I liked it too and the sequel as well.

I'm looking forward to reading this one. I really enjoyed the first in this series! Glad to hear you liked it.

Hannah (hanjae) | 82 comments Just finished Murder on the Lusitania (George Porter Dillman & Genevieve Masefield, #1) by Conrad Allen . Really liked it! I was a Titanic fanatic back in the day and was a huge fan of the luxury liner era in general, so a mystery set on one is the cherry on top.

I liked this one, too. New one due out in 2 weeks!

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Spent a leisurely day reading The Sauvignon Secret (Wine Country Mysteries, #6) by Ellen Crosby . Really enjoyable read.

Naomi (tribalcat) | 307 comments Just finished Fatally Flaky by Diane Mott Davidson, which brings me up to date on her series. It's one of my favorite series, although I haven't tried the recipes yet. Reading the books makes me miss Colorado, where I lived for many years, although every other book is set in the fall/wintertime, which reminds me that I don't miss driving on ice! I enjoy the main players, and Davidson does an excellent job of fleshing out her characters and the plots. Looking forward to the next book that comes out.

I used to really like this series in large part because it's set in CO and it was easy to recognize locations. But, it got stale for me and I think I quit with FATALLY FLAKY. Haven't even bothered with the new one, CRUNCH TIME.

Nancy Bradford (nlb1050) | 77 comments Just finished Murder in Merry Old: A Simon Grand Tour Mystery and throughtly enjoyed it. I look forward to the next installment of Simon Grand.

message 3312: by Erin L (new)

Erin L (wellreadmoose) | 505 comments Listened to The Mother Hunt The Mother Hunt (Rex Stout Library) by Rex Stout on the weekend. Probably not really cozy, but I love Nero Wolfe.

message 3313: by Jackie (new)

Jackie Just finished From Here to Paternity (Jane Jeffry, #6) by Jill Churchill , my favorite of this series so far.

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) I'm putting this hear because the book I just finished, Mind Over Monsters (A F.R.E.A.K.S. Squad Investigation) by Jennifer Harlow was listed as an upcoming cozy release here and in other places. But it is DEFINITELY not a cozy! But a great read nonetheless! Graphic and humorous in a Buffy-the-vampire-slayer kind of way, I really enjoyed it and I'll definitely get the next one.

message 3317: by Toni (last edited Sep 29, 2011 02:46PM) (new)

Toni | 32 comments I just finished Buttercream Bump Off (Cupcake Bakery Mystery, #2) by Jenn McKinlay . I liked it better than the first book maybe because I was more invested in the characters. I plan to get the 3rd book next week when it comes out!

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Finished Sweet Revenge (Lady Arianna Regency Mystery, #1) by Andrea Penrose yesterday. As others have mentioned, it's a really interesting, complex plot. Great chocolate lore and the recipes look interesting and easy enough that I might try a couple. Definitely look forward to the next one!

Glad to hear it's good, Jennifer! It's near the top of my TBR pile and I'm looking forward to it; Regency + chocolate sounds like the perfect combination to me.

Finished Abby Cooper, Psychic Eye by Victoria Laurie last night. Really liked this one, will definitely have to seek out book two. Now reading another by the same author, different series, What's a Ghoul to Do?.

Hannah - FWIW, I tried one of the recipes today - the chocolate shortbread - I think it's the recipe at the start of Ch. 4. It was really tasty and a very big hit at the Grand Final party my partner had. :)

message 3332: by Nell (new)

Nell | 1223 comments I just finished Murder on the Rocks (Gray Whale Inn Mystery, #1) by Karen MacInerney Murder on the Rocks by Karen MacInerney. It's the first in a series and honestly I bought it because I liked the recipes at the end. :D It was a good mystery especially for a debut. I like the main characters and hope the protagonist is further developed in the next one - which I've started already. This book was nominated for an Agatha.

Jane Reads | 231 comments I just finished re-reading Murder Melts in Your Mouth Murder Melts in Your Mouth (Blackbird Sisters Mystery, #7) by Nancy Martin by Nancy Martin. Enjoyed it (again!) and am looking forward to Blackbird # 8.

message 3334: by Kim (new)

Kim (catmommie) I finished Buzz Off Buzz Off (Queen Bee, #1) by Hannah Reed . I haven't written a review or rated it, but I liked it.

message 3335: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (hanjae) | 82 comments Finished Murder With Peacocks (Meg Langslow, #1) by Donna Andrews ! Loved it. I was worried about Meg's apparent doormat behaviour because that tends to irritate me, but she's so annoyed about it herself that I don't feel the need to be bothered on her behalf.

I've read an excerpt from this book and it was hilarious! Of course I've ordered it and I can't wait to read it!

message 3339: by Caitlin (new)

Caitlin C (caitkom) | 199 comments Just finished First Grave on the Right (Charley Davidson, #1) by Darynda Jones . Not super cozy but still a good paranormal read. I like the grim reaper premise.

message 3340: by Maria (new)

Maria Schneider (bearmountainbooks) | 191 comments Just finished The Tightrope Walker by Dorothy Gilman. Good read, not her best. Probably even a little more cozy than some of her other works. Nice way to spend the afternoon.

message 3341: by Ariel (new)

Ariel (sevenmoonlight) | 138 comments I just finished my ARC of Dead Bolt (A Haunted Home Repair Mystery #2) by Juliet Blackwell Dead Bolt, a Haunted Renovation Mystery. I loved it. This is quickly becoming one of my top favorite paranormal mysteries. Still a cozy but has a great creepy haunted house in this one.

Peg, I mostly liked it ;) There were a few things I didn't really like (the ghost is kind of boring) but I will give the next book a try!

message 3343: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Randall (tammommy) I just finished reading Death in Daytime (Soap Opera Mystery #1) by Eileen Davidson which is book 1 in the Soap Opera Mystery Series and then finished Dial Emmy for Murder (Soap Opera Mystery, #2) by Eileen Davidson which is the second the next day.

It wasn't bad, but I am having trouble getting into the main character, but am thinking I might try one more first before writing them off.

Oh, I so envy you!! I read the first book in this series, and then was so disappointed to find out that the second wasn't out yet! I really liked the first one and am so looking forward to the next book.

Glad to know that you liked it!

I've got this one on my TBR pile, waiting for this month and halloween to read it.

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Oops... forgot to mention I just finished One Foot In The Gravy (A Deadly Deli Mystery, #2) by Delia Rosen . I like the protagonists backbone. :)

message 3347: by Susan (new)

Susan I finished Not a Girl Detective. It was OK, but I definitely felt as if I had dropped into the middle of the series. The protagonist's friends are strongly drawn and the number of characters in the story made it confusing sometimes.

message 3348: by Erin L (new)

Erin L (wellreadmoose) | 505 comments I finished Death on the Nile Death on the Nile A Hercule Poirot Mystery by Agatha Christie , and Fool's Puzzle Fool's Puzzle (Benni Harper Mysteries #1) by Earlene Fowler on the weekend. I liked both of them.

Finished What's a Ghoul to Do? by Victoria Laurie. It was okay, but think I prefer her Psychic Eye series. Will probably give book two a try just to get an idea where the series is going.
