Challenge:
Read six (6) books from my TBR mountain before one (1) new book can be purchased (freebies DON'T count! =D). That’s a 6:1 ratio (which will be a big help since I don’t have room for any more books on any of my shelves).

Some Notes
1. Challenge begins on Aug 1
2. The upcoming purchase of Storm's Heart (releasing on Aug 2) is excepted from the rules (gives Loosheesh a high five) and I we will be discussing it in a Buddy Read here: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/6...
3. I promise to disclose when I fall off the wagon mountain!
4. I read a lot of fantasy (all sub genres), sci-fi, romances (almost all sub genres) and erotica (aka SMUT). If you feel you might get offended by the smut, please overlook those posts.
5. I review ebooks for a blog site. Those books are not on any of my TBR lists but they will count toward a free book credit.
6. Library books are valid for use on a TBR book that is not owned.
7. One reward point equals one book

Starting Point: 135 Bought & Unread Books
# of Challenge Books Read To Date: 6
# of Reward Points Earned To Date: 1
# of Reward Points Used To Date: 0

Books Read Since Start of Challenge:
#1 - Hounded
#2 - Lost Prince
#3 - Storm's Heart
#4 - Long Hard Ride (DNF'd)
#5 - The Duke And I
#6 - The Warded Man

Converted Reward Points:
#1 –

Thank you, Loosheesh for such a great challenge format. :)

Well...technically I finished these books up this weekend...but since they were TBR owned I figured they should count, lol!

Lost Prince was a pretty bad ARC so... I would have passed if I could and I had to force myself to read it.

I also "restarted" myself. As soon as I put up the challenge I went to Borders and came out with 7 books. O_o Not only did that require a restart but my bookshelves are packed and groaning. I have GOT to stop buying DTBs until we move. It's imperative now.

My husband has been looking forward to this challenge with baited breath, lol. He wants to hold me to reading 40 books before I buy anymore, lol. I told him that wasn't going to happen. :-)

I pre-ordered Storm's Heart this morning, too! I couldn't wait a minute more. :D I'm sad I won't get my copy til the 4th but I'll live.

Oww! here's a cool, wet rag for that handprint on your face :P"

I've been trying to get Books A Million on the phone since 9am. I want to see if they have copies of Serpent's Kiss. I figure, I'd planned to buy my mom a copy anyway so... :-D

YES!!! Score! They have a copy at books a million!

Yeah, I meant Storm's Heart. :)

Now, should I cancel my Amazon order? I'm thinking I shall... This way I don't get yelled at by my husband for having two copies of the same book...he wont understand my need. :D

message 6: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, Resident Book Pusher (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 3289 comments Dang. They just sent me an email that they couldn't cancel. I'll see what happens when it gets here.

message 7: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, Resident Book Pusher (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 3289 comments How horrible am I? I just ran up to BAM and bought a copy. :-D

They had to dig around in a box in the back to get it for me. :-D

*happy dance*

Wow, you're going hard. :) I've been including the reading of the free books...just not the buying of the free books.

*I'm so horrible*

I have a problem. Just yesterday I had to force myself away from spending my book credit on a The Cat Who Omnibus. Sad, right? lol!

message 17: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, Resident Book Pusher (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 3289 comments I'm doing pretty good! I've only bought Storm's Heart this month.

But like you said it's only 1 week in.

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 3289 comments Ok, it's time for me to come clean.

I went to a book festival on Friday. :-O

I bought like 30 books! I haven't even managed to catalog them all, I just went crazy. I did manage to get a copy (and autograph!) of Sarah Wendel from Smart Bitches, Trashy Books newest book: Everything I Know about Love I Learned from Romance Novels

message 25: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, Resident Book Pusher (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 3289 comments They gave us bags, lol. I parked really close and it was an outdoor fair. It rained buckets that day, by the way. :-(

Some people gave us one bag just because they were trying to get rid of stuff and go home. I got two more bags by buying a lot at a church book sale. :) Plus we kept going back to the car to dump books :)

message 26: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, Resident Book Pusher (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 3289 comments Other than that I've been doing really really well. I just lost it and went insane. :)

I have found that the challenge has really made me stop and think (a lot more).

message 27: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, Resident Book Pusher (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 3289 comments My challenge is mired in mud, too! LOL!

I bought like 30+ books at that book fair I went too, lol. I stopped counting since then cause I don't know where I am! I have been good about buying books...I don't think I've bought any since...

...with freebies not counting!...

...September? I think September! :-D

*pats self on back.* I've been very good.

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 3289 comments Loosheesh wrote: "Yay, we've been quite good! And I feel so much better when I come across a freebie I once thought of buying - isn't that like finding gold? Best feeling =D"

That is like the bestest feeling ever.

message 29: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, Resident Book Pusher (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 3289 comments Ok, so today I reaped what I sowed on Monday:

Bet Me (HB!)
Spectyr MMPB
Phoenix and Ashes (hb!)

and all used! ;-)

Plus I bought a copy of the 1980's BBC movies of the Chronicles of Narnia. I really hope I got the right ones...otherwise it's getting gifted.

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 3289 comments <.<

I bought 4 new books...

Tales of the Witch World 3

message 32: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, Resident Book Pusher (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 3289 comments Obviously I am broken. I am having a very hard time not buying books.

It's like Christa said: "My acquisition of books is separate from my reading them."

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

LOL!!

message 34: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, Resident Book Pusher (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 3289 comments Gosh. I'm horrible at this! I've even stopped counting challenge points...

So I bought:

Anyone But You
Maybe This Time
Manhunting

I don't know what it is...but I'm enjoying her books. Even the ones I'm not the biggest fan of - they're still good enough that I'm aching when waiting for a new set to come in the mail.

I hope yours come soon!

message 36: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, Resident Book Pusher (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 3289 comments Wow. So, at first I was super PO'd about the Kobo coupons due to Agency6. I was about to post them...when I discovered Courtney Milan! HQN allows discounts! whhoooo hooooo!

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 3289 comments Well...

...I think I'm stocking up for kids or winter or an economic meltdown or something, lol.

I'm like the book edition of that new TV show Doomsday Preppers: http://channel.nationalgeographic.com...

I bought:

Unclaimed
Unraveled
Just One of the Guys
Instant Attraction
Nightlife

I blame MR for this one! All those coupon codes being tossed around???!

message 38: by [deleted user] (new)

LOL! I've been preparing for the ebookocalypse from day one. At least, that's my best excuse for the number of unread books I have in calibre. :-)

I'm going to try to be good for now on!

message 42: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, Resident Book Pusher (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 3289 comments Wow! I ran into a sale. *face palm* I need to stay away from Dear Author!

BUT I finally picked up:

Space Junque $1.49
Spiderwork $2.99
and the final book:
Bleeder $3.99

I have to admit I wasn't looking and didn't realize that Spiderwork was $2.99 and not $1.49! but I've been meaning to buy them since the whole thing with the cover came out...

Not sure how I missed this.

Strangely enough, LK said some rather insensitive things on Dear Author today in the comments section of this thread: http://dearauthor.com/features/essays...

For a second I was thinking DAMN IT! Now I don't want to read her but I already bought the books.

But I already bought the books...so read them I shall.

But I want to finish my current crop of books (or decide if I will DNF them).

message 45: by [deleted user] (new)

Wow. I won't be reading her. (But if I'd already bought the books I'd probably give them a shot because the money's already been spent.)

But... wow.

message 47: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, Resident Book Pusher (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 3289 comments Ok, I bought 16 books in March (I mean actual $$ not freebies). *face palm* I need to SLOW DOWN...especially since I bought 2 in April already. O_o

So, the rest of April is NO BOOK PURCHASE month. *fingers crossed*

message 48: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, Resident Book Pusher (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 3289 comments Loosheesh wrote: "I know the feeling :-(

I felt like I was going out of control in March (though I bought just about the same number of ebooks in January and February - go figure!). I've bought two so far for April and I have some in the wishlist that are just begging me to buy them ... "

That's exactly what happened to me! That plus a library sale...

But I really have to stop buying. I'm up to 184 unread books...but that's including some freebies...

message 49: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, Resident Book Pusher (last edited Apr 26, 2012 08:56AM) (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 3289 comments I did really well and I've only bought 3 more books this month (not counting freebies)!!!

Goblin Quest - I've wanted to read Jim C. Hines for a while now...and I had to track down a copy. It doesn't seem to still be in print.

Tangled Leashes - I LOVE this series. :-D and this was just released...

The Cinderella Deal - Because I obviously have a Jennifer Crusie issue...

message 50: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, Resident Book Pusher (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 3289 comments Oh no!! That just is so horrible! I buy a lot form BWB (via amazon) so I wonder what happened? :(
