A girl is chosen to be one of the four queens of a faraway land; where she must pray, memorize silly rules, wear ridiculous dresses, and wear paint on her face. She is taught to never show emotion because she is one of the four queens. She is ordered to go and wed a prince, who is the complete opposite of her. She makes him a paper bird, which is her symbol, but he does not recognize the significance and tears it up. He thinks it's crazy to let women rule, he is full of fun, and adventure, and does not understand her at all. They go riding one day, and both are kidnapped, by people who want to create a war between the two lands. They of course fall in love, and i don't really remember the plot, but they are on a boat a lot of the time. I read this book about a year ago, and I remember I loved it, but just can't remember it.
