*Sigh* - I just finished devouring
by Kate Carlisle. Now I have to wait a whole freaking year for the next one. I thought it was excellent - very fast paced. And even though I knew one of the plot points right from the start, I had no idea how it was all going to unfold. This is officially my favorite current mystery series. :)

I just finished
. I love this series. This is a wonderful book and an amazing series. I'm ready for #3!
I just finished
. It was OK, but I didn't like it as well as her Knit Shop series. Since this is the first book in this series, maybe the characters will be developed more in succeeding books. I also thought this one had a bit more gore than I remember from her Knit Shop series, though that could be a faulty memory on my part. I'll read the next book in the series to see how it develops.
I just finished
Invisible. It was (maybe still is?) a freebie on Kindle. It trickled to the top for the SPRING reading challenge, though I forgot I had put something else in for I (though it wasn't a cozy, more a standard mystery). If you peel away all the Bible quotes and quips about who did or did not go to church I think it was a pretty good book. But, despite being a Christian myself I found it a little heavy handed with the preaching and distracting from the plot. I don't mind Christian elements in a book as long as they don't get too preachy and are there to support character development. For example, I enjoy the Miss Julia books by Ann B. Ross.
I'm not likely to read any more of this series unless they happen to turn up as freebies. Even then they won't land on the top of my TBR pile.
Just finished Buzz Off! by Hannah Reed (review to come soon). Totally different, and very informative, speaking as a one-time beekeeper myself. Loved the book! A slightly different take on the usual amateur sleuth. I think this is book 1 in the series and being a new series, you can quickly catch up to the "currently writing" episode.
Betty wrote: "Just finished Buzz Off! by Hannah Reed (review to come soon). Totally different, and very informative, speaking as a one-time beekeeper myself. Loved the book! A slightly different take on the usua..."I also enjoyed this book Betty and just got the second one in the series on my Kindle! Maybe if I stop picking books up from the library, I could read it ;)
Finished Murder Takes the Cake and liked it. Could have done without all the detailed cake decorating descriptions, but it was still a good read. Like the Needlework series written as Amanda Lee better, tho!
I've just finished Murder under Cover and I've liked a lot, as the other books in the series. But I have a "small" problem with it (view spoiler)
Melodie wrote: "Finished Murder Takes the Cake and liked it. Could have done without all the detailed cake decorating descriptions, but it was still a good read. Like the Needlework series written..."I've had this one waiting for awhile. I think I'll start it when I finish up with the library books.
Just finished The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith. Rather like Smith's writing style - light, fun, and imaginative. Kathie: I just have to tell you that I read Maisie Dobbs a few books ago and really enjoyed it. Different books for different folks. I liked Maisie Dobbs, the strong female heroine, but then I am always do like strong female heroines in the books I read.
Finished
by Ian Sansom. I'm not sure, actually, how much I liked it. On the whole, I'd say a yes although our "hero," Israel Armstrong, tended to get on my nerves as did every other character. I think that was the point, I just don't know if I found it more funny than just annoying.
Finished 3 in the last couple days (no, I didn't start them all during that time-- I spent the weekend finishing a bunch of books I'd been working on):
A Charmed Death,
Wreath of Deception and
In the Teeth of Adversity. Liked the first two quite a bit, the third, not so much.
Just finished Crewel World by Monica Ferris and really enjoyed it! I'm looking forward to reading more in this series.
Finished
. It's a shame the bullet points and her sister's text speak are so horrible. The story is good and the lead character is likeable. Won't read the third unless the bullet points go away and the sister grows up.
i have just finished
by Shirley Damsgaardi thought that it was really good full of magic, secrets and evil spirits
I just finished
and loved it. Just a fun read all the way through, and reminded me a bit of Georgette Heyer's style.
I just finished The Ghost and the Dead Deb This second book in the Haunted Bookshop Mystery series was just so-so. I had a hard time getting in to the mystery and felt it was never really resolved satisfactorily. There were a series of flash-backs within the storyline that seemed to interrupt the story; I think they were meant to add background and interest but to me they failed to do that. This story just seemed to drag some. And the characters didn't seem to grab me as much as in the first book in the series. I do like the main characters in the series enough to continue reading.
I'm trying to rush through Kate Collins'
before it's due back at the library-I have it downloaded & only 3 days. I hope I like it!
Catherine: I think book two of the Haunted Bookshop series was my least favorite. Book four is my absolute fave in the series, with book 5 a close second.
Heather L wrote: "Catherine: I think book two of the Haunted Bookshop series was my least favorite. But, now, I'll pick up the third and try again. Thanks for your comment!!
Heather L wrote: "Catherine: I think book two of the Haunted Bookshop series was my least favorite. I like the Coffeehouse mysteries that they writes as Cleo Coyle.
Jennifer E. wrote: "I just finished reading both
and
. I like this series more with each book."that's one of my favorite series, too, Jennifer!
I just finished Crunch Time and I really wish I could say I liked it...but I didn't. I didn't like any of the characters this time and the story was pretty lame. Maybe it's time to let this series end.
Susie in KS wrote: "I just finished Crunch Time and I really wish I could say I liked it...but I didn't. I didn't like any of the characters this time and the story was pretty lame. Maybe it's time to..."I decided I was done with this series with the one before this. There are some really bad reviews of CRUNCH TIME over on Amazon, so glad I quit!
Ellie wrote: "Finished

On the whole, I'd say a yes although our "hero," Israel Armstron..."Elli-I just picked up the case of the Missing Books as well but haven't gotten into it yet. Should I wait until I get through my "must reads"? Or is it worth the read now? Thanks for any feedback you can give me!

Dru - You and I are, of course, reading most of the same books but in different order. LOL I just finished
and
as well as
and
. Loved them all except for Hiss of Death and the review I wrote on my goodreads markup was pretty much it. But I still have to read Flowerbed of State, Lost and Fondue, Mind Your Own Beeswax (decided to give this series another shot) and Murder Under Cover. After finishing Wedding Shawl, the beginning of Murder Under Cover was a bit of a shock to my system so I think I'll hold off on that and start with Lost and Fondue. : ) But I'll read them all eventually!
I'm trying to finish up my A-Z challenges and just got through
. It's not a bad plotline, it's just I find the whole "go undercover in the evil den" thing to be a cliche. I'm hoping the third and last one in the series to be a bit more interesting.
I finished
yesterday and thought it was an excellent read. I've only been disappointed with one book in this long running series and even it was a good read.
Emma wrote: "Ellie wrote: "Finished

It'll be there if you decide to come back!
I just finished In the Last Analysis
and it's one of the best mysteries I've read in a long time-- intelligent, and without the common flaw of explanations for events that either are too flimsy to ring true or too obvious. Nice book!
Ellie wrote: "Finished

Just finished
. This last book in the series was a good one and I liked that it didn't really leave any lingering questions.
I think I finally blew out my brain circuits.Too many "currently reading" & "to read" & lists of cozies. I'm completely frozen. :(
It happens to me from time to time. I trust I'll recover.
In the meantime, I'll have to continue to enviously read about what you all are reading!
Just finished FM for Murder, by Goodreads author Patricia Rockwell. This is the second acoustic mystery and I am growing to really like the main character, college professor, Dr. Pamela Barnes. I found the science of looking and listening to the sounds of the murders very interesting and I liked how in this particular book, Pam involves her colleagues, her class, her graduate assistant and her daughter, and a reluctant husband Rocky whose main concern is his wife's safety. I also enjoyed the peek into the goth world. Mostly I enjoyed this book because I could make guesses as to the who-dunnit but I was always challenged to change my opinion as more details were revealed. The butler DID NOT do it!
Jennifer E. wrote: "Finished
tonight. Excellent read - this series just gets better with each book."Oh, snap! There goes another long list of books added to my TBR list! ;)
I just finishedShakespeare's Christmas. I really enjoyed this book. It was probably my favorite of the three in the series that I've read. My only complaint is that she wrapped everything up too quickly. It felt like she got tired of the story and just finished it. I would have preferred a little more wrap up.
Just finished
. Good book. I actually wanted to find a cheese store in my area and try a sample of some of these different kinds! Good job, Avery Aames!
Kari wrote: "Does this series need to be in order? I have put off star..."Kari - I would say yes, as there is a recurring romance arc throughout the series, but I think it doesn't really start up until book 3 (although you'll miss the introduction of one of the men in her life in book 1). Each mystery is stand-alone though. I guess it depends on how much you enjoy the character development throughout a series. If it's not that important to you, I don't think reading them in order is a necessity. But if you can find books 1 and 2, go for reading them in order. ;)

Just finished
and really enjoyed it. I really liked the Wanda Nell Culpepper Trailer Park series that Dean James wrote, too, as Jimmie Ruth Evans.
Melodie wrote: "Just finished

Just finished
, and while it was a good enough book, I don't think I'll read any more in this series. I don't eat cheese and find even the smell of most types to be revolting, so the cheese talk really gets to me! If she should do another series dealing with another subject I'd definitely be up for it!
Melodie wrote: "Just finished

I usually don't eat cheese either, but it is because it does funny things to my voice, and I am a singer. I love it though, so it would make me want to eat it! I'll have to stay away from it for that reason. :-)
