that's good to know. I am working up to that book. Finished High Heels are Murder. I like all of Elaine Viets books so far. Which series do you like best? The mystery shopper or dead-end job?

I think I actually like the Mystery Shopper series better now. Used to be the other way around, but the last Dead-End Job one I read was a bit "out there".

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Zipped through Deck the Halls (Regan Reilly Mysteries, #5) by Mary Higgins Clark today. Quick, fun, light read perfect for a slow afternoon during the holiday season.

message 3654: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Cotterill (rachelcotterill) I just finished Chili Con Corpses; not bad for something I picked up as a Kindle freebie, but I didn't love it.

Rosemary | 78 comments I just finished Scotched Scotched by Kaitlyn Dunnett It was cute.

message 3656: by Michele (new)

Michele Picked up a couple of older books and just finished Death Splits a Hair: A Judge Jackson Crain Mystery. Lots of fun! But I love stories set in Texas!

Love this series the best!!

message 3658: by Marja (new)

Marja McGraw (marja1) | 994 comments I just finished Ghost in Trouble by Carolyn Hart, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Her character, Bailey Ruth, was a lot of fun. This was the first I've read in this particular series. Ghost in Trouble (Bailey Ruth, #3) by Carolyn Hart

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Just ripped through Explosive Eighteen (Stephanie Plum, #18) by Janet Evanovich . Well, I really liked it. It's exactly what I expect from the Stephanie Plum series. Laugh out loud moments, lots of mayhem and a few heart melting moments. I'm not sure I ever want Stephanie to choose between Morelli and Ranger - Evanovich does what almost no author has been able to do for me: make me enjoy the love triangle. I look forward to the next one.

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 217 comments I finished Murder in Moscow (Murder, She Wrote, #10) by Jessica Fletcher ...3*s...this was a re-read for me but it had been a long time still working my way thru this series. I love these books.

Ariel (sevenmoonlight) | 138 comments I finished Uneasy Spirits (A Victorian San Francisco Mystery #2) by M. Louisa Locke and recommend it, good characters, interesting plot, Victorian details, suspense and romance.

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Stayed up WAY too late last night finishing Mariner's Compass (Benni Harper Mysteries #6) by Earlene Fowler by Earlene Fowler. A great story.

I LOVE this one!! My favorite in the series!

Katherine Holly Blues Holly Blues (China Bayles, #18) by Susan Wittig Albert

I took a break from Albert because the books were becoming repetitious. This one was pretty good--she brought back The Whiz, sort of. Still don't like the chapter headings telling you that McQuaid is the subject--I can figure that out for myself by the setting. Glad she's calling Sheila by her name more often--not fond of her nickname and would probably have a fit if anyone called me that to my face.

I like this series but I agree about the doormat thing with Sophie -- it drives me batty.

Linda This morning I finished reading Killer Blonde (A Jaine Austen Mystery, #3) by Laura Levine by Laura Levine. She is so funny! This was one of the best of her books, but each one is hysterical so you can't go wrong with any of them.

Naomi (tribalcat) | 307 comments Just finished Haunting Jordan and Ghost Ship, both by P.J. Alderman and really enjoyed both of them. The setting is a small town in the Pacific Northwest, and there are related parallel mysteries occurring, one in the present time, and one in the 1890's. The protagonist is a psychologist, initially thought to have murdered her ex-husband, who moves into a Victorian home in Port Chatham, which is already inhabited by two ghost sisters. Not a fluffy read, there are some dark issues dealt with, but I'm really looking forward to her next book.

Also read Cleo Coyle's On What Grounds. It was okay, and I will give the next book in the series a try. It's about a woman in New York City who manages, and is part owner of, a coffeehouse. Her ex-husband is an equal owner and provides the conflict factor.

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Finished Sunshine and Shadow (A Benni Harper Mystery #10) by Earlene Fowler . A couple of continuity errors that drove me batty in this book, but the story was still excellent!

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Oh, the ending had me breathless!!!!!! I totally understood why she ended it when she did, but still, I would sort of have like to have known Gabe's reaction. :)

Just tore through Broken Dishes. First one in the series I didn't love. Didn't dislike it, just only liked it. Three stars.

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Last night I finished Double-Booked for Death (Black Cat Bookshop Mystery #1) by Ali Brandon and gave it three stars. Felt a bit flat to me but it's a first, so I'll look for the next book.

Around the same time, I also finished Night of the Living Deed (Haunted Guesthouse Mystery #1) by E.J. Copperman Night of the Living Deed, which I liked well enough to seek out book #2 to add to my TBR.
