraid they'll get worse, some reviews have given me that impression.

message 748: by Lynnie (new)

Lynnie I read God Bless You, Dr. Kevorkian by Kurt Vonnegut today. It's really funny and thought provoking. Love that Vonnegut! Afterwards, I started on Slaughterhouse Five, finally!

Justine, how did you like Firefly Lane? I read the first chapter or so online once and it seemed pretty good.

message 750: by Justine (new)

Justine (paperbackheart) Jess, it was pretty good. Not great or very exciting - I think I've read three other books almost exactly like this.
