What Cozy Did You Just Finish Reading??? (Archive)

I think I actually like the Mystery Shopper series better now. Used to be the other way around, but the last Dead-End Job one I read was a bit "out there".
Zipped through
today. Quick, fun, light read perfect for a slow afternoon during the holiday season.
I just finished Chili Con Corpses; not bad for something I picked up as a Kindle freebie, but I didn't love it.
Picked up a couple of older books and just finished Death Splits a Hair: A Judge Jackson Crain Mystery. Lots of fun! But I love stories set in Texas!
Robin wrote: "I just finished The Weed that Strings the Hangman's Bag. It is one in a series of Flavia de Luce Series by Alan Bradley. I liked two of his three books so far."Love this series the best!!
I just finished Ghost in Trouble by Carolyn Hart, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Her character, Bailey Ruth, was a lot of fun. This was the first I've read in this particular series.
Just ripped through
. Well, I really liked it. It's exactly what I expect from the Stephanie Plum series. Laugh out loud moments, lots of mayhem and a few heart melting moments. I'm not sure I ever want Stephanie to choose between Morelli and Ranger - Evanovich does what almost no author has been able to do for me: make me enjoy the love triangle. I look forward to the next one.
Finished
To Catch a Leaf by Kate Collins. Really good addition to the series. I thought I knew 'who-done-it' but I was wrong.
I finished
...3*s...this was a re-read for me but it had been a long time still working my way thru this series. I love these books.
I finished
and recommend it, good characters, interesting plot, Victorian details, suspense and romance.
Jennifer E. wrote: "Stayed up WAY too late last night finishing
by Earlene Fowler. A great story."I LOVE this one!! My favorite in the series!
Holly Blues
I took a break from Albert because the books were becoming repetitious. This one was pretty good--she brought back The Whiz, sort of. Still don't like the chapter headings telling you that McQuaid is the subject--I can figure that out for myself by the setting. Glad she's calling Sheila by her name more often--not fond of her nickname and would probably have a fit if anyone called me that to my face.

I like this series but I agree about the doormat thing with Sophie -- it drives me batty.
This morning I finished reading
by Laura Levine. She is so funny! This was one of the best of her books, but each one is hysterical so you can't go wrong with any of them.
Kaye wrote: "Just finished

Glad you enjoyed it! I also loved the first in the series and have the second one waiting to go....
Finished Flowerbed of State yesterday. It was ok. I'll read the second to see where the series is headed.

Very enjoyable and cute. Some of the antics, especially at the end, were a tad over the top even for my taste. I didn't like it quite as much as the first two ..."
This is a new series. Did you mean her other series - the cupcake mysteries?
Finished
. Liked it a lot. Main character has "attitude" and the story was very good. Looking forward to the next one.
Finished The Diva Cooks a Goose today and The Diva Paints the Town last week. Both good mysteries. Caught up on the Diva series since I read The Diva Haunts the House for Halloween.
Just finished Haunting Jordan and Ghost Ship, both by P.J. Alderman and really enjoyed both of them. The setting is a small town in the Pacific Northwest, and there are related parallel mysteries occurring, one in the present time, and one in the 1890's. The protagonist is a psychologist, initially thought to have murdered her ex-husband, who moves into a Victorian home in Port Chatham, which is already inhabited by two ghost sisters. Not a fluffy read, there are some dark issues dealt with, but I'm really looking forward to her next book. Also read Cleo Coyle's On What Grounds. It was okay, and I will give the next book in the series a try. It's about a woman in New York City who manages, and is part owner of, a coffeehouse. Her ex-husband is an equal owner and provides the conflict factor.
I just finished
A Christmas Homecoming. I always enjoy the isolated house mystery. In this case a small company of actors is snowed in. I enjoyed it, it is a quick read.
I just finished The Thirteen Problems by Agatha Christie. It was good, but I still prefer Hercule Poirot!
Wrapped up
last night. A great read and there was a line that had me laughing out loud at one point.
Dru wrote: "I read Double-Booked for Death

Finished
. A couple of continuity errors that drove me batty in this book, but the story was still excellent!
Jennifer E. wrote: "Finished

Oh, the ending had me breathless!!!!!! I totally understood why she ended it when she did, but still, I would sort of have like to have known Gabe's reaction. :)Just tore through Broken Dishes. First one in the series I didn't love. Didn't dislike it, just only liked it. Three stars.

I liked the ending also. Very choked up. This is one of my favorite series.
I finished reading A Red Herring Without Mustard. I enjoyed the mystery and as always remain appalled at how Flavia is treated by her sisters.

I ordered her first in the Cupcake mystery, if i like her writing i will look for this one as well!

Last night I finished
and gave it three stars. Felt a bit flat to me but it's a first, so I'll look for the next book. And since I'm stuck at work waiting for the slowest download EVER, I've just zipped through 2 short-stories:
and
- both of which I found to be excellent!
i have just finished
by Alice Kimberlyi loved this book and the characters work brilliently together i cant wait to get the next one lol
Just finished B is for Burglar. It has been awhile since I have read "A", but have wanted to pick up and move forward with this series.
I've just finished Trick or Treat Murder
by Leslie Meier. This one was even better than book 1 & 2 ! Loved this one.
Just finished the audiobook of
. Kept thinking of Hugh Grant as a perfect Peter Wimsey. This was my first Dorothy Sayers. Will definitely read/listen to more!
J.J. wrote: "Just finished the audiobook of

I just finished
Tempest in the Tea Leaves, which was okay...not sure if I will continue with the series. Around the same time, I also finished
Night of the Living Deed, which I liked well enough to seek out book #2 to add to my TBR.

that's good to know. I am working up to that book. Finished High Heels are Murder. I like all of Elaine Viets books so far. Which series do you like best? The mystery shopper or dead-end job?
